Comments: I just received a text from Sharon Casey that Elaine Amos passed away last night. She has fought cancer for a few years now. Sharon said her daughters are coming to Dallas tomorrow to make arrangements. She will let me know details.
I am just so sad once again. Live each day to the fullest.

Comments: I just finished reading Buzzy's book, Crew Chief. It's really very good. It's -- primarily -- about his Air Force service during Viet Nam, maintaining fighter/bomber aircraft. I'm going to send it to my younger Grandson, Triston, who's on active duty in the Air Force, working on ejection systems in the Stealth Bomber.

Comments: Thanks for asking Charlotte. He was released last Friday afternoon and was home through Monday, when I had him readmitted. So he is back in the hospital, but doing better. He has some kind of stomach infection that they just can't get under control. I'm sure it has something to do with the emergency stomach surgery he had last July. But, at least, yesterday he was up and walking with a walker, so his strength is coming back a little. I told him he could not come home until he could walk on his own!

Comments: Happy Easter, Everyone!

Comments: Just wanted you to know that Steve has been in the hospital since last Friday. Seems to be doing much better today, but no idea when he'll be discharged.

Comments: I didn't have the pleasure of knowing Jack. The obituary in the Dallas Morning News was very nice. Among other things, it said that he went to law school in the 1990's to become a criminal defense lawyer, because he wanted to help people. Very admirable.

Comments: Hello everyone! I've not been here in a while and see that I have missed a lot!! Congrats to Larry and I sympathize with Gary. Tho it probably cannot compare, I had rotator cuff surgery and know that horrible pain and recovery. Sadly, I see the the info about the deaths of 2 of our peers. I remember them both. may they rest in peace.
Happy Easter to all!

Comments: A few days ago Jack Ehrle popped into my mind. I had not thought of him in years. He was in my world history class at Storey. I'm sorry he has passed.
04/05/17
Comments: Thanks for the info. Sharon. I played pee-wee football with Jack and then at Storey. HE was a nice guy I am sorry to hear of his passing. I hope he had a good life.
04/04/17
Comments: Don't know how many of you from Boude Storey remember Jack Ehrle (A. J. Ehrle, III). After Storey, he went to Kimbell, so was removed from our group. However, he and I were friends forever. While we hadn't seen each other recently, we still sent birthday cards and Christmas cards every year. I just learned of his passing last Friday. His wife of 54 years, Glenda, called and told us that he died of an extremely aggressive lung disease. (He was not a smoker.) A memorial service is this Friday, 2:30 p.m., Restland.

Comments: Danny Green wanted me to let his SOC friends know that he is at Grace Presbyterian Village for rehab since around the first of March. He is in the Anderson building, rm 2012. He is very weak and has lost a lot of weight. The doctors will meet on Monday and discuss plans for his release date. He will be going home on hospice. Please all pray for him. Danny has loved being involved with all our Reunions and luncheons. Remember how he has given so many of us flashlights. He did get to visit with Weldon Wells.

Comments: Please remember Gary Leverett in your prayers. He will be undergoing a Total right shoulder replacement April 11th in Denison. This was an unexpected gift from playing football in the 60s, lol. He will stay overnight for IV antibiotics, then home and 4-6 weeks of Rehabilitation.

Comments: I remember where I was when I heard Maybeline for the first time. I was sitting in a booth at the corner drug store (on Junuis @ Hall St., where Baylor Hospital now sits) having walked there from Stephen F. Austin Elementary School (on Washington @ Gaston Ave., which Baylor has also razed and put up a parking lot) with three friends to get a vanilla coke. The song was playing on the juke box and I couldn't wait to hear it again. Played it three times before we left. RIP Chuck Berry.

Comments: I received a text message from Danny Willard (SOC class of 64) this morning. Jan Willard Netherland (SOC class of 63) and Danny's sister, Martha (also from SOC), has gone to be with our Lord at 1:06 am this morning. Please be in prayer for this family. Jan's son-in-law went to be with our Lord and Savior last month. This family has a lot of faith but the pain remains.

Comments: Hey, Sharon;
According to Channel 8, today is National Margarita Day, just in time for us to contemplate retirement to Margaritaville! I saw in the AARP Magazine that Jimmy Buffett turned 70 on Christmas Day, so -- at some point -- he may be retiring there too.
02/20/17
Comments: Noticed in the obits yesterday that Cindy Simonton, Class of '61, passed away. She was a really pretty girl at SOC. On another subject, heard this morning where Jimmy Buffett is planning to open a Margarittaville themed Retirement Community close to Daytona. Just think, all that sunshine, margaritas and NASCAR, too. Sign me up!

Comments: Sharon, a new computer can be a mixed blessing because there are so many things to set up. Last year I had to upgrade my old desktop computer to Windows 10. It was a project to get it all to work!

Comments: I got a laptop for Christmas and sat down yesterday to send a note and it wouldn't let me. I guess because I haven't set up an e-mail account on it yet.

Comments: Phyllis, how cool! I'm sure Larry is a courtroom dynamo. Good for him.

Comments: Akin Gump Trial Vet Launches New San Antonio Firm Larry Macon Courtesy photoSan Antonio lawyer R. Laurence "Larry" Macon, an avid marathoner and veteran trial lawyer, opened his own firm, the Macon Law Firm, on Jan. 1, after practicing at Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld for 25 years. "I've worked for other firms forever. I just wanted to be my own boss and try more lawsuits," Macon said. "It's just harder at big firms to try lawsuits because No. 1, they are very expensive, and No. 2, there's less emphasis on trying suits." Macon said he tried three suits in 2016, which was far too few in his view. He said he expects to add some lawyers to his new firm in short order on a full-time or project basis, and has also talked to a couple of firms about teaming up on certain matters. On the day the Macon Law Firm launched, Macon ran the Texas Marathon in Kingwood. A Guinness world record holder for the most marathons run in a year, Macon said the New Year's Day marathon brought his lifetime total up to 1,838. Macon, who was mediating a suit on Jan. 3 in New York City but expected to be at his new firm's office on Jan. 4, said his clients include Acelity and Food Lion, among others. He has tried more than 150 suits to a jury, and he said he expects to have a lot of fun at his new firm. "I can choose what I can do. I have my own rules," he said. He also noted that he will have more flexibility in billing rates at his boutique. Macon, who turned 72 on New Year's Eve, said he left Akin Gump by choice, even though he was four years past the firm's mandatory retirement age. "Larry was a valued colleague for many years and we wish him all the best," a representative for Akin Gump said of Macon's departure.
