Comments: I always remember egging her parents house. There were 4 of us and we were out of Larry Weygandt's dads car when Miss Bryant came out on the front porch. I'll never forget that "Come on Gibbs, she's on the front porch". Monday during class she just smiled. I knew that she knew but I never got any repercussions from that night of mischief.
Comments: I saw this today. Miss Bryant passed away a year ago. Smart woman who led an amazing life. https://obits.dallasnews.com/us/obituaries/dallasmorningnews/name/june-bryant-obituary?id=52689389
Comments: That’s Memoriam page. 🙏🏻
Comments: Hello all, I hope this finds all who visit here well and happy🙏🏻❣️ I haven’t been here for a while and I am sad to see more names on our SOC memorandum page. All is well on this end other than a hip replacement last February. I see some of you on FB occasionally. I got back on about 6 months ago. However, with the election coming up, I may get off again. … can’t stand the politics. Take care Golden Bears.
Comments: Correction on address for Lawrence Jackson’s celebration I typed the wrong number 902 E. 16th Street Plano, TX Details below
Comments: Joan and I have been in Port O'Connor for three weeks. First week, the wind blew constantly with rain. The strong east wind caused the water to rise 2-3' so lots of flooding. The ramp we normally use was flooded and the place we buy bait was flooded. Then the wind died and the mosquitoes have been the worst I have seen. Maybe I just forget how bad they can be! And the coastal heat and humidity. We are headed back to Southlake tomorrow-doctor appt on Tuesday. Sad to hear of all the SOC grads that have passed. Peaches, keep up the good work.
Comments: Lawrence Jackson’s Celebration of Life will be Sunday, July 21 from 1:00 pm till 4:00 pm at The Arts Center of Plano 902 E. 26th Street Plano, Tx Lawrence was our graphic arts classmate who designed our Bears over the years for our directories and posters at each Reunion and birthday parties. We were so fortunate to have him and his creativeness! If you plan on coming, please let me know.
Comments: Ron Jarmon informed me Jimmy Kidd passed on May 27,2024 in Bristol, TN. He is not listed in our 1963 nor 1963 Den. However, he is listed in our sophomore student directory and Den. Some of you may remember him

Comments: Charles Richey services are tomorrow. At Jaynes funeral home in Duncanville The visitation starts at 11:00 a.m. 12:00 the services. Then after the services will drive to Laurel Land for his burial...
Comments: Back at SOC I always assumed Joan Diffee and her brother David Diffee were "twins". David died at age 55 in 2000. Now comparing their obituaries, I learn that David was born in January of 1945 while Joan didn't come along til November 1945. Non-mystery solved.

I will call his number and hopefully Cynthia will answer. If I find out when the memorial is I will post here. Lawrence was our graphic artist who drew our SOC bear for reunions from our 20th till our 50th. He will definitely be missed!

Comments: we were saddened that the SOC 62 site has been taken down. The only one for them is on FB in groups section. We try to check the sites for classmates and keep up with what is going on in other classes. Sadly, it seems we are losing more friends from our past days at SOC. We hope you guys keep your site going, it’s getting a little harder to keep up for us. We miss reading new commentation and praying all is well in your class. God bless.
Comments: Yeah Bill, I was thinking the same thing. Everyone is busy or NOTHING is going on; hope it is the latter. Have a great hot day everyone.
Comments: HI! Not much action around here lately.
Comments: So sorry to hear of all our recent losses. I danced with Marty one time and it was great. Lynell, I have to ask you if your neighbor has decided to leave the skeleton up year round? I have gone by your house a few times since Halloween and am amazed when I see it. It's probably a lot of trouble to set up and take down because of its size. To my roomie, I got the disc but haven't been able to view it because the player is not hooked up. I'll have to get my nephew over to connect the player because it is almost on the floor and if I got down that far, I would not be able to get back up! Miss all of you.
Comments: Charlotte, was doing the same thing today. Its also hard to believe its been 61 years
Comments: I was just looking at our memorandum list. Sadly, We’ve lost so many.
Comments: I really enjoyed Marty Smith. What a great guy. I am also sorry to hear about Gary Loden. We were at Cedar Crest Baptist Church together. He called me about 5 years ago and we revisited about our families. His mother was my Bible class teacher. SOC had some great people and I have wonderful memories of so many. God speed to all.
Comments: We enjoyed knowing Marty during one of the SOC cruises. What a remarkable guy, great dancer. He was also the brother of the late Sammy Smith, class of 66 cheerleader too. Both great people. I would also like to mention that the class of 64 lost a great guy as well today, Gary Loden. Praying for their families in the loss of these great men.
Comments: Marty was a great guy, always smiling and upbeat! He even went on a couple of our BBQ events in the Big Apple a few years ago, and made jalapeño Cole slaw! prayers for family and friends
Comments: Prayer said for Marty's family as the grieve his loss.
Comments: Lisbon, Zumwalt, SOC - My memory of Marty is that he was always smiling. Good guy.
Comments: John, I saw the report about Marty’s death on Facebook when one of his fellow dancers reported the sad news. I remember Marty well from Lisbon. Always a friend.
Comments: On Facebook today, is a comment from Michael Smith sharing the news of the recent death of this father ... our Marty Smith. Many of us first met Marty at Zumwalt and of course remember him as the "Bear" mascot at SOC. He was such a likeable guy. |
