I too wondered what all the talk about Honey Boo Boo was so I tuned in to her show...this child does the children's beauty pageants...her family is like the people from the movie Deliverance if you saw it...5 husbands..5 kids..Boo Boo has a pet pig she sleeps with..all loud and crude...but have to admit I found myself laughing because I couldn't believe what I was seeing...but I have always had a strange sense of humor..not sure what tv is coming to with boo boo..alligator lovers..duck dynasty..funeral parties..bearded wonders and the list goes on.

I just read about the latest reality TV show, "Best Funeral Ever".  And, it takes place right here in Dallas, TX at the Golden Gate Funeral Home.  The man who sings or sang Chili's Baby Back Ribs jingle died last week and they went with a barbecue themed funeral!  The pall bearers wore chef's aprons and the casket looked like a smoker.  From Honey Boo Boo to theme funerals, what's next?

PS - Only watched the game last night until half-time.  Rooted for Bama, but couldn't believe how inept they made ND look.

What a good story! My jaded background in insurance fraud makes me wonder if there could be a second back-story. Say someone threw the ring in the pond, knowing it was covered and a nice check from the insurance carrier was sure to follow, then they could always fish the ring out of the water at a future date.  The problem is that insurance companies can be pretty smart about that sort of thing. I'm glad they found the ring, and hope the finder got a nice reward -- or at least his lunch bought.

Metal detecting Treasure Hunt in Conroe, Texas!

Yesterday my buddy Wayne confirmed that our mutual friend Jason had borrowed a long-handled scoop to use in a search for a "lost" 18K white gold, double-band diamond wedding ring.

The back story is that on New Year's Eve a Conroe couple got in an argument and tossed the ring back and forth between them. In exasperation the husband threw the ring in the pond next to their home! Not a great gesture to kick off one's new year.

A few days went by as they cooled off and desperately sought out the online "Lost My Stuff Group" for assistance. Jason saw the notice of the lost ring and volunteered to go in the water once the weather warmed up a bit. He (Jason) has a water-proof metal detector, plus he has the verified talent to use it, having found 27 rings in the past year (I know this 'cause he's in my metal detecting club).

Here is a link (with pics) to the report of the conclusion of the successful hunt on a chilly Jan. 6 (omitting the details of how the ring was lost):

Back to work today, yuck.  Spent 30 minutes opening mail and 30 minutes going through e-mails.  Can't wait to leave!  We had our black-eyed peas with dinner yesterday, so here's hoping that this year will be filled with good luck.  Watched enough football for the lasts four days that I hate to admit, I'm kind of burned out.  But also read three good books and started a fourth.  Hope everyone enjoyed the holidays and are looking forward to the new year.

Mike, I'm wondering if the term "reprints" simply means that someone sits down and photocopies the entire old yearbook? That might explain the high price ($89.99).

Mr. Southworth:  I noticed the eBay ads for Yearbook copies and thought it was somewhat 'strange' that such would be available.  I didn't feel strange enough to purchase one though.

The announcer said Larry is amazing, and that's an understatement. He still sounds like the fellow we went to SOC with. Happy Birthday, Larry Macon. I'll celebrate your big day for you.

Every now and then I check in on eBay to see if there is any new historical items for sale from Oak Cliff. Today I noticed someone is selling "reprints" of the SOC Den from a number of different years from 1956 to 1988 (and even one from 1932?).

To check it out, go to eBay and enter "South Oak Cliff" in the search box. Shipping is free but they are priced at $89.99.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to everyone.

We spent a wonderful morning at our little country church and had a little Christmas program with the children leading us in carols.  Then we had a cookie swap and coffee and cocoa after the service.  We had around thirty for services.

Hughie and I celebrated our 45th wedding anniversary today!  My daughter called and said that is a long time to be with one person. and how did I do it?  Her Dad was listening on the other phone, so I told her "one day at a time"!  We have some good times and bad times, but I just can't seem to recall many of the bad ones.

We hope your Christmas time and New Year is filled with great memories and our prayers go out to all of you that The Lord will bless and keep you in His Care.

Love, Donna Gwin Libhart and family

Some people won't go back until Thursday.. Just had my Tn Driver's License changed to Tx Driver's License.. Possibly the 'ugliest' picture I've ever had made. They're not going back until Thursday..!
This site is getting as dead as Adamson 63's site..!
I have a 'flash' for JS.. MMM's mom called me.. I found out 'where' she is so I could send her a card. She called me before she got the card. I told her I was having trouble keeping up with all Mike's wives.. She said they had the same problem..! Well, have a peaceful weekend and holiday. I'll check in again, to see if anybody actually posts anything else.. Above all, do have a Peaceful Holiday.. Please, please keep the firearms...at a minimum.. all you 'wannabe cowboys'.  Namaste..all.
