Here are some Chester Clinic memories:
As a kid, my dentist was there...Dr Hamby.
My daughter was born at Chester Clinic.
Her pedictician was there...Dr Ben Moore.
I once saw Mickey Mantle walking down a
hall at Chester Clinic...in a hospital gown!
I met my idol there...Dr Proctor...he correctly diagnosed
the cause of my severe bed wetting problem as the
MPMC Syndrome (Miss Paschal Math Class).
Many Lancaster Road Scholars were healed at Chester Clinic.

Yikes, Sharon!! That's scary. I was once in a deposition, and an "old" lawyer had a serious nosebleed. He was not aware that he was bleeding profusely. I thought the witness and other lawyer were going to faint. I made him stop asking questions and gave him a wad of Kleenex to press hard on his lip. Made him lie down and put ice on it, then drove him to his car. He was probably the age we are now, and I will never figure out how I got to be the paramedic.
Phil your story is hilarious. Reminds me of the time I brushed my teeth with Ajax in hopes of that Farrah Fawcett look! It didn't work.

Do you think it is because the Afrin shrinks the gains in the nose?

Had a real scary thing happen at work.  My coworker, without any warning, got a nosebleed.  And I mean a nosebleed.  We're not talking a drop or two but a river.  I was grabbing Kleenex, then paper towels and nothing was slowing it down.  I realized we weren't going to stop it, so I called 911.  Within a couple of minutes, a policeman was there and about another minute or so, the EMT's were there.  They worked on her a good 15 minutes and didn't get it stopped.  So she got to ride in the ambulance to the emergency room.  They got it stopped by using Afrin nasal spray.  Remember that!  I've worked with her for 18 years and never has she had anything like that happen.  However, she has been under an awful lot of stress for some time.  I have to say that the EMT's were great, very calm.  One of them even cleaned up the mess.  I'm sure they were concerned because of all the blood.  We're still cleaning up some blood today.  Anyway, we might add Afrin to our emergency medicine kits.

I called Chester Clinic one night when I gargled with PineSOL. My plan was to 'make out' and thought it was mouth wash. I called them and they asked if I threw up..I said yes and the man on the other end laughed and said I would be OK!

My only memory of Chester Clinic is being there for some shot. I don't know how old I was
.....I fainted dead away after that shot and hit the Doc Procter's desk.

I went to Chester Clinic, many times, even after graduation.  Rhonda Young Spann's family and mine were next-door neighbors, right down the street from it.  Rhonda's mother was a nurse, and I believe she even worked there for awhile.

Noticed an obit yesterday for a Dr. Chester (older female and attractive picture) and sure enough it turns out she worked with her brother John who owned the Chester Clinic in Oak Cliff.

Heard from Peaches a few minutes ago and she is already back to work and through the kindness of several classmates was able to go visit her mother several times last week.  Yea!

Remember Billy Carter, brother of Jimmy Carter? Of all the wedding venues in the world, he picked the Arboretum for his wedding. I remember being caught in a nightmare traffic jam on that happy occasion.

It's even worse around Love Field when the President comes to town.  I was working near Inwood and Lovers Lane when George W. Bush came to town, and my 30 minute trip home to North Oak Cliff took 2 hours!  And, for security purposes, they rarely publicize the President's exact route much in advance, so everyone was caught off guard during their evening rush hour commute, or -- worse yet -- if they had to get to the Airport to catch a plane.

Sharon, all retail operations probably should have closed because it was likely a thief's dream come true.

I know when the President comes to town that security is usually a lot tighter.  But geez!  When I left work yesterday, I went south on Hillcrest Road.  Starting from Northhaven (which is a couple of long blocks south of Forest Lane), there was a police car on each side of the road at every street and alley and sometimes two cars.  This parade went to Walnut Hill Lane.  Remember, this is only one street.  I'm sure there were cars at the other end of the streets east of Hillcrest.  The private residence where the fund raising dinner was held is in the area of Hillcrest and Royal.  I can't imagine how much money that pulled out of the City's coffers.  And, heaven help us, if a crime was committed during the hours these cops were just sitting there.  It's a good thing this doesn't happen often.

Peaches, we are all so glad your doing so well and are back home.  After all, we need the "mother of our class''  healthy so you can continue to  look out for the rest of us.  A job you are especially good at doing.  Happy 4th of July to everyone!!!  We plan on going to the DAC country club tonight for their spectacular fire works show.  I know there is a fireworks show at Fair Park tonight at 9:00.  Do any of you know of another fireworks show that might be fun to go see tonight?

I talked with Peaches and she is thrilled to be home. She is in good spirits and says she is not in a lot of pain. Thankfully her brother is there until Saturday to help her. She is awaiting biopsy reports sometime this week. Keep her in your thoughts and prayers.

I believe Peaches either went home yesterday or is going home today.  I haven't called her yet because I know she would like to get settled in and I'm sure she is exhausted.

It's tough being an employee.  After 39 years in the German car repair business, I finally sold my business at the end of May.  I agreed to stay on part-time for up to 6 months to help during the transition.  One of my friends said "You're going to make a lousy employee!"  My new "boss" told me to forget it if I was planning on trying to get fired.  One thing I have noticed, however, is that one of my longtime employees is staying with the new owner and, although subtle, his demeanor has changed a little toward me now that we are co-workers.  It's going to be a long 6 months!

Recently our local newspaper and the Conroe Courier carried a story regarding Wilkerson Intermediate School in The Woodlands. The school is built in the midst of an old logging camp that was active in the 1940's and 1950's. The Grogan-Cochran Lumber Company operated a sawmill that had a nearby "dunk" pond filled with chemicals to treat the logs before they were milled.

The school was built around 1974 and soon the students and faculty were reporting strong odors in the school, giving them headaches and other medical issues. Now in 2014 quite a few former students and teachers have come forward reporting a host of severe medical problems and questions are being raised as to whether or not their troubles are linked to the time they spent at Wilkerson.

I'm not certain where all this is headed ... just to further soil studies or perhaps a class action lawsuit? What struck me most about the story is that when we moved to The Woodlands in 1995 my sister-in-law was the Art teacher at Wilkerson Intermediate. In a nearby room was the Music teacher ... Mary McCord Bach.

Here is a link to the story: http://www.yourhoustonnews.com/courier/news/health-issues-concern-former-students/article_219a5e8d-42b3-5aeb-9d7e-155724b29525.html

I am very sad that she is gone even though I have not seen her in many years. I heard she had married a pilot & moved to New Zealand(she was airline stu). Does anyone know what happened to her? She was only 68-something must have been wrong. If anyone knows what happened, please email me & let me know. Thank you in advance--Mike

My dear wonderful SOC friends:

I am scheduled for surgery Thursday, June 26th 7:15 am at Presbyterian Hospital Dallas on Walnut Hill. I believe in the power of prayer so I am now requesting prayers specifically for the pathologists to have a very clear reading before doing the surgery (which was not determined during biopsy). I have had God’s peace from the very beginning…… the peace that only our Heavenly Father can give us. My brother, Rob, will come the first week of my surgery and visit with mother while I cannot. I will not be able to go back to work or drive for 3 weeks. Also please pray for my mother to have good health and spirits for the next three weeks during my recovery.
