Comments: Oh, good grief....John..!
Comments: There's an article about the tremendous "angst" he's experiencing over the "50th reunion dilemma" in last month's issue of "Who Cares?" magazine.
Comments: Sharon, He attended 'something' a year ago.. I think it had to do with an Adamson Alumni Association..thing, at Adamson.. If you go to their site and look under events/past events etc. There were pictures of him at that event. Sandra Fant attended that, too. MMM 'messaged' me on FB..which I was surprised, he finally did..? Our families have crossed paths for several generations and I had asked about Mark and their mother, Lois, who I had worked with years ago in VBS at Hillcrest BC.. We go back 'further' than that, however..and then his son Brendan and my daughter, Juli, went to the Montessori Center in Nashville, when they were about 4.. He was in town, with his 3rd wife, who I had met at another concert and taping in Nashville. They were actually renting a house in Nashville while Mike worked on a video for Continental Trailways... Long time ago.. He finally got through to me. Previously, his wife, Karen, had messaged me on FB.. No, he probably hasn't been to one, up until now.. I think he's thinking about it, however. If you remember him from Boude Storey, he was shy around most people. He was so smart, ran around with Tommy McGown and others. You may have been in one or more of those accelerated classes with him. After the 7th Grade, they took me out of all the ACC. classes because of math. LOL... for some reason, I think you were in those classes...? I think he's seriously considering, taking part in a reunion, now..?? We'll know by next year..
Comments: Ginger: I don't believe MMM has attended any of Adamson's reunions!
Comments: I forgot the 'don't in the 'stalwart' person...sentence. Oh well, I always edit after the fact...(sigh)
Comments: I put it to...Ron, about MMM at the Reunion.. They have this 'stalwart'..person like Peaches and her committee. She has done an outstanding job of keeping this going. I haven't attended very many because I've been in Tn..for so long, but I'm aware of what a good job she does. The Adamson group has not had a person like Peaches.. Ron has started the ball rolling. They batted back and forth dates, for Oct. 2013, I noticed on their site. They came up with Oct. 4,5, 2013. They also have had several to volunteer to be on that committee. I sent that 'info' to MMM's assistant and also emailed Ron.. We could all go if, MMM shows up to sing..at their 'Reunion'..I guess.. Who knows..? That's between those guys, and MMM. I've finally found MMM's mom, so I've got to buy a Christmas card..since I send e-cards to most people.. Don't send that many cards...through snail mail..anymore.
Comments: We need to ask Ron, the web master of the Adamson site, if MMM is coming to their 50th. Wonder if he will. Has everyone finished Christmas shopping? The traffic around here is getting reeeeelly wild and crowded. I'm glad I am finished, but I do have to drive around some and it is waaaay intense.
Comments: So happy to hear that the Adamson celebrity is still hanging in there.
Comments: Oh, John.... would you like me to 'message Mike'...again, and mention you..?
Comments: MMM...was at Bass Concert Hall in Ft Worth...last night..Dec.10. I saw him in the 90's at Bass Concert Hall/UT..Austin. It's his Cowboy Christmas...'thingy'. I finally got a message from MMM. on FB.. I could only reach his 4th wife, Karen, previously.. I had wondered 'where' his brother, Mark was..and Mike's mother, Lois Murphey.. I asked on OCB..about them and finally a cousin of Mike and Mark...answered me and 'must' have gotten the message through. It was nice to hear from the real 'Mike'..as we called him from Boude Storey..and earlier.. I would like to have gone.. and MMM mentioned it..but I'm without a car, the cheapest 'tickets'...were too much for me and it was in downtown Ft Worth.. I can maneuver around Dallas, easier than Ft Worth..! Anyway, Mark Murphey is in Oregon, and has been doing Shakespeare for years. He was always into drama. Lois Murphey is up there in an assisted living home, in her 90's but still hanging on. His 'Cowboy Christmas' is very good. Everyone would like it. He mentioned staying for the 'meet and greet' afterwards. I wrote back, that myself and a teacher-friend...tried that at UT...We waited and we waited and he never showed up..so we left.. I've seen him afterwards..at other concerts..in the past. Has anyone got an old car, that runs, and they would sell...cheap..? Ginger
Comments: John, how fast will that Miata go?
Comments: I believe MMM has a concert tonight -- or maybe tomorrow night -- at Bass Hall in Fort Worth.
