Comments: I received a survey a few days ago from Today's Options, which is the Medicare Advantage Plan I have for 2010. I think it's the third time I've received it. I filled it out the first time, trashed it the second, and filled the latest one out, although I threw questions back to them. Actually I think the whole deal with repeating sending it is to (1) make sure you're still well enough to keep sending your premiums and/or (2)test your skills at filling out the survey, and being consistent, and (3) seeing if you even notice that you've received it previously. On the question about daily consumption of alcohol, the possible answers included NONE, or ONE OR LESS A DAY. So, I asked them a question, "One or less WHAT a day"? Do they mean bottle, glass, tankard, pitcher, case, keg, vat or what? I answered one or less. They're just trying to trick us elder statesmen! We'll show them!
Comments: For those of you that want to get a head start on understanding the Constitution by listening to the Mark Levin Show, you might want to spend some time on his website. Enjoy! http://www.marklevinshow.com/home.asp#
Comments: Happy birthday to you, Happy birthday to you, happy birthday Dear Pat Spaniel Kriska, Happy birthday to you!!!!!!! And many many more!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Comments: Johnboy, aren't you about due for another root canal? Or a colonoscopy? I can handle either one for you.
Comments: Cuz, politics is ugly. Speaking of oil: Venezuela has notified a US oil rig owner/operator, Helmrich & Payne, that it's nationalizing 11 of their rigs operating there (as in seize). Since 2007 , in addition to oil production, Venezuela has seized utilities, telecom, cement, steel and banking businesses. I recall Venezuela being one of the garden spots I suggested those with a socialist bent migrate to. And I notice that the US has now agreed to accept oil spill aid from 12 countries. Wasn't the American public screaming for just that about 9 or 10 weeks ago? Could it be that the dog is beginning to wag the inept government tail, as it should, rather than the other way around? Plug that well, clean up that oil. Everyone have a great day.
Comments: You guys better play nice. Remember it is only 935 days til Obama's 2nd term begins.
Comments: Yes, Barry...about the sense of humor...it takes a real "joker" to get into good graces with the current administration...and a sense of humor will aid in getting past the corruption that exists in high places...laugh it off and have another beer...wait a minute...I'm beginning to frighten myself...sadly it's true!
Comments: Claudia: Can you tell me what having a good sense of humor has to do with being a Supreme Court Justice? I'm having trouble understanding that comment made by Kathleen. If you do listen to Mark, you have to be thick skinned. He sometimes gets so abrasive that I have trouble listening. He has no patience with those that call to waste his time or that call to talk about something that has been beat to death. But, he is extremely well versed in the Constitution. I would also highly recommend his book, Liberty and Tyranny. Mark is also a dog lover and has written a book about the loss of his dog, Sprite.
Comments: "Fair minded and brilliant" are words I would have never associated with Kagan, but then I have studied her background...what precious little there is of it.
Comments: Barry, I'll take your challenge, but those who think the liberals are "fair minded and brilliant" won't move an inch even if they listen for a month...they already know what they know...eventhough they are "fair minded and brilliant!
Comments: If you want to hear someone that makes sense, I challenge you to listen to the Mark Levin Show for a week. He comes on WBAP 820 in the Dallas area from 5-8PM. He is a constitutional lawyer and served in the Reagan White House. He is an abrasive Jewish guy but he knows his stuff. You might also read his book, Liberty and Tyranny. His show is syndicated nationwide, so I'm sure it is on in your area. You Libs say you are open-minded, so now is your chance to prove it. Give him a week-that's all I ask.
Comments: Thank you, Jud, but I believe that Twilight Zone theme is in your head, dear. Sort of like tinnitus, only with a tune.
Comments: I totally agree. Some things people say...... MAKE NO SENSE....................Whatsoever...! Sigh.................
Comments: What's really boring is people making statements that make no sense, whatsoever. Sigh!
Comments: Outstanding, Lynell! How in the world did you get the Twilight Zone theme on here?
Comments: Char...same here...SIGH...does it get any more boring than this...and people making statements about people who are chameleons as if they know them personally...SIGH!
