Comments: Lynell, I agree we don't have very many posters these days. I wish we could change this. It is more fun if we have classmates who talk to each other and who are interested in each other. Just talk about anything that is going on with you these days. You might want to enter the HGTV dream house contest. It is free and all you have to do to enter is post.
Comments: No spam since the annoying CATCHA has been in place. I hope we can get rid of it in a few days. Honestly, so few people post on here these days, it probably doesn't matter. Lots of lurkers, not many with something to say. Oh, well.
Comments: Linda, I notified Phyllis Kelley regarding the SOC 65 site virus attacks and they are looking into it. Tommy Barr has taken over the financial end of the site and they are checking the virus problems out that have been attacking the site. Nothing can be posted on the guestbook unless it is approved by the committee now. I believe the 50th reunion is set for September 12, 2015, but a place has not been named. The 65 alumni are awaiting gifts of funding for the reunion as all the funds were used up during the 45th. As soon as they have the funding, I am sure they will have a hotel set aside for the reunion. It will only be a one night affair this time. Phyllis Kelley is the main person handling the reunion. Others on board I believe are Jerry Vining, Tommy Dippery, and Tommy Barr. Phyllis posts on the site and also on Facebook.
Comments: Back to work today. But will probably leave early. Thank goodness for an understanding boss. Still sick after 3 weeks, just can't seem to shake this upper respiratory thingee. May end up at the emergency room tomorrow if I can't get rid of this fever. Hope everyone stays in unless you absolutely have to get out.
Comments: Sorry to have to do this, but we have had spam posts of late. I have enacted the CAPTCHA feature to try and prevent this abuse. I know this is a pain, and I hope we can remove this obstacle soon.
Comments: Linda, you are wise to not drive. If you have another wreck, you could loose your car insurance. Just heard the Dallas schools will be closed tomorrow. This superintendent is good to announce it early. When I was teaching, you had to get up early to find out if there would be school that day. I can't wait till SUMMER! I hate this cold weather. I haven't seen a car drive down our street all day. Everyone is staying in. Our neighborhood is hilly and too many of my neighbors have learned the hard way how easy it is to have a wreck,
Comments: I see that the SOC 65 site is still down. Any idea if it will be up w/info on the upcoming 50 yr reunion? My company closed for the day due to the icy roads. I had already called in for a V-day. No way am I driving today or tomorrow. I drive 70 miles roundtrip since my office was moved Sept 2013. On 12/20/14, I was sitting on Arbrook at Cooper St in Arlington waiting for the light. Two trucks collided pushing one into a truck in the left turn lane two rows over from my Sonata. Debri went flying. It hit my front bumper and broke my windshield. When the cars finally stopped, there were 6 cars involved. We just got the Sonata repaired, when on 2/5/15, I was rear ended driving home from work in my Pruis C. The light had changed to yellow, I stopped and the truck behind me didn't. The guy and I exchanged info and he had insurance but no drivers license. He had a passport from El Salvador. Police came and he got a ticket for tail gating. But no ticket for no drivers license. How does anyone get insurance w/o a drivers license? I am having my ins company handle my repairs. The other guy ins adjuster will not return my ins co calls, so I reported them to the State. Suddenly, they are now responding. I definitely am staying home today and tomorrow. No more crashes for me !!!
Comments: I hope everyone is indoors today, safe from the ice and sleet. P,ease don't take chances!
Comments: We are supposed to have really cold weather tonight again. This has been the coldest winter I can remember. These cold days are really stressful. All of you need to buy your groceries before the ice strikes and you are frozen in. You might need to buy candles in case you loose your lights. We seem to live in a neighborhood that constantly looses its electricity every time we have a thunderstorm. Let's just hope the weather isn't too bad.
Comments: Doggone if Mrs, Martinez wasn't back here overnight, spreading her joy around. Please, Mrs. M, take your business elsewhere.