Comments: Speaking of JS, where is he? Haven't heard nary a word for some time.
Comments: For all of you Boude Storey SOCITES ......especially John S..... Michael Martin Murphey was inducted into the Traditional Country Music Hall Of Fame last August. In recent years MMM has concentrated more on traditional cowboy songs and bluegrass.
Comments: Donna, thank you for the update. I'm so happy things are turning out okay. My neighbor had adrenal gland issues about 30 years ago, but she got fixed up and is fine today. We'll hope to see you at a SOC event in 2013!
Comments: Dear Peaches, Lynell, and all, Just a note to let you know the results of my tests were inconclusive and there were no changes in the growths on my adrenal glands. So, he wants to see me again in six months, with another CT scan and blood work. I am elated in that respect, but I still have questions about some back and hip pain. The Doctor said I should consult a neurologist or back pain specialist. I have fallen in the past and there could be some nerve damage in that area. Thank you for your prayers and good thoughts. I am glad you had such a good time at the luncheon. I do hope I can make it to the next one! Love, Donna Gwin Libhart
Comments: Ladies, you are too kind, but it brightened up my day! After Peaches get together, I'm really beginning to look forward to our 50th Reunion.
Comments: Charlotte, I can answer that. Nope, Sharon never changes.
Comments: Sharon, do you EVER change????? You look so fab...well, everyone does, but you...WHOA!!!! You have looked the same for 50 years...how do you do it??? Brenda, I am so sorry...hope you heal quickly. Mother nature has over compensated for that drought! She is making sure that the critters can't eat ALL her seeds and some will rejuvenate our landscape. We have a bumper crop of pecans at our ranch this year too.
Comments: Thank you Peaches and hostess. Wonderful food and wonderful people. Brenda be safe and take care of yourself.
Comments: Brenda, please be careful. I almost fell the other day because of the acorns on my sidewalk. We have lived in our home for 25 years and I do believe the acorn crop this year is the largest one ever. Thanks to all the hosts and hostesses for yesterday. It was so much fun but it always is.
Comments: Just kidding with you Lynell...just got back from my Doctor and seems I have a mild concussion and torn ligaments in my knee.. whip lash..and a broken nose...other than that I am just Jim dandy....all will be back to normal in a few weeks.. the word normal to be debated I am sure. The pictures are so good..Peaches and co hosts did a great job.
Comments: Haaa, Brenda, no, I certainly wasn't, but I'm glad to hear that your sense of humor wasn't rattled by your fall! Last time I gave myself a black eye, I stooped over in a dark closet to get something off a low shelf and jammed my nose into an upright vacuum cleaner metal hose attachment. Boy, did I see stars as I cut the bridge of my nose and blackened both eyes. What a dopey thing for me to do. Now I turn on the light!
Comments: Peaches, your decorations are beautiful! Looks like a great time was had by all according to all the smiles. Thank you for posting photos Lynell.
Comments: Lynell....are you calling me a blind pig!!!!
Comments: Nice work Lynell. Sometimes perseverance is quicker than "tech help"! And better!C'mon, doesn't anyone have Jean or James Anthony's correct em add? I sure need to get in touch with them. Thanks!
Comments: Amazingly, I just fixed that link, so it's now available on the Images page. Need to let Network Solutions know to call off the experts. Even a blind pig finds an acorn now and then.
Comments: Oh, Brenda! OUCH! Get well soon.
Comments: Thank you so much, Peaches and all the hard-working hostesses/hosts for the great Christmas party. Cynthia and Martha sent me their pictures, and I added a few of my own. However, I can't get the link to work, and neither could the tech at Network Solutions. They're escalating the "issue" (love that term for making me yank my hair out!) and the button should work in a day or two. Meanwhile, go here to see the pictures on Smugmug: http://lynell.smugmug.com/Groups/December-2012-Luncheon/26868057_fHR7Cp#!i=2251199631&k=38HpfHH
Comments: So sorry to miss the Christmas party today. I had a pretty bad fall a few days ago when I was walking to my car and stepped on some acorns that rolled under my feet and went down face first to the concrete...broke my nose..chipped my front tooth..skinned up my hands and knees...was a pretty site!! With my broken nose of course I have black eyes so felt I need to stay in so I won't scare everyone!!! I laugh about it now but it was scary at the time. Miss you all and hope to make the next event |
