Comments: Sam, it is funny that you mentioned Ferrari and California. There is a growing trend originating in Calif. to "Ferrari-fy" Miatas by adding a Ferrari-like insignia on the side of the car. Below is a pic from a meeting of the San Diego Miata Club and you can see two of the cars sporting what looks to be the yellow shields of the famous Ferrari rampaging stallion. I, too, have added them to my own car. You'd be surprised at how many folks have asked me "Is that a Ferrari?". [Answer ... none. But you just wait] ![]()
Comments: Sure, John. Try to stir up some car controversy! Mine, in no particular order; 1955 blue/white Chevy 1957 bronze/white Chevy: most used back seat 1990 Honda Accord 1988 Chevy Caprice (Burgundy): not a babe magnet! 1975 Chrysler Cordoba(white , with rich Corinthian leather) 1969 blue Mustang 1970 blue Dodge Polara--worst purchase 1964 Chevy BelAir (white with red and white rolled and pleated interior) 1998 black TransAm--best purchase, hottest, most fun! And there were 15 very forgettable company cars 2008 Black Cadillac CTS: I LOVE this car!
Comments: You mean "memorable" as opposed to that forgettable list? Looks like the most exciting was an Acura Integra coupe. Gee, that Miata must feel like a Ferrari California!!
Comments: Okay, time for some CAR TALK. Yesterday I was killing time in my doctor's waiting room and decided to make a list of all the cars I've owned over the years. It came to a total of 16. One was only in my ownership for 3 months; the longest was 11 years. Here are the highlights: Most Trouble ... 1978 Oldsmobile Delta 88 (Rust w/tan top) Most Reliable ... 1988 Suzuki Samurai (Metallic Gray) Most Unique ... 1959 Volkswagon (tan w/big flower decals) Worst Purchase ... 1955 Chevy (Turquoise & white) Overall Favorite ... 1997 Acura Integra Hatchback (Maroon) Any memorable cars come to mind for the rest of you?
Comments: Lynell, hope you are feeling better soon. So sorry!! Barry and Jud, you guys are so correct. I just can't imagine how I would react these days. I was used to touching my baby 2nd graders...a hug here, a tug on an arm there...sending soap home with another one with note...hint, hint. I am sure I would be sued today...or fired. What a sad state our ed system is in. I would have been thrilled to only have 20 kids. The smallest class I ever had was 29. Oh, and I would prefer more boys than girls. Boys are much easier to deal with at that age...they are not as emotional! Um, they also grow up that way...ahem!
Comments: Barry, you're right about teachers. And they are underappreciated and underpaid! In today's educational environment, I don't know how they do it. They really have to love it!
Comments: Finally got Joan back to work. After spending the Summer rehabing a broken wrist, I think she was ready. 14 girls and 6 boys in her 4th grade class, so far. And, she says that she has not made any of them cry yet! I find that hard to believe-she usually has a couple on the first day every year. She's already counting down the school days until next Summer. I think she said 173 after yesterday. Only in my worst dreams can I see myself in a room with 20 fourth graders for 173 days. I would last about a week and then be in jail. Teachers are amazing people. All of you ex-SOCites that have been teachers, you have my utmost respect and gratitude. You have one of the most important jobs in our society.
Comments: Jud: What do you think I used him for? You don't think I would eat him, do you? He does taste pretty good......................
Comments: Lynell: My fish picture was not THAT bad!
Comments: I think I have the flu. WAAAAAAAH!
Comments: C'mon, Barry! That fish looks like what I use for bait! Just kidding, nice fish! I've never caught a tripletail that large.
Comments: I've been feeling a little down and out lately. What fun tonight to visit here and the '62 site. Laughing feels so good. Thanks cousin, Barry. You're a hoot.
Comments: Maybe a fishing picture will get some posts started. 18# Tripletail caught in Matagorda Bay last Saturday. http://s299.photobucket.com/albums/mm285/gibbsb/?action=view¤t=photo.jpg
Comments: Sam: It's hard to believe that 39% have their heads buried in the sand. Maybe if you send Johnnie a post in ALL CAPS it will get his attention. All you have to do is look around. There are more houses for sale in our neighborhood than I can remember. (And, they are not selling.) We have customers trading their BMW's in on a Kia because they are afraid of what the economy is going to do. I guess that's part of the "share the wealth" plan. Take what you have worked for all your life and give it to someone that's too lazy to work or that's here illegally. When a state like Arizona tries to protect its citizens, rather than enforce laws already in place, the Federal govt takes AZ to court. The Republicans are not much better. That liberal, John Mc Cain, is ahead in the polls in AZ. If the liberals do not get what they deserve in November, we have no one to blame but ourselves.
Comments: A new Gallup poll out today says that Obama's approval rating with American men is at an all time low, 39%. Obviously we've got some more work to do guys. 39% is way too high!
Comments: I have been out of town since last Weds and there have only been 10 posts to the SOC63 site. A cat video, Phil being hit on at the gym and JS threatening to send someone an e-mail in ALL CAPS. And I eagerly returned to the site today expecting much more! It must be the heat.....................
Comments: My new email address is judcaldwell@att.net
Comments: Phil, the problem may not have been the pick-up line. It may have been either he was only benching 110...or it was you he was after!
Comments: Sam, expect an email in ALL CAPS this afternoon.
Comments: Atta boy Johnny! You got 'em jump started. Did you hear the story about the bleeding heart liberal who..........never mind.
Comments: Lynell, I am jealous and know you enjoyed every morsel of your burger
Comments: I have been to gyms all over the country and world in my work /travels. I know it doesn't show! I saw the most original pick-up line I have ever seen. Today a old guy like me was doing bench presses with about 110 lbs of weight and he spokje up and asked someone to spot him(make sure weight doesn't fall on his neck), I turn to go over there and he shakes his head and asks the attractive 40 something next to me to do it. She looks at me,like is he kidding, and goes over there. I commented to her a little later that I have never seen/heard that as a pick-up line before. She said she hadn't either
Comments: Reminder: Nothing puts a chill on the Guestbook like "cat talk".
Comments: Lynell, I've been laughing my head off at that youtube cat video!!
Comments: All you cat ladies and gentlemen, check this out: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mHXBL6bzAR4&feature=youtube_gdata (Ours would wreck the house if we tried the balloon trick.)
Comments: Roger, Roger, Roger! Why didn't you just tell the truth to begin with?.....you would have been fined and this would all be over. Now, you may face up to 30 years! You have tarnished your image.........fess up!
Comments: Special shout out to Phil and Carol Pelch. I just ate a Jake's double cheeseburger and half an order of Jake fries. Um-mmmm, good! ![]()
