Charlotte, I accidentally hit the " post message": when I meant to it hit the "preview" and the only way I could make a correction was to retype the whole paragraph. So I just left it.

Go to the Existential Primer..( internet)  Dostoevsky was obviously from a 'dysfunctional family'.
Aren't we all...?  He's argued as an existential writer and not an existential writer.

Dostoevsky is quoted on From All Creatures.org..  What he says 'rings' true.. In this world where we are trying to encourage..green...and protecting endangered species..

Ginger, Maybe Martha meant Dostovesky looses you in the history, the existentialists philosophy and the descriptive detaisl of his work/novels. I don't know if "sourpuss" is quite the word most people would use to describe him. Russian novelists always give you money's worth. Remember Tolstoy's novel WAR AND PEACE.

Now Martha, I thought he said some good things.. He was telling us to be good to the animals..and...Humans are the ones that pollute the Earth...I don't get Sourpuss out him..

What a sour puss Dostoevsky was.  Wouldn't you just love being seated by him at a dinner party.

Here's the whole thing or paragraph..."Love animals: God has given them the rudiments of thought and joy untroubled. Do not trouble their joy, don't harrass them, don't deprive them of their happiness, don't work against God's intent. Man, do not pride yourself on superiority to animals; they are without sin, and you, with your greatness, defile the earth by your apppearance on it, and leave the traces of your foulness after you - alas, it is true of almost every one of us!"
I copied this...I'm so impressed with me..!

Maybe having wild animals calm around humans is not the best idea for their sake..........take that shot gun of yours for example.....ahem...not a good idea.  I know it is fun to feed and pet Buddy, but, well you know what I mean.

There was a Buddy sighting last night.  She was coming back from next door, but still took the long route to avoid me.  She is walking a little better.  I saw her by the deck when we were eating dinner and then she disappeared.  There is always food and water on the deck, so sooner or later...
And tell those women in East Texas that I am somewhat normal.  The nice thing about a squirrel as a pet is that you don't have to make arrangements for them to be cared for if you are out of town.  People want to take her picture at the vet's office.  And, it's more fun to gain the trust of a wild animal than a domesticated  dog or cat.  We're working on the Aoudad sheep out at 7R.  Now that would be a PET!

Barry, Buddy is out there secretly thanking you for feeding her and for getting her ailment diagnosed.  We have lived with cats who'd shun us for a day or two after a manicure before they'd get all over us again.  Fortunately, our current precious babies couldn't care less if we cut their nails.  Forget to feed 'em?  Then they care.  Buddy will show up at your door soon.  Trust me on this.

So sorry that the Vet was unable to help Buddy.

I sure hope she is able to recover by herself.

I bet she will be fine.  And I am glad that her babies were still alive too.

Thanks for the interesting on goings about Buddy.

Keep us posted about her this Spring.

Peter was very jealous of Mary.. They left a lot of books...out..when they canonized the Bible..One of these days...maybe we'll correct that..

Ginger, It seems Jesus did a lot to hep further rights for women and was one of our first feminists. If any of you have been watching the history channel recently, you saw the documentary on the book supposedly written by Mary Magdalene. According to this book, Jesus trusted her more than he did the other disciples. She was a founder and leader of the church, but later was negated by early church fathers because she was a woman.

Barry, I am glad to hear Buddy and her babies are doing well.  I told the story of you taking her to the vet and paying $100.00 to have her examined at a brunch here Saturday in East Texas and the laughter could have been heard all the way to Dallas.  Wild things are thought of differently here.  But they did think you were a nice guy.

OOH....You guys are going to have a big party..!

Hooray for the Presbyterians that ordain women... I served as the PT Choir Director in a small United Methodist Church.. We had 2 female ministers..while I was there.. I heard some left because the 'Bishop' appointed a female..
**Also the Methodists call the Communion Service..The Great Thanksgiving.. One of our ministers was also a musician and she 'sang' The Great Thanksgiving'.. The next female minister comes in and she 'doesn't sing the Communion/ The Great Thanksgiving'. Some people left because of that.. I'm constantly entertained by church members that get 'huffy-puffy' and leave..Some time they have good reasons, some time they don't.

Our church is Presbyterian USA and we do ordain women.  I'm not sure about the Presbyterian PCA churches.  We have both in our area.  The history of churches gets very convoluted over the years.  We left one church because they got a woman pastor.  I'm not sure we left because she was a woman or that we just didn't like her.  I hope it was the latter.

Presbyterians...Smesbyterians..I worked for the Independent Presbyterians for 5 yrs..here..
Did you know that Presbyterians up North...Ordain Women and the Presbyterians down here...Don't...!  Well..you know what I think of that..
**I humorously assign groups of people..groups of animals, their own heaven.. ie...
Al Capone would go to Mafia Heaven... It's one of my creative...facets..of my brain..
Now...I'm not saying just how 'enjoyable' Mafia Heaven would be..
I definitely think 'Fundamentalists' should have their own heaven...Maybe an Island...and soon..
*** Tongue in Cheek Humor....entertains me..I don't know about anyone else, but it entertains me.. Squirrel Heaven could be good...!

I don't know if that is good or bad!  Presbyterians don't believe that animals go to heaven, so I'm not so sure I want to go to squirrel heaven.  Of course, that might be my only choice-squirrel heaven or hell.  I don't like the sound of that.

Buddy Report;
I know you have all been holding your breath awaiting the report of the vet visit.  Most important thing was it only cost $53.  The bad thing was that they didn't do anything but examine her.  She has torn tendons in her left rear ankle (already some healing)  and the vet did not recommending operating.  I asked the girl that brought Buddy out to the waiting room what Buddy's likely reaction would be when we got back home "She will get as far from you and your house as possible!"  And that's what she did, but she was back yesterday.  She moved her young'uns to a tree in our front yard, but she will have nothing to do with Joan and I for now.  The young'uns are warming up to us and will get to within about a foot of us.  Time will tell with Buddy.  She is so vulnerable with her limited mobility.  If whatever tried to get her the first time comes back, I'm afraid she'll be a goner.

Was The Old Ranger host of that 20-mule team Borax show?  Seems like he died and Ronald Reagan took over as host.  Wasn't it on Sunday nights, back when TV was worth watching?  I remember watching it in my bathrobe.
