And we definitely recognize that we will not change anyone's deep-seated ideologies. And we do not stoop to name calling. And thanks, Sharon...I recognized your sense of humor (hey, maybe you should be the Supreme Court nominee!)

Comments: Martha, I like that answer. Muck better than my usual comment on those forms, "There's more old drunks thank there are old doctors." As for TV selections in the afternoon, try the cooking channel. Then head out to the store and buy several quarts of heavy cream, a couple pounds of every cheese they have -- except Parmigiano-Reggiano, and you will need a whole wheel of that -- and a pound or two of butter. That way you'll be ready to prepare most dishes.
Comments: Okay Barry, I bought Liberty and Tyranny today. I'll let you know what I think of it. Sam, when the how much alcohol do you consume a day comes up on any form, I put, "Not as much as my Uncle Elias did.". That seems to work. And since some are looking for a lighter side today, last night built a fire on my back slope of a yard and cooked hot dogs and some-mores. Yummy!

Looks like Elin is getting $750M (that's $750,000,000), custody of the kids, and her silence....and that could have been you!.........Speaking of silence, I'll be glad to settle for considerably less and leave the site. Comments: Ginger, I think maybe you need to calm down just a bit and scroll back thru several days of messages on this site. The only message of hate begins "Political Warriors of Hate..!" and was posted by you. If Linda "got her nose out of joint" because her political/social leanings don't agree with others on this site, then she is free to do as she claimed and leave. We can all make that same decision. I've watched this site for several days and have seen nothing that is remotely close to being "hateful" being posted by Sam, Jud or Barry. If you disagree with them, them post some legitimate facts to support your position. Don't just get your "hackles up" and call them names.

Comments: Sharon, so that intelligent conversation about topics that affect us all doesn't get sidetracked, I'll assume that your comment about Barry, Jud and myself was tongue-in-cheek humor. I'll accept it at that, because otherwise you're saying that we as conservative political thinkers could be dangerous. I think you've got us confused with anarchists and radicals at the other end of the spectrum, but again, I'll assume it was humor.
Comments: Sharon: I can assure you that Sam, Jud and I are as calm as can be. We haven't been typing in bold letters or referring to "hate". I can assure you that Kathleen does not have to worry about her security as far as we are concerned. The truth often agitates people when they think that there might just be a chance that they are wrong. I do appreciate your including me in the group with Sam and Jud. I couldn't be in better company.
Comments: Kathleen, friend, please make sure that you have enough security in your home and car, because as worked up as Barry, Sam and even my friend, Jud, have become over your remarks, there is no telling what they might do. It is obvious that they need a place to vent, but I certainly wish it weren't on this site.

Comments: I received a survey a few days ago from Today's Options, which is the Medicare Advantage Plan I have for 2010. I think it's the third time I've received it. I filled it out the first time, trashed it the second, and filled the latest one out, although I threw questions back to them. Actually I think the whole deal with repeating sending it is to (1) make sure you're still well enough to keep sending your premiums and/or (2)test your skills at filling out the survey, and being consistent, and (3) seeing if you even notice that you've received it previously. On the question about daily consumption of alcohol, the possible answers included NONE, or ONE OR LESS A DAY. So, I asked them a question, "One or less WHAT a day"? Do they mean bottle, glass, tankard, pitcher, case, keg, vat or what? I answered one or less. They're just trying to trick us elder statesmen! We'll show them!

Comments: Cuz, politics is ugly. Speaking of oil: Venezuela has notified a US oil rig owner/operator, Helmrich & Payne, that it's nationalizing 11 of their rigs operating there (as in seize). Since 2007 , in addition to oil production, Venezuela has seized utilities, telecom, cement, steel and banking businesses. I recall Venezuela being one of the garden spots I suggested those with a socialist bent migrate to. And I notice that the US has now agreed to accept oil spill aid from 12 countries. Wasn't the American public screaming for just that about 9 or 10 weeks ago? Could it be that the dog is beginning to wag the inept government tail, as it should, rather than the other way around? Plug that well, clean up that oil. Everyone have a great day.

Comments: Claudia: Can you tell me what having a good sense of humor has to do with being a Supreme Court Justice? I'm having trouble understanding that comment made by Kathleen. If you do listen to Mark, you have to be thick skinned. He sometimes gets so abrasive that I have trouble listening. He has no patience with those that call to waste his time or that call to talk about something that has been beat to death. But, he is extremely well versed in the Constitution. I would also highly recommend his book, Liberty and Tyranny. Mark is also a dog lover and has written a book about the loss of his dog, Sprite.
Comments: "Fair minded and brilliant" are words I would have never associated with Kagan, but then I have studied her background...what precious little there is of it.

Comments: If you want to hear someone that makes sense, I challenge you to listen to the Mark Levin Show for a week. He comes on WBAP 820 in the Dallas area from 5-8PM. He is a constitutional lawyer and served in the Reagan White House. He is an abrasive Jewish guy but he knows his stuff. You might also read his book, Liberty and Tyranny. His show is syndicated nationwide, so I'm sure it is on in your area. You Libs say you are open-minded, so now is your chance to prove it. Give him a week-that's all I ask. |
