Comments: Sad to hear about Gloria Jean. There was a time during our Junior High days when I was madly in love with her. I saw her occasionally through the years, but not recently. She will be missed.
Comments: I’m so sorry to learn of Gloria’s death. It’s cold down here by the Golf(ha) and our humidity makes seem colder. But, not as cold as North Texas!! Wow! I remember those winters in Dallas. You SOCites up there stay safe inside😱❄️

Comments: David and I used this miserable weather day to do our taxes. They’re a piece of cake now that we don’t have two businesses to wrangle! The only vehicle that’s been by on our busy street today was an ambulance, headed up the hill to the hospital.
Comments: Our puppies don’t like. But, neither do I.
Comments: I hate cold weather so I'm not venturing out for any reason. It just started sleeting mixed with freezing rain here, and it's really coming down hard. The part of our patio that isn't covered was covered in ice in a matter of minutes. It's also thundering, so I guess this is what the weather dudes are calling "thunder sleet."
Comments: Yeah, Bill, we never knew Charlotte lives on the golf coast. The truth is out! Y‘all stay warm, and don’t go outside tomorrow to see if it’s slick. It probably will be!

Comments: The party was great, and Peaches' home looked beautiful as always. There were quite a few there. Enough to fill up three tables and still have some eating off their laps in the living room. It was nice to get to visit with old classmates that haven't been able to gather for several years.
Comments: How was the Christmas Party at Peaches‘ lovely home? If pictures were put on FB i don’t see them, because I’m off that site for now and only do Instagram.
Comments: It will be so great to be able to attend another Christmas SOC gathering at Peaches' lovely home. It's been a "minute" since we were able to do this, and I hope we get a big turnout. It will be a fantastic opportunity to visit again with good friends!
Comments: Barry, I am so sorry you are dealing with the cancer beast and wish you the very best as you prevail. You are wise to avoid groups during this time of year. I wish Jay and his wife a pleasant and happy season. That caregiving can be exhausting.

Comments: From time to time, I stay in touch with Jay and Gayle Kralik. I failed to mention in my last post concerning my visit with them is that Gayle suffers with osteoporosis and Alzheimer’s. Jay is her sole caregiver and it is very hard on him. Out of respect for their privacy, I was reluctant to mention this, but thought some of you might want to know.
Comments: Peaches, I’m afraid we will miss your party this year. I am still fighting cancer and, although I feel fine, my immune system is so bad that I have to avoid crowds. We have not been able to attend church for over two years. Luckily, we can attend online. Give everyone our best. Barry and Joan
Comments: Thank you Peaches for the Christmas party event, we will have to pass as of right now I am unable to walk due to severe sciatica and degenerating spinal disease. Comments: We got thru the tornados last Friday. The tub is not large enough for me,Nancy,and 2 dogs . There was one just 5 miles east of us. Lots of damage just west of and north of Paris I remember the one we had in oakcliff in 1957. It went up Hampton road . Need to get a shelter next spring.Be safe everyone.Dan

Comments: I spoke to Peaches about writing these memories about Rodger Lynn Davis and she encouraged me to do so.<br><br>If my memory serves me well this is how it went:<br>I met Rodger at South Oak Cliff, and he asked me to meet him at Britton's Cycle Company to meet with the owner and Bud Mayes his Race assistant. I ended up joining the team racing Honda Motorcycles. Rodger was always at every event that I was in and always gave me good advice and he knew that I had a "Need for Speed". If I remember correctly Rodger lived on a street behind Clinton P. Russell and that is where I met his mom and dad and brother Ronnie. His dad was always giving some good advice as we spent time in his garage. When I completed the build on my 1955 Chevy, I was able to join Rodger and James Turner to cruise Kiest Park, the Nut, and the D.Q. on Hampton Road. Rodger asked me if he could use my personal Honda motorcycle to ride down the hall at South Oak Cliff Highschool and if I would open the Noth end doors so he could get in. I agreed so the plan was set, however I didn't realize that we would end up in Ben Mathews office who had a heart condition and that we may not graduate according to him. And there was the time that Rodger had Ronnie's Corvette and he and I decided we would try to get the Dallas Police to chase us just off Davis Avenue, so with lights off we were going thru side streets and were lucky enough not to be killed. Later in life when Rodger lived in Farmers Branch, I visited him on occasion just to stay in touch and that is where I saw his Isso Revolta and what his plans were for that car. Then there was the time that he wanted me to watch a video he had filmed at Green Valley Racetrack, and he had filmed me in my white 1957 Chevy racing that day. I look forward to the day that I see my friend Rodger Lynn Davis again<br><br><br>
Comments: Pat, you are so right about what we do in the dash. I was unable to attend Rodger’s Memorial. I’m so glad you and so many could. Thank you Bill for the photos. What a beautiful place to honor our Veterans!
Comments: Connie, you’re so right. Rodger was unique. I doubt he ever had an enemy, even overseas. He was an all around good person. The pictures were taken by the Patriot Guard, and sent to me by Bill Akin. I just posted them. I was unable to attend the service last Friday. I hope you’re well. |
