Comments: Mike, the 64 class website is soc64.com. The class of 62 no longer has a website. Thanks to Lynell Garrett Smith and Charlotte Anders Strange we have a website. We have many who just look but never posts. Let’s keep this sure a site alive. We really appreciate y’all!
Comments: We get notifications intermittently regarding classmates from other years and that is great. Too bad 1962 and 1964 doesn't have a site like 1963. I have a few friends from both years that I'd like to check on but it is not easy. Thanks to everyone here that shares the information as received.

She talked to the lady from her church who found Norma. Norma was a retired minister. She was adorable, very kind and an encourager. I will miss my friend. As of now, Shannon said there will not be a service.

Comments: Miss Thomas was a lovely and gracious woman. I was not a Deb, but was in her regular gym class. Although she failed to instill a fondness for jumping jacks in me, she taught me how to become an ace at parallel parking in Driver’s Ed. May she rest in eternal peace for all her good works.

Comments: Obituary for Mary Ann ThomasMary Ann Thomas left this world on August 23rd, 2024. She was the last of five children of Kelton Thomas and Minnie B. (Casey). She is preceded in death by her parents, brothers HB, Bob, Mickey, and her sister Cara Jo. She would like to be remembered as a loving Aunt to JoAnn, Michael, Julie, Sista, Kelton, and Brian. A memorial service will be held at the Wildwood Chapel at Restland Cemetery in Dallas, Texas. At her request, in lieu of flowers, contributions to St. Jude Hospital in her name would be greatly appreciated.

Comments: I always remember egging her parents house. There were 4 of us and we were out of Larry Weygandt's dads car when Miss Bryant came out on the front porch. I'll never forget that "Come on Gibbs, she's on the front porch". Monday during class she just smiled. I knew that she knew but I never got any repercussions from that night of mischief.

Comments: Joan and I have been in Port O'Connor for three weeks. First week, the wind blew constantly with rain. The strong east wind caused the water to rise 2-3' so lots of flooding. The ramp we normally use was flooded and the place we buy bait was flooded. Then the wind died and the mosquitoes have been the worst I have seen. Maybe I just forget how bad they can be! And the coastal heat and humidity. We are headed back to Southlake tomorrow-doctor appt on Tuesday. Sad to hear of all the SOC grads that have passed. Peaches, keep up the good work.
Comments: Lawrence Jackson’s Celebration of Life will be Sunday, July 21 from 1:00 pm till 4:00 pm at The Arts Center of Plano 902 E. 26th Street Plano, Tx Lawrence was our graphic arts classmate who designed our Bears over the years for our directories and posters at each Reunion and birthday parties. Comments: Back at SOC I always assumed Joan Diffee and her brother David Diffee were "twins". David died at age 55 in 2000. Now comparing their obituaries, I learn that David was born in January of 1945 while Joan didn't come along til November 1945. Non-mystery solved.

Comments: Ken Haas called me earlier today to tell me he read about Lawrence Jackson passing. He and Cynthia moved to Kansas City, MO. I called him before our reunion and talked with him. I will call his number and hopefully Cynthia will answer. If I find out when the memorial is I will post here. Lawrence was our graphic artist who drew our SOC bear for reunions from our 20th till our 50th. He will definitely be missed!
Comments: Read this today. Lawrence Jackson ObituaryLawrence died peacefully on May 28, 2024. He was born on October 23, 1945 in Yoakum, TX. (You have his permission to giggle.) He graduated from South Oak Cliff High School in 1963 and from the University of Texas in 1968. He was passionate about art, music, and travel. He was a commercial artist by trade and a bass player for his soul.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Lyndon and Clara Vere Jackson, and his sister Linda Hindall. He is survived by his wife, Cynthia, and his sister and her husband, Janet Jackson and Jim Stiles of Olympia, Washington, as well nieces, nephew, in-laws, cousins, and dear friends. A memorial service will be held in Dallas at a future date. |