Comments: Lynell, apparently the invasion of the SOC sites is happening to all of them. I was checking something out on the SOC 65 site, and a huge Alert came up on my screen that a harmful phishing attack was about to happen to my computer. Thanks to my Kapersky virus scanner, it saved the day and I exited immediately without any damage to my computer. There seems to be a problem with connecting to this site regularly as the virus scanner will not allow me to do it, stating there is a harmful URL virus attached. The only way I can access this is to go to guestbook SOC 63; otherwise I cannot see anything else, pictures, memorials or anything else. Tommy Daniels had the same problem. This is not a complaint, but something that might help you on your end to see what is happening. The internet seems full with hackers and crazies out there now days.
Comments: Don't get me wrong. I'm very happy for Mrs. Joy Martinez and her ex-lover. May their tribe increase. However, she needs to peddle her wares elsewhere. Zap to you, Mrs. Martinez!
Comments: How do these people find us? Frustrating!!!
Comments: Lynell , we have been zapped again!
Comments: John "Smarty Pants" Southworth, I wanted to know. It's been well over a week but I read an obit for the son of David Minshew. He committed suicide. So sad. My brain doesn't categorize as well as it used to, and I couldn't remember if David were a SOC friend or a Gaston Ave. Baptist Church friend. And since I've had the flu or something like it for over a week, my brain is extremely fuzzy. Been running fever for 5 days but had to come to work for a little while, mainly an incentive to get up and take a shower!
Comments: Grady Coomes, Henry Coomes' son from his second marriage....died on Valentine's Day. Grady had Esophageal Cancer that had spread to his liver. Kelly Coomes Buchanan McFarlane asked for prayers on Facebook. Kellie, is Claudia and Henry's daughter. Grady is her half brother. In his picture, Grady is quite handsome. He had been in pain for some time and they were asking for prayers of 'mercy' for him. From pictures on FB, it was evident that Grady smoked. Don't know any particulars, as yet. If my memory serves me correctly, Grady was Henry's father's name. He was a Dallas Fireman as my father was.. If one were to go searching, there's probably something on the internet about this..or there will be. I knew Henry since Boude Storey, as well as SOC. Claudia and I became friends at SOC. Henry died maybe 3 years ago.?
Comments: Maybe he did ... maybe he didn't. Who wants to know?
Comments: Did David Minshew go to SOC with us?
Comments: Take a look at the back page of today's DMN Arts & Life section for a bit of nostalgia. Steve and I actually saw the Undercover Boss episode and had never heard of this store. But a trip to Frisco might be coming soon!
Comments: Yes, Phyllis, we were intruded upon. I used my magic powers to zap the pest.
Comments: Have we been spammed, or what?
Comments: I just read a post on Facebook by Terry Harmon's sister, Jackie, that Lonnie's wife Terry has passed away. She has been very ill. Lonnie has been a wonderful friend to our class. I am so sorry for the family's loss.
Comments: Happy Birthday, Kathleen and All!
Comments: I would like to wish my fellow SOC 63 classmates Sandra Osborn and Wayne Zablosky a Happy 70th Birthday today. It is hard for me to believe that we are all turning 70 today. I certainly don't feel that old, as I am sure they don't either.
Comments: Sharon, thanks! I hope this link works. http://www.dallasnews.com/opinion/editorials/20150125-editorial-kay-leaks-symbolizes-why-pleasant-grove-is-special.ece
Comments: Check out Monday's Dallas Morning News editorial page. Sorry I didn't see it until late last night or I would have posted then.
Comments: Thanks, Lynell. Now I see it.
Comments: Peaches, the thing about Kay was a letter to the editor in last Sunday's paper, in the Points section.
Comments: do you know what section the article about kay was in? I can not find it. Kathleeen, I got to Circle Grill sometimes on Saturday or Sunday mornings for breakfast.....love their breakfast.....best gravy and biscuits. Maybe I will see you there some day!
Comments: Yes, thank you Lynell for publishing it. I was talking to someone yesterday at the Circle Grill Restaurant who remembered Kay and her husband coming in. She was shocked to have read that Kay had passed away. I hadn't realized that Kay was such an active citizen. |
