Comments: Peaches, Thank You for the wonderful party!! It was great to see so many friends I haven't seen in a while. The food was very good & as always, your home was gorgeous!! And Thank You to each of the other committee members who helped bring the food & did the clean-up. All of you are appreciated & it was a great party!!
Comments: Thanks to Cynthia, we now have pictures from yesterday's Christmas luncheon on the Images page. If you weren't there, you were missed! Many thank yous, Cynthia. Great pictures!
Comments: Well Lynell hit all the highlights. What a great day with great folks. Thank you to all the people that brought the wonderful food - boy spinach salads this week! It was a great afternoon in lovely surrounds - thank you again to Peaches for opening her house for this event every year. Mary Kay - praying for you to get better and fully restored strength and health. We missed you. It feels a little like Christmas - Merry Christmas all and to all a good night.
Comments: Did I mention that the food and beverages were all outstanding? A big note of gratitude to all who helped make this possible.
Comments: Peaches and the Hostesses/Host put on the best-ever Christmas party today. Seeing old, dear friends is the greatest present! I was not fast enough to snag one of Joanne Lachnitt's chocolate treats, but I heard yummy sounds from those who did. Everyone who brought food and helped put on this great shindig, THANK YOU!! Peaches' house looks beautiful. It needs to be in a design magazine in a story called How It's Done!
Comments: 60 have rsvp for the SOC Annual Christmas luncheon tomorrow. We have been doing these since 2004. We will have a few new faces. Christmas music is on, started to prepare salads, will be setting up tables in the garage with heaters to keep us semi warm, Christmas plates out, house decorated. We have such SPECIAL friendships. Come prepared for lots of fellowship, LAUGHTER, walking down MEMORY LANE, good food and creating new memories. I love this time of the year.....but let us remember the Real Reason for the Season is Jesus Christ. Happy Birthday Jesus!
Comments: Jud came back with that fashion description so quickly, one might think that vision was already in his head.
Comments: What was that poor fashion-challenged young lady thinking? Daisy Dukes simply scream for a red bra and thigh high stilettos!
Comments: I am blown back in my chair by the fact that Geo J found that disturbing liberry book. Any book like that that I ever saw either contained a flask, a pearl-handled small revolver, or money. You go, Geo-J! For the second time in 24 hours, I was blown back when I watched a TV show last night about female Dallas Police Department officers. The officer busted a 19-year-old strolling along Marsalis in Daisy Dukes and a black brassiere. (I know I'm the only one who calls them that.) The young lady's mama approached and sided with the cop. The officer asked where they lived. "Up by the second Frio," the mother responded. That mayl be the house I grew up in. My mother, BTW, would have done more than side with the police had I been that stoopid. She would have rightfully beheaded me on the spot. P.S. A black bra?? Daisy Dukes??? I think NOT. At least our alma mater was shown on TV. We are so lucky we grew up when we did.
Comments: Well, sorry to report that Dru and I won't be in Dallas for the party Sunday. She is wrapped up in an arts & crafts show in Huntsville. I continue to search for the elusive geocaches ... from the teeny to the absurd. My pal Rudolph has been helping me lately and he has a "nose" for the chase. We found this one near the local Chic-Filet restaurant: http://people.consolidated.net/swsw/chick2.jpg And this one took us 4 attempts at Ridgewood Park: http://people.consolidated.net/swsw/ridgewood1.jpg The most unusual cache was this one hidden 260 ft. back in the woods south of The Woodlands: http://people.consolidated.net/swsw/pig3.jpg While the most recent find was this one hidden in the Geography section of the Conroe Library. Rudy and I were the first ones to discover it!: http://people.consolidated.net/swsw/moco_lib_1.jpg
Comments: Thanks, Michael. Can't wait to try this. We're going to a friend's house for Christmas dinner, and this will be my contribution.
Comments: Lynel, I just read my post and I forgot to say the cool whip topping is to be mixed in with the puree, spice and pudding mix to form the mousse like consistency.
