Comments: I have lost a couple of dear ones to suicide. Smart, funny, valuable people. I will never comprehend it.
Comments: happiness or unhappiness has nothing to do with depression. I know it is hard for people to understand this horrible condition or why people end their lives . Can you even imagine being in so much pain that ending your life is the only way to stop the pain? Or, feeling that the people around you,, your loved ones, would be better off if you were dead? It is beyond comprehension for those who do not have this debilitating disease. One cannot have an operation to remove it or take chemo to stop it. Perhaps this sad death will help people in need get help and others to educate themselves about depression.
Comments: I have been so sad lately over the suicide of Robin Williams. It is hard to understand how someone who had so much going for him and was so beloved by so many people would be so unhappy. It seems comics like to use comedy to mask their unhappiness. So many of them end up committing suicide. Also, Lauren Bacall passed away at the age of 89.
Comments: I will check with my good friend, Dr. Proctor, I'm sure he was the attending physician.
Comments: Ken: I went back and found a picture of the bruise. It was actually the ankle. My memory is not what it once was....
Comments: Ken: I remember that bruise. Are you sure it wasn't on the upper thigh? That's where I seem to remember it. Perhaps you should take a poll.
Comments: You are right. The episode escapes my memory...but, um, I believe(?) you!
Comments: Probably a throwback to 1963...when Ms Michelle and Mr Ford agreed to let me skip study hall and sit in as an observer in Ramon's English class. One day you showed me a bruise on your thigh...uh...lower thigh. I'm sure you have no memory of this episode, but it is etched in my mind forever.
Comments: Well, in my case it could have been.......??????
Comments: Oh, Ken. You know me better than that. If it had been beer, I would have said so. I'm just glad that TAB made a comeback. It was getting really hard to find. My bruises are healing nicely and I'm wearing slacks so no one can see my knees and freak!
Comments: Key words...."six-packs"
Comments: Oh Sharon! Ouch!! I hope you are better by now. I have a HUGE bruise on my thigh and have no idea how It got there. Talk about worry... Sheesh.
Comments: Yesterday, I tripped and fell. Fortunately, I fell in my house and the damage is not too bad. It could have been a lot worse. One badly bruised big toe, bruises on the palm and wrist of one hand, slight scrape on left elbow, but two badly bruised knees, and sore muscles everywhere. And, it was my fault. I had brought groceries in from the car and I put two six-packs of Tab on the floor in front of the pantry door (which I have never done before) so I could bring the remaining sacks in. Well, forgot they were there and while glancing at the mail, I simply tripped right over them. I'm starting to worry about myself.
Comments: Sharon, Some months are when everything breaks at once. This month seems to be the month when a lot of old friends either became very sick or passed away. It is so hard to "lose old friends" as the song goes.
Comments: I was wondering the same thing! Last month I had to replace the transmission in my truck. Over the weekend had to replace my washer and dryer. I'm not looking forward to next month.
Comments: Gosh; where is everyone?
Comments: I think I've decided not to get on a plane any time soon.
Comments: Who nose ? Is right... Ahem! AND, you are right Lynell ."those shots were awful for little people,,,as in 6 year olds. Sharon,......so sad James Garner is gone,,,sigh..he was such a handsome, great actor..l.l. 86 years old,,,,um....getting closer...sigh!
Comments: Yes, Charlotte, you are correct about the Afrin narrowing the veins. Nell told me this morning that she had another, but minor, nosebleed on Friday evening, and that the Afrin stopped it. She is going to go to an ENT doctor as quickly as she can get an appointment. Don't know what I was watching over the weekend, but didn't know about James Garner until this morning. We always watched Maverick and Rockford Files, and I loved his movies too.
Comments: Charlotte, re your question : "Do you think it is because the Afrin shrinks the gains ( or veins) in the nose? " Who nose !!
Comments: Nice to hear from you, Ken. You mercifully omitted the part about every visit to Chester Clinic requiring a shot with a needle four inches long and the diameter of a pencil.
Comments: For those who didn't take Latin...pedictian is the Latin word for pediatrician.
Comments: Here are some Chester Clinic memories: As a kid, my dentist was there...Dr Hamby. My daughter was born at Chester Clinic. Her pedictician was there...Dr Ben Moore. I once saw Mickey Mantle walking down a hall at Chester Clinic...in a hospital gown! I met my idol there...Dr Proctor...he correctly diagnosed the cause of my severe bed wetting problem as the MPMC Syndrome (Miss Paschal Math Class). Many Lancaster Road Scholars were healed at Chester Clinic.
Comments: Yikes, Sharon!! That's scary. I was once in a deposition, and an "old" lawyer had a serious nosebleed. He was not aware that he was bleeding profusely. I thought the witness and other lawyer were going to faint. I made him stop asking questions and gave him a wad of Kleenex to press hard on his lip. Made him lie down and put ice on it, then drove him to his car. He was probably the age we are now, and I will never figure out how I got to be the paramedic. Phil your story is hilarious. Reminds me of the time I brushed my teeth with Ajax in hopes of that Farrah Fawcett look! It didn't work.
Comments: That's veins in the nose....sorry
Comments: Do you think it is because the Afrin shrinks the gains in the nose?
Comments: Had a real scary thing happen at work. My coworker, without any warning, got a nosebleed. And I mean a nosebleed. We're not talking a drop or two but a river. I was grabbing Kleenex, then paper towels and nothing was slowing it down. I realized we weren't going to stop it, so I called 911. Within a couple of minutes, a policeman was there and about another minute or so, the EMT's were there. They worked on her a good 15 minutes and didn't get it stopped. So she got to ride in the ambulance to the emergency room. They got it stopped by using Afrin nasal spray. Remember that! I've worked with her for 18 years and never has she had anything like that happen. However, she has been under an awful lot of stress for some time. I have to say that the EMT's were great, very calm. One of them even cleaned up the mess. I'm sure they were concerned because of all the blood. We're still cleaning up some blood today. Anyway, we might add Afrin to our emergency medicine kits.
Comments: Oh Phil...I am still laughing!!!!!!!
Comments: I called Chester Clinic one night when I gargled with PineSOL. My plan was to 'make out' and thought it was mouth wash. I called them and they asked if I threw up..I said yes and the man on the other end laughed and said I would be OK!
Comments: My only memory of Chester Clinic is being there for some shot. I don't know how old I was .....I fainted dead away after that shot and hit the Doc Procter's desk. |
