Comments: Oh my! I just saw that the Nekkid Cowboy in New York City is very upset because an AGING former stripper is donning a bikini, cowgirl hat and playing a guitar claiming to be The Nekkid Cowgirl....You know? Life is hard. I think he should sue! ![]()
Comments: LGS, you know THAT'S not why your picture is up at Luby's (or anywhere else)
Comments: Peaches, be sure you have plenty of bibs....those who fear dancing might cause an injury will probably be drooling!
Comments: Every birthday I thank God, Grantor of birthdays, for his generosity to me. Peaches, I am glad to hear the dinner will be a sit-down. Never liked standing in line or dealing with a heavy tray and my gimpy wrists. Been known to drop one or two over the years. Maybe that's why my picture's on the wall at the local Luby's.
Comments: I do not know about you guys, but I am not ready to start talking about that "old" stuff at a get together yet except in jest. We will have a sit down dinner for convenience and more affordable so they tell me. I love Luby's but not one close by. This will be a night for visiting. We, of course, will have music and dance (for those of us who love it!!! girls???). Hopefully, I will not have any more falls before then (slipped on shampoo at a grocery store and went down on my right knee......ouch!!!! it is healing slowly). We will celebrate with delight that we are 65 (0r soon to be) and just getting better and wiser. Now, as far as memory goes at this age, I just hope I remember to plan it. giggle giggle. On another note, I will not talk politics here, but I am a conservation and proud of it!
Comments: Char, most intelligent people know that we don't have the power to "make" someone leave or "run" them off! Some however, like to think they do! As if what they say really matters! Ridiculous!
Comments: You guys are hilarious! If someone gets miffed and leaves, that is their choice and loss. No one is twisting arms to get people to lurk here or participate. This is just a place to keep in touch and visit with our ol' classmates.......we just have to own what we say. Political stuff DOES turn some people off...no one ever convinces the opposed to see it their way.........we're too old and set in our convictions...at least I know I am. It is so hot here that it is a miserable walk for even my doggy girls. sheesh! We go for a little walk and we get near home they tend to race back to the AC.....I know that sidewalk and street must be as hot as blazes on their little feet! We all suffering this heat..I even see the birds walking around with their mouths open........that keeps them cooler.
Comments: Sam, I think you should follow our leader's example and go on an apology tour. Who knows? There could be a Pulitzer in it for you.
Comments: Sticks and stones, Moonshine! I'm going to have to get a blackboard to keep up with who's suing who over what. I know that certain states and organizations go forward with their lawsuits challenging the constitutionality of Obamacare. And it appears that the federal government is going to sue Arizona over its new immigration law, probably because its a smokescreen to delay the feds from imposing laws that already exist. After all, its voting base is eroding due to incompetent governing, and broken promise after broken promise, and it can't afford to enforce immigration laws, lest some more voters go away..........On another political note, it's been suggested by one of your classmates here, more than once, that I apologize to Linda Sargent Jimenez, who got her political feelings hurt, took her toys, and went home. So, am I supposed to apologize for hurting her feelings, or posting a political position she's opposed to? If I slide way, way left and make a leftist, liberal comment, am I supposed to assume she'll return? My regrets that she chose to leave such a great forum. My hope is that she'll return and post again, about politics or anything. After all, this is the class forum for SOC '63, and I am a guest.
Comments: JS, They will probably call him "The Big K-ahuna" or TBK! You know the type...nobody who thinks they are somebody! Hahahaha!
Comments: Okay, it's the noon to three Political posting segment of the week ... For the MANY of you who sent me private emails inquiring about the results of last week's presidential election in Poland - there was no majority winner. So on July 4th there will be a runoff election between Jaroslaw Kaczynski (the identical twin brother of the deceased president) and front runner Bronislaw Komorowski. Either way, the next president will be known as "The Big K-ski". You heard it here first!
