Prayer said for David's family. May he rest in peace.

I guess at our age we should be conditioned to the realities of life and also to the realities of death. But it still troubles me when an old friend like David passes. And it never gets easier does it?

James Randall Parrish, born August 10, 1945, in Dallas, Texas, passed away on April 8, 2026.

James was raised in Dallas and graduated from South Oak Cliff High School in 1963. A true patriot, he served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam era, and then went on to continue his education at University of Texas Dallas. His commitment to service didn’t end after the Navy—he continued dedicating his life to this country through a 27-year career with the United States State Department. That work took him all over the world, but no matter where he went, he carried his values, his work ethic, and his love for his country with him. He retired with high honors and the respect of those he served alongside.

His senior pic was not in the Den, but his pic was in the 64 Den, When he was a Jr.  His current picture is shown on the Laurel Land Funeral home in Dallas.

This is a huge Thank You to everyone who turned out this morning for Brandon's memorial service.
There were several SOCites there, along with family from both sides of his family, along with quite a few college friends of his and Katie, a lot of folks from our church, a group from the Patriot Guard Riders and the Texas Fishing Forum, friends of mine and Donna. One of his college buddies drove down from Minnesota because he was afraid the airline might not get him here in time.
Donna and I were overwhelmed! We've never seen so many people in our church before. It was standing room only!
God Bless You All!!

My son Brandon was in a serious car wreck last week. The airbag failed to deploy and his face hit the steering wheel and the dash. Left jaw was broken and his mouth is all messed up. In addition, he had an abscess pop up on his brain requiring brain surgery to clear that up. He seemed to be doing well until this morning,
He suddenly became totally non-responsive - eyes open b and gasping for air but no response at all to shaking him or talking to him. They had the rapid response team work on him for about 30 minutes in his room and got him intubated. He was then sedated to keep him calm for the rest of the day. CT scans showed swelling of the brain. And now his eyes are dilated and non-responsive. More scans to try to find the cause for the problem, but it's not looking too good at all.
Please pray for Brandon, his wife Katie, and our grandkids Elizabeth and William. Plus, for me and Donna and the medical team attending to him.
I know there are some fierce prayer warriors in this group and when I've asked in the past I felt God's touch.

I remember Donnie Lawson and Albert Lawson from the days in Hillcrest Baptist Church. I never would have imagined that I would soon be 80 years old and in good shape. Reminded of a night when Roger Davis and I raced thru the streets around Davis Ave in a corvette as speed was our goal.

Our class of 1965 lost two young men as well this week, Donnie Lawson and Steve Tenpenny.  Prayers are for those left behind who will miss their loved ones at this time.  Still feels like yesterday we were all laughing at each other from our past reunions, and looking around the room, the crowd gets a little smaller each day.  God Bless our high school friends.

Sadly another name has been added to our list of SOC ‘63 Angels.

Kevin Zablosky has posted this on Facebook: "Tracy and myself wanted to share that our father Olin Wayne Zablosky passed away peacefully Monday evening February 23rd.
He was surrounded in love and care and we are so grateful to everyone who visited, reached out, or supported him in any way. He was truly blessed to have the friends, SOC classmates, co workers, and family that he had. He reminded me all the time these past few weeks of that when I visited or talked to him. So thank y’all again. He will be deeply missed. We will be hosting a celebration of his life at Z Floor offices ( 350 Betchan Ave) in Lake Dallas on Friday March 27th at Noon. We will have plenty of food, good stories, and 50s sock hop music playing in the background. Hope to see y’all there."

We said goodbye to Sharon Reeves yesterday. At her graveside service were quite a few family and friends and a few folks from the SOC Class of '63 (Me and Donna, Pat Vessels, Peaches and Gary Deatherage.)
Lots of Sharon stories and tales were told. As most of us know she was always laughing and telling tales about herself, even until the final few days. She was what my mom and grandmother would have called "a Hoot"!)
Sharon, you will be missed by many!
