Wow! Unbelievable fireworks in the neighborhood tonight!

Our neighborhood parade consisted mostly of cute kids in decorated red wagons, bicycles with streamers and bunting, and plenty of dogs who were good sports about dressing up.

Several politicians used the opportunity to promote themselves also.

GOD BLESS AMERICA

and our TROOPS EVERYWHERE!

Went to a small town parade this morning.  It was so much fun.  There was even a camel in the parade....haaa!!  At the end of the parade the U S Air Force did a 4 jet fly over.  The town sent up 4 smokey pops to salute them.  Fun to witness but hard to describe.  It was a great time.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY AMERICA!

LET FREEDOM RING!

Freedom, America is all about differences and freedom. We are FREE to express our differences We are a Christian nation no matter how much others try to take it away. We were founded on those beliefs. God Bless America! I love this country! I have lived overseas for 5 years and traveled overseas alot. In spite of all of our differences and inperfections America is the best country to live in. Enjoy your family and friends and celebrate our country  America! Be safe and happy.

Char, sounds like a perfect way to celebrate the 4th of July...62* sounds heavenly!  I'ts Independence Day..."Let Freedom Ring, Let the white dove sing, let the whole world know that today is a day of reckoning...Let the weak be  strong, let the right be wrong, roll the stone away...make the guilty pay....It's Independence Day!"  I love that song!

Happy 4th everyone!  I was thinking about Daddy and how much he  loved this holiday... he sure would hate all of this rain.

I remember my first summer in Texas, and he took me to a fireworks stand on 75.  We had 2 grocery bags full of firecrackers, poppers, sparklers, and bottle rockets, I think that is what they were called.  I'm not sure which one of us had more fun.

Daddy, if you can read this from up in heaven, I miss and love you every day.

During this holiday season, we should all celebrate the greatness of our country, and reach inside and find a sense of humor, or at least try.  It may help.

Jud, never mind your camera...only a Deb can speak for Debs...yakin' about what ain't happin' is just something people do...it's a joke, I know that...but the Debs would prefer to be respected!  If you were a Deb and you want to disagree with me, then I'm not speakin' for you but I do speak for the rest of us!!

John, I believe you are mistaken.  Most of those guys are wearing Adamson and Woodrow Wilson colors, not SOC.  They certainly are a talented group.  Imagine when the NFL discovers the vuvuzela, especially that little hand-held job.

Sam, splits?  You make me glad I couldn't make Debs!

The rumor mill has it right Johnny.  We intend to march around the perimeter of the birthday gathering until we are invited to join the meal, for free of course, or a large enough donation is made that we go elsewhere.  I forgot to mention that we will be joined by the Golden Age Debs, in uniform of course, and in lockstep.  It's not everyday that we can witness mass aging.  PS  We will provide a Medicare sign up table, free, but with a donation jar for those so inclined.   Now, back to practicing our 4th of July vuvuzela program.  It's great, especially God Bless America, when the Golden Age Debs end with the splits.  Awesome!

Cousin Sam, show us your vuvuzela!

The latest rumor on the "grapevine" is that our SOC 65th Birthday Party will have entertainment provided by the Class of '62's famous "Marching Vuvuzela Band"!

Here is a recent performance in southernmost Oak Cliff:

Lynell, are the cats still able to claim
you and David as dependents? Or has your new-found Social Security wealth eliminated that deduction for them?
Sure, Sam. I'll help the black sheep of your family...in HIS car.

No problem Lynell.  Jud, I saw a byline on the Drudge Report awhile ago......"Oil found in crabs...".   Could you get Cousin Johnny to the Dr?

Our cats make more than that.  Or at least they should.  (Kindly e-mail me that info on the sly.)

Never mind.  I was going to tell everyone where to go to get their official Obama Tax Hike Exemption Card, but it only works for families making under $250,000 per year.  Everyone here makes more than that.  Never mind.

How long does it take to mow that huge yard?  15 minutes?  I only remember seeing about 20 s.f. of grass.  The rest is beds, walks, driveways, pool, tennis court, dog run, patio, etc.  If I had no more to mow than you, I would sell the mower and just use hand clippers.  It would probably be quicker than firing up the 50" Kubota Zero Turn.  Just a suggestion.......

I suspect that Peaches has so many great friends because she IS such a great friend.  Enjoy all those lunches and din-dins!  You can stretch this birthday out for a month, with luck!

It was so much fun reading my birthday wishes. Thanks to all of you! Birthdays are so much fun. I love getting cards, wishes, having lunch/dinner with friends. Yesterday was great. I still have about 5 lunches or dinners to get together with friends for my birthday. I love it. I am so blessed to have so many GREAT friends. I keep my cards up all month and enjoy them. Friendships are one of my passions. I may not have a husband or children but I am blessed with really good friends!!!!

Happy 4th of July!!!   Be safe!!!

Everyone have a safe and happy 4th and remember those that made our freedom possible and those that are trying to take it away.

Oh, and get ready for oil and gas prices to go through the roof.  Obama was not able to get a moratorium on offshore drilling, so he simply had the EPA shut down 30% of our nation's refining capacity, most if not all is in Texas.

If the current administration has its way, we have more freedom today than we will ever have in the future.  So, let's all celebrate this weekend.

Bill, this is an ongoing pattern with this group of Obama's political appointees/czars. And I mean that in a purely socioeconomic and morals way, not political. Have a happy 4th,

"I'm sorry. I completely forgot about that $40K I was paid." Can any of you make a statement like that?
Patrick Gaspard, President Obama's political director, apparently can. He failed to disclose the payment (from SEIU, a powerful union that lobbies Congress and the White House). When it was uncovered the WH stated that the form had been corrected in what was a "minor administrative error."
Oh well, we only get transparent when we get caught.

So that this is not construed as a purely political post, I'm wishing everyone a safe and happy 4th of July!
