Comments: Michael, I haven't been to see the bats in several years, but I think they're still there. They may be Democrats, and lying low in a heavily Republican area. Lynell, are you wearing your crown again? Or did you get fashionable and get a diamond-studded grill?
Comments: Sam: I read some of the week's postings and they seemed rather boring. No one threatened to leave, no hostile replies-pretty bland stuff. Maybe I will post some more political stuff. I couldn't listen to Mark Levin on the radio from Port O'Connor, so I have no new material. Maybe later in the week. Joan got her hard cast removed today and cried when she saw her arm's condition. Dr. Hurt (real name) asked if she was going to be a cryer and handed her a box of Kleenex. She still has a velcro cast to wear but she can take it off to shower. She starts therapy on Weds. Her hand is shaped sorta like the TCU Frog hand gesture, if you know what that is. No way she could make the UT or TT gesture.
Comments: John, loved the crickets sound bite..yeah they did sound like georgia crickets too...I have a question for our Houston friends, I have wondered if any of you have seen or know anything about the Waugh Bridge Bat Colony. Evertime I pass the intersection of Waugh and Allen Pkwy I see the Bat Colony signs and (sometimes) people gathered with binoculars and cameras, never see bats.
Comments: Barry, no guts no glory on those political posts! It's been so exciting on here while you've been fishing, you just wouldn't believe it. Well, you probably would.
Comments: I know that everyone has been missing the Buddy reports, and for that, I apologize. We were out of town last week on an adventure filled fishing trip to the Texas Gulf Coast. We did not see any tar balls, only very muddy water left over from Alex. Joan was concerned about Buddy and the heat last week and hoped she was still alive. We returned home about 7PM Saturday. Opened the back door and there was Buddy in a nearby tree. Obviously very excited to see us. Two of her offspring were there as well. The only bad news is that it appears that Buddy is pregnant AGAIN. Doesn't she know better? And, we think the father is one of her most recent offspring. Really now! But what else do they have to do? Her injured left rear ankle seems to be healed and she seems he old self. She really gets hungry when she is with children. Joan is going to the doctor today to see if he will remove the cast from her wrist. She was not able to even get on the boat last week due to her injury. Something about it swelling and itching when it gets hot. I know that everyone has been missing the political posts, as well, but I am done with that. Just causes too much stress.
Comments: Jud, the speechless portion of the day will commence at 10:15, and I might just take the webcam. Thanks, by the way, for the tequila medical advice. Your medical skills are in a league with Doctor Proctor.
Comments: Wish I could be there this morning to see Lynell rendered speechless, even if only temporarily!
Comments: Martha, thanks for asking about Nellybelle and Buttermilk..Buttermilk and Trigger Jr. went to private U.S. buyers..$25,000 for Buttermilk and $18,750 for Trigger Jr..Nellybelle went to a horse trainer from New Jersey for $116,500..will be put in a private museum..the auction, held last Thursday, listed over 1000 items..all sold for a total of almost 3 million dollars..in November, RFD-TV is going to start showing the old Roy Rogers movies in hopes of turning a new generation on to Roy and Dale..
Comments: Charlotte, I never noticed this streak of cruelty, you know we're suffering the hot days of summer in Texas. But, like the others, I could work in Colorado in July and August. Lynell, I am so sorry about your tooth was looking forward to your visit. Maybe the next week. Ron, what happened to Buttermilk and Nelly Bell. I am glad Trigger and Bullet found a good home.
Comments: And if you need a cook, butler, male escort, body guard, dance partner, car washer, handyman, etc., call ME! (well, maybe not the handyman part...not my strong suit)
Comments: Lynell, I agree with Jud. Lots of juice in order. Charlotte, should you consider accepting resumes for a caretaker/housekeeper to accompany you next summer, I will definitely apply. It's the least I can do to help out. ![]()
Comments: This has been a good night..just learned that RFD-TV bought Roy Rogers' horse Trigger for $266,000 and Bullet for $35,000..at auction..I believe they now have a good home..they were a large part of our youth and it would have been sad had they been lost to time..I am happy...big time..
Comments: Now there's a good excuse for copious quantities of tequila. Just don't eat the worm!
Comments: RATS!! Saturday night, and I pop off a permanent crown while eating half a Hershey bar. Dentist's office won't open for 36 hours. Now my whole mouth feels off kilter.
Comments: The water in our pool is 94 degrees. Outdoor temp is 110, if the thermometer on the patio is to be trusted. Aargh! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()
Comments: Sure, Charlotte... Rub it in! 101 here yesterday with over 80% humidity! Just remember, we know where you live. Seriously, I'm envious.
Comments: 68* degrees.........sort of cool in the Rockies! This evening I went to a restaurant on the banks of the Yampa River.....um... great band...82* at 6 PM and fun watching the tubers going down the river. It cooled off when the sun went down. Oh and there was even a fly fisherman fishing to the tempo of the band. Company coming tomorrow..........last hurrah! haaaaaaaaaa!
Comments: Jud, you will need more than a GPS to find Martha's house. We refer to the road to her house as Blair Witch, Deliverance.
Comments: Martha, you forgot to include directions to your house. And I've got a great wine to go with that chocolate!
Comments: I made a dark chocolate torte this morning about 10:00 so guess we were all thinking about it. My sister and brother-in-law are on their way and I am having a dinner party tonight, thus the torte. Served with real whipping cream and fresh raspberry sauce. Makes up for any mistakes in the meal itself. Enjoy your weekend. The inventor of the goose neck trailer, John Ben Carrabba, passed away yesterday and his funeral is here Monday so I will be doing more cooking this weekend. We feed the mournful well in Crockett.
Comments: It did work Brenda - how in the world do they do that! Geez must have more time and brains than me...okay - enough said, back to script writing for the next reality show failure. Awe - the simple easier life.
Comments: And aren't we an exciting group?
Comments: Is there ever a time to not think about chocolate? Well, maybe one...although I'd have to really think about that.
Comments: Brenda, I love it that someone besides me is thinking about chocolate at 10:09 p.m. I'll do the math on this later.
Comments: Thought this was kinda cool...try it!! 1. Pick number of times a week you would like to have chocolate 2. Multiply that by 2 3 Add 5. 4. Multiply that number by 50. 5. If you have already had your b'day this year add 1760. If not add 1759. 6. Now subtract the 4 digit year that you were born. 7. You should now have a 3 digit number. The first being how often you wanted chocolate in a week and the last two should be your age!!!
Comments: For you collectors of rare SOC memorabillia - there is a 1954 edition of The Den available on eBay. The auction ends Friday morning. The former owner was a Mrs. Lindley ... an English teacher. http://cgi.ebay.com/1954-DALLAS-TEXAS-SOUTH-OAK-CLIFF-HIGH-SCHOOL-YEARBOOK-/380249609672?cmd=ViewItem&pt=US_Nonfiction_Book&hash=item5888a495c8
Comments: Still awaiting the blossoming of the Houstonian corpse plant. "Flower? We don't need no stinkin' flower!"
Comments: A frenzy is over rated!!!!
Comments: Yep, you've got 'em in a real frenzy here Johnny.
Comments: Now those last 2 postings are too funny - love your humor Lynell and JS. It is good to smile. |