Comments: Haa. I want to go on record as having never drooled over a doctor, ortho or otherwise. However, my opthalmologist is a handsome young man, with a charming southern accent. When I saw him for a checkup, he mentioned I have cataracts, but they won't need attention for five years. He said, "At your age, I doubt you are making plans for five years down the road." Figuring he had a nice accent, but failed to attend charm school, I asked if he had a guarantee he would be here five years from now.
Comments: I'm with you, Martha!
Comments: I might eat some salsa, but dance? Might break a hip, knee, ankle, etc. and then I'd need one of those ortho docs you gals are drooling over.
Comments: Oh the possibilities for a guest speaker.....Medicare .....Social Security....Long Term Health Care...etc. etc. I say let's have a salsa dance instructor and a margarita machine.....we refuse to be old yet!
Comments: And we need to arrange for plenty of fiber for JS. We all know what he is full of. Oh wait, not sure we need him unloading at the celebration. Maybe we can deliver the fiber to him a week ahead.
Comments: Better make sure soft foods are available. JS said he had a root canal but I'm thinking it was dentures.
Comments: Will Meals on Wheels deliver to the Omni?
Comments: Peaches, maybe we should make the "65th Birthday" a lunch event? I'm not sure I can stay up late enough for a dinner party. Is there a Luby's cafeteria near the OMNI?
Comments: It's both...Sam. Educational and Political... Heh-heh... I've been gone...all day or most of it.. Had Physical Therapy. Had Restorative Yoga. Went to our 'Friendly,Neighborhood Produce Store' .. Visited the 'Otherlands Cafe. for a bagel, cream cheese and iced coffee and I'm now...back.. You-all were talking about rules before I left... Find another topic..It can be non-political.. Anyone seen Iron Man 2...? I love Robert Downey Jr.. I hope he stays clean and sober.. He's such a good actor...
Comments: A friend of mine was captain of the drill team at Sam Rayburn in Pasadena in the 1970's and they all wore falls (hair pieces) so their hair would be the same.
Comments: I know we had rules. I just don't remember them being on a written list. You have some of them......but I also remember no eye make up and no dyed hair.
Comments: Whatever rules they gave you Debs, we were all proud of you. Now that said, I wonder if any of the paddle wheel/steam? boats that were on the lake at Fair Park until one blew up are still stored anywhere in Dallas.....I sure would like to have one on my little lake here. If not, anyone know where a swan boat might be? How's this for staying off nix nay topics JS?
Comments: Char, you absolutely did have this list of rules and signed them after reciting them...or perhaps it was only for those of us who were surely prone "to get in trouble"...nah! It was for everyone...your memory is failing you this time...the last one was, "don't complain! if you don't like Debs, resign!" That's the one I remember...also there was the no drinking, no smoking and I was reminded by a friend of this one. "Shorts should be long enough to cover the subject but long enough to make it interesting." Does any of this sound familiar? You know Miss T loves you to pieces!
Comments: I think Provincetown is asking for trouble. Parents will rise up! At least I would. Ridiculous! Claudia, I can't remember a list OR signing anything. Is that why I always seemed to be in trouble with Miss T back then? Or was that "making trouble FOR Miss T"??? hmmmmm My orthos (hip doc, shoulder doc and foot and ankle doc) have their imaging labs right down the hall and the tech sends the results instantly to a computer in the exam room so that they can show me and discuss my case with me. If I need a special MRI...then I go to a lab on a different floor.......but all of my docs have these convenient labs........thankfully! I know what it is to hobble and it is awful! Sorry you are enduring this Kathleen.
Comments: Dorothy Shamblin Averitte and I have been updating our SOC 63 classmates list. If you have any changes since our last Reunion please email me as soon as possible. We are working on it again tomorrow. We will have our 65th Birthday Celebration in October (working on the date) at the Omni Hotel.a Saturay night dinner and breakfast on Sunday. More details later.
Comments: Lynell, you could always fill them up with water and drop them on people's heads as they walk by from a tall building. My ten year old son was doing this with his friends when he attended school at First Baptist.
Comments: I would have made a balloon animal.
Comments: An ounce of prevention without parents' permission, or even their knowledge? Where do you put the brakes on government intervention?
Comments: Sam, An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. |
