I posted pictures from the December 7 Luncheon on the events page. Just click the top button to see them. Some are mine, and some were taken by Dru Southworth. Many thanks to Dru and John for sending them.
I'll warn y'all that I had an issue with the slideshow feature on Smugmug where the photos are posted. I emailed them, and I know they will fix it. You may need to scroll through them one at a time till they look at it.
If anyone else has pictures they'd care to share, please send them to me.

When we sold my mom's home a year ago, we were amazed at all the Christmas stuff she had in boxes, sacks, etc.  She always decorated but I guess we didn't pay that much attention.  She did have several ceramic trees and figurines, so each of the great grandchildren took one home.  We found ornaments that I remembered putting on the tree when I was a small child.  I wish I had kept more of them, especially since she came to live with us.

Donna. this is the time of year that reminds me most of my parents.  My mother loved the Christmas holidays and went to a lot of trouble cooking and buying us gifts that she thought my brother and I might like. She made Christmas fun.  I have really enjoyed buying presents this year for my six year old granddaughter.  Have any of you been to a store called Justice __Just for Girls?  The store is located next to Target in Medallion Center.  I love that store.  They have everything you would ever want to buy for girls and needless to say I spent a small fortune in that store.  I suppose that many of you with grandchildren are having a hard time keeping your budget under control.  Merry Christmas to everyone!!!

It's always so nice to see Donna's name on here.
If anybody took pictures at the luncheon Dec. 7, and you'd like to share them with this website, please email them to me. My battery went kaflooey shortly after I arrived there, and I just took a few pictures. Oops!

Hello, everyone! I was remembering my own dear Mother, Elizabeth Gwin, who passed away in 2008.  Christmas was her favorite time of year.  She always managed to gift me with something I needed.  She usually called Hughie or Tina, our daughter for hints.  One year she gifted me with several of her own Secret Pal gifts, some little figurines with birds and animals and a cute little dancing Santa.  When I decorate with these precious items, I am reminded of her.  Dear Peaches, I hope you have a wonderful time with your Mother.  I remember when Daddy died in 1964, your Mother sent a beautiful card to Mom.  Loraine is very special and Mom regretted not being able to keep in touch with her.  She told me she lost her address.  So wish her a very happy birthday from the Gwin family,
Merry Christmas and a Happy and Prosperous New Year to All.

I was thinking the same thing, Peaches.  Were pictures taken at the Christmas party? I keep looking for some!   I was feeling puny and didn't get to attend.  I know I missed a great time.  I'm almost ready for Christmas.  Finally got my house and tree decorated over the weekend.  My sister has a Santa collection that over the years grew to 500+, so she decided to downsize a couple of years ago and started giving them away to family members.  She's given me a number of them and they were ones I gave her over the years!

Hope everyone is having a great week.

Next Saturday, December 20th is my mother (Loraine Williams') 93rd birthday. I am brining her home to my house for a visit with her family and friends. If you know my mother, please send her a birthday card to my addresss (8791 Oak Stream, Dallas, TX 75243). She would love to hear the names of people in her present and past remembering her. She is the most dear mother a person could ask for. She had a stroke about 1 1/2 years ago and can not do anything for herself. My mother never complains about the situation she is in. I want this birthday to be very special and hearing from those who knew her will make it that way.
Thank you!

Well. we finished the last of the turkey tonight.  Hope all of you had a great Thanksgiving.  I now have a large tray of fresh veggies to figure out what to do with and a large bowl of green beans.  I wish I knew one of those chefs who can come up with tasty recipes using various ingredients that are available in the kitchen.

Hi again Kathleen!
Roe is a few hours south of us.......we are about 40 miles south of Branson Missouri in far northwest AR. It is indeed beautiful here. We may move one more time if we have it in us...lol. Our only grand daughter is in Fort Worth ( 7 years old) and if we were fortunate enough to find a place smaller than we have now on a lake or river closer to our son's family we would consider it. We are on 8 park-like acres now, but as I get older the upkeep gets harder.
When you hear from Roe tell him I said hello.
Here's wishing you and yours a wonderful holiday season.

Happy holidays to all you old golden bears out there.

Hello everybody!
I was hoping that I would be able to make the luncheon on December 7, but we are having out of state company the first week of December and Hughie is involved with The Grand Lodge in Waco that week.  He has been a Mason for twenty-five years.
So have a really wonderful time visiting and we might see you at the next luncheon.  Have a Happy Thanksgiving and a Merry Christmas!!!
My birthday is the 4th and our 47th anniversary is the 23rd.  Just remember, one day at a time!!
Love,
Donna Gwin Libhart

Good morning Duane,  You may not live too far from Roe.  He lives in DeKalb, Tx.  He has a beautiful farm there which keeps him busy.  We live close to White Rock Lake in Dallas.  I taught high school in the Dallas schools for years.  My husband is a retired professor.  He taught 41 years in the Anthropology department at SMU.  His PhD is from  the University of Texas, Austin in Linguistics.  I am sorry to learn that your mother has passed away.  She thought the world of you.  Our parents also passed away sometime ago.  It must be wonderful that you get to live in Arkansas.  When my husband was the Director of the Cherokee Bilingual program some years ago we lived in Northeastern Oklahoma and loved it.  We often spent time in Arkansas.

Hi John Southworth!
How are you?
I'm sorry we will not be in the Dallas area on December 7...appreciate the invite. We will be there about a week or so after that for our grand daughter's Bday on the 16th. Maybe next year.......I will try and keep in touch through this site.
Good to hear from you!

Hello Kathleen!
How have you been?
I remember you and Roe both. I hope all is well with both of you.
Here's my most vivid memory of Roe:
He was sitting in my living room holding Tiny, my boston terrier in his lap. I told him that I could sic tiny on him and he would become aggressive. Roe proceeded to tell me that Tiny was his friend and would be fine with him. Skipping to the ending:
Roe went running home with a bite on his nose and cheek. I followed him home and he was alright, but he was now a believer. Sounds a lot meaner when I write it.
My wife Kathy and I live in the Ozark mountains of Arkansas now. We've been here nine years. Mom died in January of 2010 (Alzheimer's) and is buried in a beautiful country cemetery overlooking a valley about 2 miles from our house.
Great hearing from you!!

Hello Bob Chaney!! How have you been? Yes I remember that trip to Temple; I never forget the wild times from the glory days. I had the opportunity to work with Ed Arnold who was a couple of years behind us in school when I was with Kroger. When I asked him where he went to high school and he told me SOC and I told him I did too; he immediately said that he did not know me then, but he was quick to say that he was told all about our trip when he got there!!!

Anyone heard from or know the whereabouts of Robert Taylor???
