Comments: John, it was great to get to hang with you and Dru at the luncheon. Tell Dru women throughout the world are upset that Bobby is off the market in case they suddenly find themselves "out there" -- Russians, Chinese, Aussies, Okies. However, he's happily married to a beautiful, warm, lovely woman who's a young SOCite. May they have many years of wedded bliss. Everyone is happy for these splendid people. Can't thank you two enough for making the five thousand mile drive in the yucky weather. So, did you stick El Felix under your shirt?
Comments: Dru and I had a great time at El Fenix, but two hours just zips by so quickly. There were many there whom we didn't get to visit with and I apologize to those I missed. I almost complained about the wet weather and then recalled that a week earlier the place would have been covered with snow. So the rain wasn't all that bad after all. The weather did thwart my plan to metal detect nearby Coffee Park and search for the famous "Greer Garson" geocache. Bill Akins had a wonderful story to tell of his personal encounters with Greer years back. Also, it was good to see new faces like that of fellow ROTC-er Johnny Brown. I looked around for familiar faces from the Class of 1962. "There's Bobby Moffett", I said to Dru. She made a sour face and replied "I'm still mad at him ... for getting married". Cracked me up.
Comments: Great pics and video! Dang it, I need to hitch up the wagon and head north for one of these luncheons!
Comments: Well it was an ugly day outside but beautiful people showed up for the luncheon. It was a wonderful event. I think John and Dru deserve the EL Fenix statue for driving the furtherest. So nice to see everyone. Thank you for sharing the photos - they are great as always and Thank you to Mary Kay and Peaches for starting off 2011 luncheons. A few of us from the Best Southwest Cities in the south talked briefly about one of the events out our way - more to come at a later time and date.
Comments: Bill, I'm not talking. That's a pretty cool piece of art.
Comments: Great luncheon! Lynell, that little statue of El Felix didn't end up under your coat did it?
Comments: Martha, I could use some names on a few, too. That's why none are named (other than the manager, Alex who's an awfully nice man that we know, and the statue of El Felix. I know most everybody there, but have learned not to name any on here if I can't name 'em all. It was nice to see some faces, like Johnny Brown, who haven't been to many of these. They're always fun.
Comments: Thanks Lynell. Great photos of a good looking bunch of SOCites. I could use names for a few. Wish I could have joined you.
Comments: Lynell: Thanks for the pictures. I really enjoyed lunch, and visiting with all my SOC friends. I'm sorry it took me 23 years to attend a class function, but I look forward to attending many-many more. I hope everyone returned to their homes okay. I know John S and wife had to drive back to the Houston area. Johnny
Comments: Okay, I posted the pictures that I took at the luncheon today on the Images page here. Just click the top button to get to the photos. Maybe Lonnie and Cynthia will send me theirs (and anybody else who took pictures.) I know I missed a few people, so I hope they got them. Lillian Scoma, for instance. And my husband, of all people to miss.
Comments: What a luncheon! There was a nice turnout despite the icky weather. It's never too cold and drizzly for enchiladas! Pictures coming later.
Comments: I take it he was not declared a Saint as the last Pope is about to be. ahem!
Comments: On further examination, there was a Felix II who served as Pope for a short time before being run out of town. He was later referred to as Antipope Felix II.
Comments: Don't forget Felix Ungar. I'm sure he didn't eat cats. But I wouldn't have put it past his roomie, Oscar Madison.
Comments: Felix I, III and IV were saints back in the 3rd, 5th and 6th centuries. No mention of Felix II. I don't think any of them ate cats.
Comments: We'll have a choice of enchiladas: cheese, beef, chicken or CAT! Maybe we should make a last minute change to Burger King.
Comments: That settles it. I'm officially changing the name of our house from Smith Manor to El Felix.
Comments: Felix the Cat is a restaurant?
Comments: No, I think it's La Cucaracha.
Comments: I think both Jack & JS are wrong! The restaurant is El Fenix not El Felix!
Comments: John, I think you are thinking of El Felix.
Comments: John, of course there's room for your metal detecting equipment. Let Dru drive, and you sit with your legs scrunched up in the passenger seat. There's sure to be treasure in Big D. David and I are looking forward to seeing you two. Please bring warm weather.
Comments: FYI - Dru and I are planning to be in Dallas for the Saturday "event". It's been 30+ years since I ate at El Felix. Isn't that Spanish for "the cat"? Trying to decide if there's room for my metal detector and geocaching equipment?
Comments: Jud, probably!! haaaaaaaa!! But, me too! Ditto on the Cat Woman comment!
Comments: Catwoman, you'll always be special to us! This year is off to a rousing start, both personally and professionally. I'm sure I'm doing better than I deserve.
Comments: Drat! I meant to post here on 1-11-11 at 1:11 p.m. Darn that Spider Solitaire. I got distracted.
Comments: Thank you, Charlotte. Well, b-day's over. I'm back to being not special again. How's everybody's year going so far?
Comments: Happy, Happy Birthday Dear Web Mistress, Lynell. Thank you for keeping us in touch with one another!
Comments: Wow, you guys have made this a very happy birthday indeed! Thank you so much for all the good wishes. I love and appreciate all of you. It's good to be Sweet 16 plus fifty! ![]()
Comments: Please forgive me for misspelling your name, Lynell; my senior moments are starting to stretch out into senior hours. My bad. |
