Wonderful memorial...thank you for posting.

We have lost so many wonderful young people.

On my way back to the city tonight, I noticed so many flags at half mast....our country is in mourning.

If I can add an editorial comment here, Bob Averitte, husband of Dorothy Shamblin Averitte has just sent me a link to info about Billy Averitte's tribute on the Vietnam Wall.  I put a link to it on the Memoriam page. We owe so much to Billy and all other service personnel. My gosh, Billy was such a fine young man.

Many thanks, Bob and Dorothy, for sending this.

Vick Haak was at that same Alumni 'function'. You know he still looks like Vick Haak..just a little older.
If I talk to MMM in person, I'm going to 'make a point' to tell him about JS feeling snubbed..years back.. I'm going to tell him to go up and give JS 'A BIG HUG..!
(One time, I saw him perform at Opryland in Nashville. I went up to his security and asked if I could see Mike. They said 'No'..Now, what if I'd gotten my feelings hurt over that..?) Work through it JS...
***I remember the Katie Knight 'thing'..That was before his infatuation with me. I remember seeing Mike walking Katie up the stairs.. I think I was briefly resentful.
I remember playing 'Spin the Bottle'..at Vick's house in the 7th Grade.. It seems like Vick was busy 'smooching' with somebody on the couch..

Ginger:  Yes, I had several classes at Storey with MMM, a lot of us did.  The one I remember most was Mr. Strickland's biology class.  Mike would sit at the table beside me and ask my opinion on who he should ask for a date.  He really was shy back then.  He had a huge crush on Katie Knight, but I think all the guys did!  I thought someone, maybe from the class of '64 or '65 was working on a Boude Storey reunion, but I haven't heard anything about it in over a year.  By the way, Mr. Strickland is still alive.  I'm not sure if he and his wife live in Weatherford or Granbury, but my older sister (retired teacher) made their acquaintance a couple of years ago and was stunned to find out I had been in his class.  Small world, people.

There's an article about the tremendous "angst" he's experiencing over the "50th reunion dilemma" in last month's issue of "Who Cares?" magazine.

Sharon, He attended 'something' a year ago.. I think it had to do with an Adamson Alumni Association..thing, at Adamson.. If you go to their site and look under events/past events etc. There were pictures of him at that event. Sandra Fant attended that, too. MMM 'messaged' me on FB..which I was surprised, he finally did..? Our families have crossed paths for several generations and I had asked about Mark and their mother, Lois, who I had worked with years ago in VBS at Hillcrest BC.. We go back 'further' than that, however..and then his son Brendan and my daughter, Juli, went to the Montessori Center in Nashville, when they were about 4.. He was in town, with his 3rd wife, who I had met at another concert and taping in Nashville. They were actually renting a house in Nashville while Mike worked on a video for Continental Trailways... Long time ago.. He finally got through to me. Previously, his wife, Karen, had messaged me on FB..
No, he probably hasn't been to one, up until now.. I think he's thinking about it, however. If you remember him from Boude Storey, he was shy around most people. He was so smart, ran around with Tommy McGown and others. You may have been in one or more of those accelerated classes with him. After the 7th Grade, they took me out of all the ACC. classes because of math. LOL... for some reason, I think you were in those classes...?  I think he's seriously considering, taking part in a reunion, now..?? We'll know by next year..

I put it to...Ron, about MMM at the Reunion.. They have this 'stalwart'..person like Peaches and her committee. She has done an outstanding job of keeping this going. I haven't attended very many because I've been in Tn..for so long, but I'm aware of what a good job she does.
The Adamson group has not had a person like Peaches.. Ron has started the ball rolling. They batted back and forth dates, for Oct. 2013, I noticed on their site. They came up with Oct. 4,5, 2013. They also have had several to volunteer to be on that committee.
I sent that 'info' to MMM's assistant and also emailed Ron.. We could all go if, MMM shows up to sing..at their 'Reunion'..I guess.. Who knows..? That's between those guys, and MMM.  I've finally found MMM's mom, so I've got to buy a Christmas card..since I send e-cards to most people.. Don't send that many cards...through snail mail..anymore.