Comments: Michael, your Pumpkin Surprise sounds great! El Centro has a wonderful chef training program. I made a boatload of your great dressing recipe. We just polished off the last of the turkey-and-dressing sammiches. I hope you and Monica rally soon!
Comments: Lynel, sorry to hear about David, and right at Hannahkuh at that. Monica and I are not through coughing sniffling and wheezing but we are coming out of it ever so slowly...sniffle...sniffle...well the truth is at my age wheezing is expected. I have a new recipe to share, straight from the culinary class at El Centro...it is a really really good and simple pumpkin mousse. chill one 15 oz can of pumpkin puree (not the pumpkin pie mix) one teaspoon pumpkin pie spice one 3 1/2 oz pkg of instant vanilla pudding mix (just the mix) Mix these throughly and then add 3 to 5 cups of cool whip cream topping depending on taste. It is sooo easy and absolutely delishhhhuuus and I don't really care for pumpkin pie but this is outrageous.
Comments: They are both such world travelers, live in Houston and avid tennis players....it is easy to get confused when thinking about them. Thanks Bill, I need someone to watch out for me.
Comments: Sure thing, Jud. I'll just need your bank account and routing number.
Comments: Thanks, Bill! You sure did...and with only minimal spanking. Lynell, just in case, you can go ahead and send me the money now.
Comments: Actually Martha, that was Phil. I raised Jud better than that!
Comments: If you hear about that happening in Crockett, go ahead and send the money. Jud, funny that you were in NY with all the great restaurants and a memory from the past calls you to White Castle. Sounds good and the price is still right.
Comments: If you receive an e-mail from someone you know saying their wallet was taken in Europe and they need money to get home, it's a scam. Some shady person is snagging e-mail addresses from Facebook and sending out requests to people they are "friends" with. Eek!
Comments: While visiting my girls in NYC at Thanksgiving, my youngest (24 ) and I were walking to a park in Astoria and lo & behold a 'White Castle diner' appeared. I had to eat a few , they are now .69 cents each! They were good!
Comments: 56 for SOC Annual Christmas Luncheon this Sunday!
Comments: Martha, I put away my share of pumpkin pie and roast turkey! ![]()
Comments: Hope all the pumpkins and turkeys have been put away. It's time for mistletoe and holly. I guess that's why no one is posting, too busy. Hope to see you Sunday at Peaches' for the Christmas Luncheon.
Comments: Cynthia, thank you. We had our late Thanksgiving dinner on TV trays after I boxed up half of it for our friends. This has sure been a memorable Thanksgiving. Now it's time to cybershop!
Comments: Lynell, sorry to hear David is not feeling well. I think you could use the turkey carkas to make David some soup - add noodles and he will think it is chicken.... Sorry all your planning and work did not go as planned but hey, even stuffing will freeze and taste good later if you get tired of all the leftovers or hold under David gets better. Hope to you see you both at Peaches next weekend.
Comments: I made a huge Thanksgiving dinner today, a couple of days late, so we could celebrate our neighbors' mutual birthday because they were out of town earlier. David has had a cold for a few days but I thought he was well. Just as all these dishes got ready, I took his temperature and it's over 100! I called our friends and offered them take-out turkey and dressing (just like going to Luby's) I guess the rest of it is mine! gobble gobble.
Comments: Hi everyone. Hope your Thanksgiving was special. I am recovering from house guests that were with us for 3 days. Two of them were little girls 8 and 9. They had a blast riding the horses and sufficiently wore out Terry. We are thankful for these wonderful friends and now thankful they are gone..........haaaaaaaaa! John I like your geocoin design...cool!
Comments: Kenny, Mike graduated in 64 and I have gone over our graduation program and find no Tom Sawyer.
Comments: Kenny, if you don't find him through this guestbook, you might want to post messages on the Class of '64 and '65 guestbooks. You can reach their website through the links on the Home page of this one. I believe Mike graduated in '65. Good luck! Hope you find him. |
