Comments: Lynell, so sorry I missed your birthday. Dear Lynell, happy birthday to you and mannnny more!
Comments: The best football game I saw over the weekend was the North Dakota State Bisons vs. Illinois Redbirds. North Dakota was going for its 4th straight championship and was trailing with a little over a minute left and 80 yards to go. They won! The pro games were a let down after that. There were some dubious calls in the Cowboys game, not only from the officials but from the coaches too. Oh well, let's take up the mantra again, "Wait until next year."
Comments: Kathleen, I just realized that I wished you a happy anniversary, but neglected to wish our own Lynell a happy birthday! So, HAPPY BIRTHDAY, LYNELL!! I am getting more scatter brained as the years go by. I have all of you in by prayers for the coming year. Love, Donna Gwin Libhart
Comments: Donna, Thanks for the congratulations. I hope you guys are feeling better. I just hate this weather. We watched the Cowboys game today. Am I the only one who doesn't think that BRYANT didn't drop the ball? He was hanging on to the ball while trying to score. What a strange way for the cowboys to loose.
Comments: Dear Kathleen, Happy Anniversary to you and your hubby. Hughie and I had out 47th on December 23. We stayed in and celebrated with antibiotics and juices, but were able to have a family Christmas on the weekend! Just saying, we are getting on to the sickness rather than the health part of those vows! Hughie says I am killing him with kindness. We toast each other with peach tea and cough syrup now days. He keeps things interesting. Everyone have a prosperous 2015!!! Donna Gwin Libhart
Comments: Happy Birthday Lynell. You and Bill are both GOATS. His birthday is Tuesday, the 13th and also our 47th Wedding Anniversary. As for walking the cats today, we actually had cats that would go for a walk with us every time we walked the dogs. Unfortunately, or orange cat, Clyde was always getting stuck up in our neighbors tree and was too afraid to come down. Better luck walking your cats.
Comments: Birthday Greetings to Lynell Garrett Smith. As I sip my morning coffee it is refreshing to ponder the concept that there is at least one classmate older than me. After you finish taking the cats on their morning walk, feel free to take the rest of the day off.

Comments: Phyllis, thanks for posting that we have a superman in our class. I am sure he is also an outstanding lawyer. RUN LARRY RUN!!!
Comments: Preview from Monday's Texas Lawyer:While many in the United States celebrated the end of 2014 with champagne and college football bowl games, Larry Macon planned to do what he always does—run a marathon. The 70-year-old Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld partner will be at the starting line hoping to complete the 26.2-mile run—and there's little doubt that he will finish it, since it will be the 1,410th time he has run such a race. The Dec. 31 San Antonio race in which he's competing is part of the 12 Days of Christmas marathon series. Macon is the current Guinness world record holder for the most marathons run in one year—a record he has broken five times. By the end of 2014, Macon will have run 36,942 miles in his lifetime. Comments: I am sorry, Michele, Your Dad was a Junior in 1963. He was a wonderful young man! Thanks, Donna Gwin Libhart
Comments: Dear Michele, I remember your Dad as a very sweet, handsome young man who was on the "B" team of the Golden Bears. He always had a smile on his face and was very popular with all the girls. My best memory of him was our graduation in June, 1963. He was a sophomore usher at the State Fair Music Hall, and he was guiding us up the steps from the floor of the Hall to the stage. I was trying to be elegant and graceful, but it didn't work that way!. He held my hand and I was able to get up the steps. I said "just call me Grace" and he laughed. I am happy that your Dad was such a wonderful example for you to follow. I wish I had known him better. Best Wishes for you and your family Donna Gwin Libhart
Comments: Hello. My name is Michele Frazier. My dad's name is James A. Frazier. He went to South Oak Cliff class of 64. He passed away in 1985. I would just love to get to speak with anyone who knew him. I love and miss him so much. Thank you
Comments: Larry, We so appreciate you letting us know about Bedford. We remember him well as the little "rebel rouser" brother of our dear Mary. I think of her often and knew that Bedford was not well. Bless your family at this sad time. 63 Class, I'm sadden at the news of Kay's death. She was a very special childhood friend of mine. She , Ouida and I were very close at Lisbon. She had such a sweet personality. Why she put up with me I'll never know.
Comments: Sorry, wrong class.
Comments: Larry, thank you for letting us know about our Mary's little brother. I'm sorry to learn of his passing.
Comments: For all you Class of '63 folks: FORREST BEDFORD MCCORD, JR. (June 1, 1946-December 24, 2014) About the time I was starting my 5:30 Christmas Eve service, my brother, Forrest Bedford McCord, Jr. left this life. At some later time, I hope to write a more fitting memorial, but for now I will simply say that I have lost one of my dearest and closest family members. Like my two sisters, he was struck with cancer and the invasive brain procedure and treatments left him primarily bedridden for the past few years. Had it not been for the total devotion and care of his wife, Luanne, mother-in-law, Gerry Sheffield, and step-son Jake, I'm sure we would have lost him much sooner. As you all know, Bedford loved SOC and all his classmates (though he was quite the rebel rouser and ladies' man back in the day). No services are planned but a visitation-type event may take place later. I'll keep you updated. Thanks for all the joy you each brought to my brother's life
Comments: Valerie, called me Christmas Eve to wish me a Merry Christmas and to let me know that it was determined that Kay had a heart attack. As far as anyone knew her heart had always been fine. Hope all of you are having a wonderful Christmas. We had a fabulous Christmas Eve. Lots of good food, plenty of presents and my beautiful six year old granddaughter, who I love with all my heart. Merry Christmas everyone!
Comments: John, that is really a wonderful picture of Kaye. Valeriie Adamson Bannister who was really close to Kay and her family sent me an email saying Kaye was found dead in her bed. This was really a shock to her family. Sometime ago she had undergone treatments for cancer, but this may or may not be relevant.
Comments: Thank you, John.
Comments: Below is a link to Kay Strickland Leaks' obituary with a not-to-recent pic of her and a connection to post a comment. She was a neat gal in high school. http://www.jaynesmemorialchapel.com/obituaries/obituary-listings?obId=370940#/obituaryInfo
Comments: Sharon, glad you liked the pictures. You were missed! It was a great party.
Comments: Kathlen, I don't know.
Comments: Lynell. How dod Kaye die? I saw her and husband recently at the Circle Grill on Buckner. She looked healthy and she and I were planning on getting together after New Years.

Comments: Thanks for the pictures. Sure glad John and Dru drove up and sorry I missed them. Looks as if everyone was having a great time as usual. I'm working a short week and will not be looking forward to going back to work. I could get used to a 2-day work week! Watched some of the best high school championship football games this weekend ever. The stadium workers at JerryWorld had their hands full. There were three games on both Friday and Saturday, and the last games weren't over until almost midnight. Then the Cowboy game yesterday. And, what a game, wow. Hope everyone has a Blessed Christmas and Prosperous New Year. |
