Posted by our friend Sandie Pottkotter Kubiak on Facebook today, our classmate and forever cheerleader for the class of 65, Vicki Liles-Redden-Fox, passed away at 10:00 am today. The services are pending and Sandie will post the information on FB as soon as she knows. Please pray for her sister Lena and family and close friends of Vicki. Vicki's contagious smile and laughter will surely be missed among her classmates.

Charlotte,  I am sure you score high marks with the fashion police despite the white shoes.

I don't own a pair of white shoes...uh, well, my work out shoes are white with hot pink trim. Oops...I lied! I just remembered some white sandals. The Fashion Police wouldn't give me high marks anyway. Barry, I'm so glad to see you pay attention and put away your white shoes after Labor Day!

Mike, Go ahead and contribute whatever is on your mind.  We really don't have a lot of rules, although some of my follow classmates get upset when classmates talk   about politics especially if the opinions are dogmatic.  We all just try to get along and look out for each other.  We also have a pray line that a lot of us like to use.  Some  of us feel the need to have our friends pray for us.

Hey, Kathleen, thanks---before I contribute again, I think you better list the rules of contribution---like subject matter, opinion, off-limit topics, etc.---I do not want to be "a pain in the posterior."

Mike Johnson,  You are right it  has been years since we debated.  It has been years since I even looked at your class web sight.  I am glad you are enjoying  the '63 web sight. Our class appreciates all SOCites who want to make contributions.

My husband was in the apparel biz for 25+ years, and I went to many fashion events when I would prefer to have stayed home. The so-called designers generally wore black. Their designing mostly consisted of copying pictures of NY and Paris fashions, and mass producing them. The real geniuses were the pattern makers. I pretty much wear what I want to, but the white shoes go bye bye after Labor Day.

Wow! again.  I was so excited about seeing Charlotte and Sharon on the site, I failed to scroll far enough.  Southworth, we miss you on our site---we will have it back and running soon when Pat Rogers and I work on re-coordinating the site (because Claudia Bevill Kengott is 'retiring'---maybe with some surprise announcements)---and KATHLEEN---it's been such a long time since we 'exchanged' niceties on the SOC62 site---it was always a pleasure to debate with you.  My experience on your site has been an unexpected treat and I hope to communicate again soon.  Thank you!

Hi, Charlotte and Sharon---How ironic!---that I should post for the first time on your site and see two familiar names---love both of you, Charlotte at C.P. Russell and Sharon at SOC---wow, what a great walk down memory lane just seeing both your names.

From what I see there are NO fashion rules anymore. But, personally, I do not take any designers word for anything....most of them cause all the "fashion victims" we see around and about. However, I have "winter white" stuff I wear all year round and my white jeans. And, of course, there are my patent and suede shoes. The "no white" after Labor Day went the way of hats and gloves as well as prim and proper. I never thought of it pertaining to blouses tho....mainly shoes and whole outfits. That's the way I see it anyway.

Kathleen, it is perfectly acceptable to wear white after Labor Day.  I read an article last week by a big name designer who said it may have been an unwritten rule years ago, but it went out the window several years ago.  The other "rule" I remember was "no patent leather shoes until Easter".  The office building where I work is a complete jumble of styles.  There are the suit and tie attorneys to actual slobs and everything else in between.  Sometimes it is a real eye opener!

I keep seeing articles on not wearing white after Labor Day.  Since I have on a white blouse, I guess I am breaking the rule.  Do any of you not wear white after Labor Day?

Thanks, everyone, for the birthday wishes.  Sorry to be so late responding, but my sister Diane -- class of "62 -- treated me to a wonderful birthday trip to the Choctaw Casino, and I just got back.  Diane came back several thousands of dollars richer, thanks to -- of all things -- penny slot machines.  I, on the other hand, can only report that I made it home with $150 more than expected, but with a sisterly bonding experience that is truly priceless.  Hope your birthday was great, too, Sharon.  And, how good is it to have Peaches back!  We all have our trials and tribulations, but many blessings also, not the least of which is each other.  It's good to be "home."

Peaches, We are all so glad you are back and doing so well.  You have the most positive attitude of anyone I know.  I am sure this helps you get well.  We are also glad your mother is doing well.  You should get Dorothy Parker to help you with your mother sometime.  She does a wonderful job.

Phyllis, I saw where you acknowledged  I was back. I am doing great. I was off work for 2 weeks due to the surgery then back to work and my normal life (whatever that is). Thanks for all y'alls prayers. They helped I am sure. Cancer free now and no chemo!!!!!!!! I am not posting much because I still work full time and see mother every day after work but I do look to see what is happening. We will have our annual Christmas luncheon at my house and our 70th birthday party next year. Gotta get back to work. Love all of y'all.

My age group could not legally drink in Texas until 21. What is the age now? I was married before I could legally buy booze.

I remember that you could be drafted at 18, but had to wait until you were 21 to vote. The complaint was you were old enough to be drafted for your country, but you weren't old enough to vote.

Phyllis, where did you go to college?  I remember drinking at 18, but not legally! Ha.  I think I remember (?) that when I turned 21 the drinking age was lowered to 18 but not for long.  Anyone else remember that?