Comments: This is not intended as a political statement, but it just seems to me that a member of the Supremes should at least have sat on a JP bench at some point. In 1976 when I was sworn in as a CSR (certified shorthand reporter) the oath included "to uphold and defend the Constitution of the United States of America." I said to the judge, "But I've never even read the Constitution." He said not to worry about it, just say I do. I later read it, and there's all kinds of stuff in there I didn't know about. Housing soldiers, all manner of stuff. I hope Future Justice Kagan is better at upholding the Constitution than a lot of people in office. Or me, for that matter.
Comments: SIGH!
Comments: Maybe Jud, Sam and Barry should be doing the questioning instead of the Senators. You are right, Sam, Elena Kagan will be the next Supreme Court judge. She seems to be fair minded and brilliant. I wasn't trying to make a political statement when I made that post.
Comments: Can anyone tell me one positive thing the federal government has done under the current administration? We are an embarrassment around the world. We have turned our backs on our friends and treated our enemies like royalty. We had 17 or so "friends" offer to help with the oil spill, however, our government ignored their offers. I bet they won't be so quick to offer next time! I feel so bad for our children and grandchildren because they are the ones that will be trying to clean up this Obama mess.
Comments: Kagan is from the same mold as Obama. Say what the masses want to hear now and ignore them later. Nothing more than a popularity contest. I just wish the Republicans had the stomach to treat the Democrat candidates in the same manner as the Democrats have treated the Republican candidates. The Supreme Court is supposed to follow the Constitution, not rewrite it. Yesterday was a prime example. The 2nd Amendment is very clear about the right to keep and bear arms, yet the 4 liberal justices wanted to rewrite the Constitution yet another time. Kagan has a liberal history and has no judicial experience, unless you count her losses at the Supreme Court as experience. She was on the wrong side that time, too.
Comments: Kagan's a lefty, a liberal, and Sessions is very bright (but name calling is a lefty attribute). The liberals have the votes 12-7, so we need to dispense with the dog and pony show and vote her in, and get on with hope and change. We do have hope, and there is going to be change. Come on November. We're running out of other people's money to spend!
Comments: I can't even believe we are wasting our time with Kagan. She us TOTALLY unqualified, by any measurement. But that seems to be the theme of this administration. So I give points for consistency.
Comments: Hey Jud. Hey Barry. Jump in here. It must be Saturday noon-3 pm.
Comments: I hope you political junkies are watching the Elena Kagan judiciary hearings. She seems to be handling with ease some difficult questions. She has a great sense of humor which comes through. Senator Lindsey from North Carolina is such a polite, southern gentlemen compared to Jefferson Sessions from Alabama. You would think the state of Alabama would be ashamed to elect someone who is so rude and ignorant. He could have asked her the same questions in a polite way instead of being so belligerent.
Comments: John, when I wrote my comment I was thinking that you are probably the only one of us who doesn't make mistakes (and wondering how you manage to do that). When I wrote my comment, I was unaware of the unwritten rules of cyberspace. For some strange reason your comments remind me of a sixties bumper sticker "Colorless green ideas sleep furiously." Chomsky
Comments: Kathleen, I am more than willing to cut you some "grammer slack" ... in fact, such practice is already included in the unwritten laws of cyberspace: http://people.consolidated.net/swsw/grammer.jpg In the past I admit I was a bit pro-detail about typos and mizspellings. Gotta run and grab a couple of snoozes before I hook up with a certain inlovidual later on.
Comments: Animals are dedicated! Yesterday afternoon, we had a full fledged storm at the shop. Raining about as hard as possible and probably 60mph+ winds. Rain was blowing all the way through the shop. Lightening took out our computer UPS, but the computer survived. For the past week or so, we have had a dove on a nest on our outside lift. Heavy steel and in the sun all day. Got to be way over 100 where he/she is. I looked out during the middle of the storm and he/she was still on the nest. We had one there last year, too. You would think with all the trees in the neighborhood that she could find a better place for a nest. At least, the nest is safe from cats! Doves are pretty cool. One mate for life and the male and female take turns on the nest. Nature works in wondrous ways.
Comments: Our guest room has twin beds, so you'll all be nice and cozy. We call one cat The Anvil because he is immovable once asleep.
Comments: Lynell, we'll have to color coordinate. The 4 cats who own me are gray, gray & white, Siamese, and kind of a brindle color. And the 4 dogs who will also accompany me are white, gray, tan, and black and white. No extra accomodations required since they all sleep on me! |
