Comments: Thank you, Lynell!
Comments: Every so often I google my own name to see what will pop up. Look what showed up this time. http://www.soc63.com/guestcolumns/guestcolumnarchivesi.html
Comments: More good news, just received my 1095 B in the mail, as I understand form it is to prove to IRS that I have insurance and is a precursor to Cadillac tax on health insurance postponed by administration until next year after the election .
Comments: Sandy, it's awful for people who are still working! It's also sad to have to sell shares while the market isn't doing so hot.
Comments: Yep, we're in that RMD category too. Or at least Don is! We too worked long hours and made it a point to save a portion of our earnings every year. Now the government is forcing us to take some of it out whether we want to or not! I can hardly wait until I also have to start taking RMD. Bah hum bug!!
Comments: We are feeling the RMD reality, too, now paying big taxes on money we struggled to save years ago. Ow! Sharon, I'm following the SOC "We want a new school" story, too. Have to wonder why the school wasn't maintained. The latest story I saw was about termites in the clinic. We had termites here, and we called the exterminator. Guess we should have opted for a new house. Silly us!
Comments: Phil, I share your pain. That's the worst part of my annual physical exam ... when the doctor does that "RMD" thing.
Comments: Have you all been reading about the plight of SOC? I guess things really have been going downhill for a long time. In preparation for our 25th Reunion, the committee went to SOC on a Saturday morning, and after all that time, I swear not even a floor tile had been changed out. Everything looked the same, except there were trophy cases lining the halls! If DISD elects to build a new school, where will it be located? Is all that land still at the back of the building?
Comments: I guess I'm really old. I did my first RMD I don't know if it is good or bad news but actuarial tables say I have another 24 years!
Comments: Happy Easter! ![]()
Comments: Just want to wish everyone a Wonderful Easter.
Comments: Sharon, I had a great day with girl friends and a wonderful dinner at Marc's Restaurant last nightt. Thank you for your good wishes. ;-)
Comments: Thanks Lynell. Very sad to see that what I had heard is true. All of us have to struggle to maintain our integrity through this life in many ways. I really hate to hear Tim messed up so badly after having established himself so well. I hope the best for him and his family in the days ahead.
Comments: Hi, Steve, Nice to see you here. You can Google Tim and find out more than you ever want to know. I believe he is currently serving time.
Comments: Please pardon an interloper on your site. Promise to go back where I belong after one brief comment and question. There was a fellow in your class whom I always liked. His name is Tim Wright. He had a handicap due to an arm that never developed but Tim worked hard for all sports teams. He was just a great all around guy who did not let his handicap hold him back. Someone mentioned to me Tim became a judge and eventually had some legal problems of his own. Without getting into his life too personally, does anyone know if Tim is alive and well? Just wondering. No other reason. Thanks for letting me on your site.
Comments: Along with the GOOD! Sheesh!!!
Comments: Eeew, Sharon! How you remember, I cannot imagine!!!!!! Yes ma'am I will be 71. Who would have ever expected us to be this old? My mother died at 72. I said she was young then. BUT, I had no idea how young she really was!!!!!!! I went to a wedding tonight. The couple is so darling. AND so naive. I've been married 50 years and pray they can endure the rough parts along with the food to be where I am now. You know you were my savior for Ms Stamps class. Remember???
Comments: Hey, Charlotte, don't you have a birthday coming up real soon? Hope it's the best one yet.
Comments: Look where I type this security letters! Haaaa. No wonder I had to type them again!
Comments: Hi Sharon, I hope you are feeling MUCH better. A friend in Shreveport told me today the their city has had 36" of rain so far. Whew!! We've had good rains at the ranch. Everyone thinks this will be a bumper Bluebonnet year, but not so around our area. Bluebonnets don't like wet feet and that's what happened this year at our place. We've had gorgeous years, but, sadly, this won't be one of them. I recently lost mey voice and had a chronic caugh, but it is clearing up. And, too bad for Terry, I can talk again. 34njk
Comments: Did everyone go on spring break early? We've had 4 inches of rain since yesterday morning and my yard looks like a lake.
Comments: Mike, I forwarded your thank you to Les Hancock. He is in charge of the Men's luncheons and that is where the card came from. He responded to you on Facebook. I have been praying for you to have a good recovery and am so sorry for your circumstances. Your name is on my prayer list.
Comments: to: the 63 lunch bunch---thank you so much for yourkind and caring card that you all signed. I hope that I can and will get better in the near future. Strokes & heart attacks are no fun.If I had a dollar for every time I have fallen & bounced my head off the tile here the last few months I could buy a new vette. LOL,If I want to blame someone for my health problems, I need only look in the mirror. No one ever shoved a cigarette, marguerita, or mexican dinner in my mouth except me.Thanks again for remembering me---MIKE
Comments: My goodness, Sharon. That is scary. I'm glad you're okay. It's a strange world, and it seems to get stranger by the day. Years ago I went to Campbell Centre often. More than once when I was there, the oil company in the building had a bomb scare. They made everyone walk out. The first time, I carried all my court reporting equipment down 18 floors. I have disliked stairs since that time. This is one of those good/bad days. Got our tax refund a week after filing, and we both have horrible colds. No shopping spree for moi!
Comments: Had a crazy thing happen at work yesterday afternoon. I work in Addison. Around 3:30 pm. the young man in my office left to go to an appointment and 5 minutes later he was back. He said, no one is going anywhere for the time being. Seems a bomb threat had been made concerning the building next door. Every policeman in Addison was on our block. All driveways were blocked off. Around 4:00 pm, the bomb squad dogs were brought in and sniffed every car in our parking lot. I got to watch from our 5th floor office. Finally, at 5:00, our driveway was opened at one end and we managed to drive off, but only in one direction. I have no idea when the people in the other two buildings got to leave. Pretty weird and somewhat scary.
Comments: I realized later that it's Tilden, not Tillman, Street where Wee St. Andrews was located. What can I say? I'm old (but still wild and crazy)! ![]()
Comments: Thanks, Phyllis. You are so right, it was the best ever. I haven't played miniature golf in forever. I'm not sure if there are still any putt-putt courses out there.
Comments: Dear Sharon: Wee Saint Andrews was at Tillman and Plowman Streets. The best miniature golf course of all time.
Comments: Quick question. Where was the Wee Saint Andrews Miniature golf course located? Was it on Zangs? I was telling this young man in my office about it, and for the life of me I couldn't remember the street names. Also, reminisced about the Orange Juluis stand down the street from it. |
