Comments: Yes, all is true. Donna was a sweet, wonderful person. I feel privileged to have known her. I will never forget her smile and bright eyes. RIP Donna.

Comments: Peaches just called to let me know about Donna Muir passing away...I have to admit that it did not dawn on me at first who she was referring to when she said Donna Yates....will always be Donna Muir to me...such a loving sweet lady who has had more than her share of hardships and health issues. Rest in peace sweet friend..you will be missed!
Comments: What sad, sad news about sweet Donna Muir Yates. Darla just phoned with information about Donna's memorial service. The service is scheduled for Wednesday, July 15, 2015 11:00 a.m. First United Methodist Church 505 West Marvin Ave. Waxahachie, TX Donna's family has requested in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Society or to Meals on Wheels in Johnson or Ellis County. Donna dealt with so much in her life, and she did it with grace and a smile.
Comments: It is with great sadness to tell you our Donna Muir Yates died this morning with a heart attack. Darla Williams Morrison was called by one of her sons. There will be a memorial service. Details are being made. I will post as soon as I get the information. Donna and I have been friends since the 8th grade. Darla and I were invited to her birthday party given by her sons last year. It was a wonderful time spent with her. Darla and I have been talking about going to see her again and did not make. DO NOT ever put off seeing your friends.....it may be too late. I am overwhelmed with sorrow!!!!!
Comments: today Danny was discharged from Baylor Hospital and admitted in Methodist Rehab Hospital next to Charlton Methodist. he should be here about 2 weeks.
Comments: Boys, don't read this. There's nothing to see here. Just move on. My Aunt Velma was about our age now when she told me, "Trust me, honey. Nothing good happens to your body at this age, except you won't have to shave your legs as often."
Comments: Our dear friend and classmate Martha Bass Hunt has set up a Caring Bridge site for herself as she deals with health issues. If you would like to drop her a note, please go to caringbridge.org and search for Martha Hunt. You'll need to register.
Comments: I am sorry to hear about Danny's situation, and I hope he rallies soon. Please keep us posted. Please check the Events page for info about the upcoming SOC luncheon, and also to see about the Class of '65's 50th Reunion set for September.
Comments: Getting old is no fun! I need to have knee surgery and have been putting it off for over a year, but it is getting to the point that I'm having trouble walking. I sure hope Danny gets better. My brother took his family (6 adults + 5 teenagers) on vacation over the 4th. They rented a house on the beach in Ft. Morgan, AL. He said that last Sunday a storm came up and they all ran to the house. Ten minutes later lightning hit a group of teenagers that had remained on the beach, injuring 5 and killing one. Not a great start to the vacation. Be safe.
Comments: Danny, I will be praying for you. Please keep us updated on your progress. Go to events page on our website and you will see all the details for our Summer Luncheon!
Comments: And I noticed the question about the summer luncheon...it is July 18th at noon at Peaches'house.
Comments: I have not visited this site in a while...Danny I sure hope you are doing better...will send up a prayer for you!
Comments: Just curious, but does the 64 bunch still have a web site in a viable form. Would occasionally drop by, but when I checked it out yesterday and today the last entry was 4/20 by some hacker. Anyone know what is going on?
Comments: I am so sorry to hear Danny is having more health issues. You are both in my prayers and I pray that Danny will improve. Please tell him I am thinking about him.
Comments: What is the date of the summer luncheon?
Comments: Well I thought it was time we send you guys a note and let you know that Danny is in the hospital again. he is in Baylor in Waxahachie, room number 210. Danny has been having some trouble with falling lately. he has fallen 4 times in about 4 weeks . on Sunday July 5, he fell down outside of Cracker Barrel on the concrete. he cut his forehead just above the eyebrow from his glasses this was very deep it took 11 stitches including one on the inside to pull it together. after getting him stitched up in the ER they were ready to release him when he passed out. his blood pressure had been very low all day and when sitting him up on the edge of the bed it dropped even further is what is suspected causing him to pass out. so they had to admit him. he had a sore hip and some bruising on it that's all they did an xray on his hip. he also had a CT scan on his head. both the CT and the hip xray came back alright. since then he has been unable to stand up on his own and is not able to walk. It is like he has lost his sense of balance. they did in EEG on his brain and it shows some mild seizure activity. his blood pressures are still staying low. this morning they told me that his blood levels the H&H,, are trending downward. This means that he is still bleeding somewheres internally. we do believe it is in that hip the bruise has gone to his spine in the lumbar around the hip into the pelvic region. it goes from the top of the hip down his leg about a foot and a half. it is just terrible! they will do a pelvic and abdominal CT on him today to see if they can find the bleeding. I found so call in for a surgical consultant. the surgeon has already been here and checked him and told him that this should clear up. but he will be following Danny's progress to see if anything is going to be needed from him. please keep Danny in your prayers.

Comments: One of the holidays highlights was the woman's soccer team and no terrorist threats. Great holiday!
Comments: A Happy and safe 4th of July to all. No plans to travel, but will enjoy not having to work for a few days.
Comments: A big thanks to everyone who has been supportive of my daughter-in-law, Gayle Lemmon's book "Ashley's War." It was just named to the Amazon.com list of "Best Books of the Year So Far" in both the History and Biographies/Memoirs categories. It was also written up in Cosmopolitan as one of the Best Summer Reads. So excited for her. It's available at amazon.com in hardback and kindle, at Barnes and Noble, Target, Walmart, Sam's Club and I think at Costco. It's a great read and a lot of men seem to really be enjoying it.
Comments: Gaylan, you must be so proud. The books are both wonderful reads. I certainly hope the movie is made. How wonderful!
Comments: Thanks for the kind comments about Gayle's book, "Ashley's War." It was on the New York Times best seller list for the first two weeks it was out. That list depends apparently on all the book sellers contacting them and telling them how many copies of books they have sold each week so don't know how accurate it is from week to week. But she is a New York Times Bestseller now on both books, including her last book, "The Dressmaker of Khair Khana." That's a hugh feat in itself that her first and second book both made the NYT Bestseller list. She has gotten lots of buzz on Ashley's War and hopefully now that Reese Witherspoon and Fox 2000 have purchased the film rights, the story will come to the big screen. You just never know. It's a crazy business. I think it is a wonderfully told story about these women who became life long "sisters" on the battlefield. I don't think it is just a story about war per se, although it does include some of the missions that they did night after night along side the Army Rangers. I think it is such an insight into these women's lives, their hopes of doing something important for their country, and just maybe paving the way for other women in the military. It's a beautiful story about some amazing women.
Comments: it was a great experience! and also to see Gaylan.
Comments: Jealous of you Sandra and Peaches!!! Wish I could have been there.
Comments: also, glad to meet Sandy daughter!
Comments: Gaylan, I was so glad and excited that I got to go to the book signing. I was so very impressed with Gayle. She is such a story teller. She made the book come alive while discussing. Her enthusiasm about Ashley's War needs to be told to us I (probably most Americans) did not even know about these women. I am so glad she is receiving recognition for her efforts and being interviewed. It was a plus to see Laura Bush there (from a distant) sitting with Ashley's mother. I enjoyed sitting with Sandra Osbourne also and meeting Justin. Justin and Gayle are a good looking couple. I know you are so proud of both! |
