Comments: Up too late again, but I was perusing the "Oak Cliff Boomers" group on FaceBook and there was mention of the Dallas Cowboy cheerleaders back in the day in which they even had guys on the squad. There was a link that you could follow which takes you to photos of the cheerleaders going all the way back to 1961. At that time the Cowboys recruited cheerleaders from the different Dallas high schools. It is refreshing to see our Mary McCord's big smile in the original group. ![]()
Comments: It's interesting being in a small town with 1 grade school, 1 middle school, and 1 high school.. Their paper is the Gatesville Messenger. You can get on line and see some it. It only comes out on Wednesdays and Saturdays.. The whole town is behind the Gatesville Hornets.. The newspaper and all the merchants.. Many of the 'oldtimers' still go to the games.. Quite a different scenario from the big city! There's a lady named Velma here, that went to Gatesville HS with my cousin (once removed or so). That's Truett Hopson, who died in 2012, My grandfather was his uncle.. People will ask me 'who' I'm kin to here, and I'll say the Hopsons and the Dixons. One lady said this morning.."Oh you're one of those"... Well, the start of life in small town 'America'..
Comments: Happy birthday, Janelle! What a nice gift, to hook up with an old friend like that.
Comments: Connection made to Susie Pierce! Thanks to all those who helped make this possible. Today, of all days, my 66th b'day, Susie contacted me. Cant't believe we're in touch. This means so very much to me. Now, we just need to figure out who those two cute boys are.
Comments: JS, what a great post! I like the idea of the "virtual cemetery" and wonder how they did it. Www.findagrave.com is an amazing website. Through it, I met a distant relative who had researched my grandmother's family back to before the Revolutionary War. As for the Pat Monahan video -- wow! I even liked the Toyota ad that preceded it. Happy birthday, Ms Patricia!
Comments: I was perusing the Class of '64 Guestbook tonight (well ... its early morning now) and was quite impressed with Robert Rommel's diligent work in setting up the first "virtual" online SOC Cemetery. Lots of familiar names and faces will come to mind. Here's the link: http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=vcsr&GSvcid=384164 And while I'm at it, yesterday I heard a country-western song that caught my attention. It's message was "We all got bruises". Perhaps that could be the theme of next month's reunion - I mean, after 50 years we all definitely got bruises! http://www.youtube.com/watch?annotation_id=annotation_87021&feature=iv&src_vid=Mil8F3qfLqk&v=LmXaaEvnnOQ
Comments: It is 12:45am ... so let me get a jump on all those other well-wishers in sending "official" Birthday Greetings to Pat V. Is it too early for cake?
Comments: Happy Birthday Pat!!! Love you my friend
Comments: Yes indeed! HAPPY BIRTHDAY PATRICIA.
Comments: Happy birthday to you, Happy birthday to you, happy birthday DearPat Vessels dear dear friend, Happy birthday to you!!!!!!! And many many more!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Comments: I do not know who those guys are but they were lucky dogs. Even though I always thought Janelle was the cutest. Looking forward to seeing everyone at the reunion.
Comments: Lynell, I m sure of the name. I believe she was a high school ( senior?) friend but I could be wrong. I know this is a long shot but wanted to see if she could fill in some blanks for me.
Comments: Janelle, are you sure of Susie's last name? Might that be a married name? Bobby Moffett, what say ye?
Comments: I don't know why I am traveling down memory lane lately but does anyone recall a classmate, Susie Pierce? I recall that she had a tiny voice and was blonde, a real cutie. She was a close friend to my sister and I would like to track her down if possible. Thanks guys,
Comments: Is darlin Tina covering her ears from the VAHROOM of those "mean moter cycles" ? So cute!!!
Comments: Janelle, thank you so much for sharing this treasured picture of your big sis.
Comments: Well won't this be fun trying to guess who these guys are? I think the background reminds me of the street we lived on, Pentagon Parkway. Kiest Park sounds more reasonable though. I also wondered if these two were from my brother's class as he was older? Class of '55 or '57?
Comments: Because beautiful Tina looks so young, and so do those handsome boys, maybe this was during the Storey years. Half the Storeyites went on to Adamson. JS, maybe someone from Adamson would know the guys. I wonder who took the picture -- the dark haired boy's date maybe? I think the background looks like Kiest Park.
Comments: someone put them on the '62 site
Comments: Is one of the boys Will Skinner? I know he was a blond headed kid and had a 175cc Allstate motorcycle with a buddy seat. Maybe one of my old motorcycle riding buddies like Rodger Davis can help us out with this?
Comments: They are absolutely adorable. Wonder if they were "bad" boys? One can only dream. Hope she had fun. Ha
Comments: Thank you, Janelle! Your picture of Tina and the two boys is adorable, just like I remember her. I wish I knew who the boys were. They look familiar.
Comments: Here is Janelle's old photo (1950s?) of her sister Tina Carroll (class of '62), having a good time with two young guys. So, the big question is "Who are they and what became of them?". Janelle would appreciate any help in identifying them. ![]() Thanks, Janelle, for sharing some old memories.
Comments: Lynell, Sorry I just forgot. Duly noted. ha. I am sending the pic to John and he will post it online for me.
Comments: Memo to Janelle Carroll-Kimball: Janelle, I dropped you an email at an old Comcast address I have for you. Hopefully, the suggestions will allow you to get the pic posted. It appears you are currently housing the pic on your private, personal computer which we out here have no way to access: http://Users/Janelle/Desktop/motorcycles.jpg For the "public" to view it, the image will need to be saved somewhere out on the internet. Then it will have a url address that can be accessed and viewed. Check your email for a couple of solutions. Hope all is well in your world.
Comments: Mr. Graham, didn't you ever read the funny papers when the character cleared his throat? Or actually that silly poster could be at a hem of his pants or lower. LOL
Comments: Janelle, how nice to see you. Try cutting and pasting that pic. It needs to be a small file. Good luck!
Comments: A gentle reminder to all posters: Please sign in with your first and last name. Other posts may be deleted.
Comments: Well, clearly that didn't work. How do you post a picture within this text?
Comments: Would anyone know who these two boys are out for a ride with my sister, Tina Carroll? I would love to know. ![]() |