We need to ask Ron, the web master of the Adamson site, if MMM is coming to their 50th.  Wonder if he will.

Has everyone finished Christmas shopping?  The traffic around here is getting reeeeelly wild and crowded.  I'm glad I am finished, but I do have to drive around some and it is waaaay intense.

MMM...was at Bass Concert Hall in Ft Worth...last night..Dec.10. I saw him in the 90's at Bass Concert Hall/UT..Austin. It's his Cowboy Christmas...'thingy'. I finally got a message from MMM. on FB.. I could only reach his 4th wife, Karen, previously.. I had wondered 'where' his brother, Mark was..and Mike's mother, Lois Murphey.. I asked on OCB..about them and finally a cousin of Mike and Mark...answered me and 'must' have gotten the message through. It was nice to hear from the real 'Mike'..as we called him from Boude Storey..and earlier.. I would like to have gone.. and MMM mentioned it..but I'm without a car, the cheapest 'tickets'...were too much for me and it was in downtown Ft Worth.. I can maneuver around Dallas, easier than Ft Worth..!
Anyway, Mark Murphey is in Oregon, and has been doing Shakespeare for years. He was always into drama. Lois Murphey is up there in an assisted living home, in her 90's but still hanging on.
His 'Cowboy Christmas' is very good. Everyone would like it. He mentioned staying for the 'meet and greet' afterwards. I wrote back, that myself and a teacher-friend...tried that at UT...We waited and we waited and he never showed up..so we left.. I've seen him afterwards..at other concerts..in the past.
Has anyone got an old car, that runs, and they would sell...cheap..? Ginger

For all of you Boude Storey SOCITES ......especially John S.....
Michael Martin Murphey was inducted into the Traditional Country Music Hall Of Fame last August. In recent years MMM has concentrated more on traditional cowboy songs and bluegrass.

Donna, thank you for the update. I'm so happy things are turning out okay. My neighbor had adrenal gland issues about 30 years ago, but she got fixed up and is fine today.

We'll hope to see you at a SOC event in 2013!

Dear Peaches, Lynell, and all,
Just a note to let you know the results of my tests were inconclusive and there were no changes in the growths on my adrenal glands.  So, he wants to see me again in six months, with another CT scan and blood work.  I am elated in that respect, but I still have questions about some back and hip pain.  The Doctor said I should consult a neurologist or back pain specialist.  I have fallen in the past and there could be some nerve damage in that area.
Thank you for your prayers and good thoughts.  I am glad you had such a good time at the luncheon.  I do hope I can make it to the next one!
Love,

Donna Gwin Libhart

Sharon, do you EVER change?????  You look so fab...well, everyone does, but you...WHOA!!!!  You have looked the same for 50 years...how do you do it???

Brenda, I am so sorry...hope you heal quickly.  Mother nature has over compensated for that drought!  She is making sure that the critters can't eat ALL her seeds and some will rejuvenate our landscape.  We have a bumper crop of pecans at our ranch this year too.

Brenda, please be careful.  I almost fell the other day because of the acorns on my sidewalk.  We have lived in our home for 25 years and I do believe the acorn crop this year is the largest one ever.  Thanks to all the hosts and hostesses for yesterday.  It was so much fun but it always is.

Haaa, Brenda, no, I certainly wasn't, but I'm glad to hear that your sense of humor wasn't rattled by your fall!

Last time I gave myself a black eye, I stooped over in a dark closet to get something off a low shelf and jammed my nose into an upright vacuum cleaner metal hose attachment. Boy, did I see stars as I cut the bridge of my nose and blackened both eyes. What a dopey thing for me to do. Now I turn on the light!
