Charlotte, I don't know if it is hotter in Houston than Dallas, but I would certainly call this "the dog days of summer." My poor, little, pug Sofie is very upset because she doesn't tolerate the heat well. Something about her being a brachycephalic (flat-faced) breed. She seems sad having to stay inside, but after a couple of minutes outside she is ready to come back into the house. Since we still have July and August coming up, we are in for a long summer.
Does anyone know if Mexico beat Argentina today? Not particularly a soccer fan, but have been sort of watching the world cup games.

Jud, love the "geezer power"! I was wondering if anyone owns the rites to "nekkid tennis player"... maybe that would help keep you cool!  I'm just sayin'........

Martha, can't you get Blue Bell there? Charlotte, the humidity is so thick we almost need gills! I
am finally rehydrated enough that I can move around without fear of cramping. But, I had fun...and I beat a smart-aleck kid of 33 who trash talked me in the beginning. Geezer Power!

Charlotte, yesterday Accu Weather showed Crockett to be 98 with a 132 heat index (it was actually 112, just a typo but that is hot enough).  Going to see The A Team in an air conditioned theater in Palestine this afternoon.  Having cataract surgery on my other eye in the morning so I loaded up on Lean Cuisines and Ben and Jerry ice cream to make it through a few days of recouping.

You go Czarina!

It is sooooooooooo hot in Houston today!  I walked my young dog a few blocks and came back sweltering.  What will August be like?  I saw on FB that Jud played tennis very early this morning and still needed to replace the gallons of water he lost during the matches.

I am using all these hot colors to let you know how I feel right now!

Did any of you know that Mary McCord-Bach's brother Bedford had a stroke a few weeks back?  She states he cannot walk or talk and it was a pretty bad one.  Mary has been through so much heartache in her sweet life, sending her our prayers for Bedford and for strength to our lovely friend.  God Bless you Mary.

Last night I saw Colin Powell slinking out of our local Blockbuster's with a copy of "Green Zone" under his arm! [Not really].

If you're looking for an excellent action-thriller movie this summer I recommend Green Zone. Matt Damon does a fine job in this conspiracy plot that leaves you thinking this may not be fictional.

The movie is based on the U.S. occupation of Baghdad in 2003 and the active search for weapons of mass destruction (WMD's). The filming really looks like Baghdad, but was mostly filmed in Morocco.

In spite of the catchy name, there appears to be very little "green" in the Green Zone. Mostly shades of tan and brown juxtaposed against the sound of gunfire. I liked it.

Isn't there room in NYC for more than one "nekkid" person...some folks just haven't learned to share.  "It's all about me" is a rampant concept even in our own circles...makes me want to throw something!  Get over yourself...get a life beyond yourself...there is a whole world in need and believe it or not, it is NOT all about you! There, I feel much better now! Everyone have a happy Sunday...oh, and don't take my remarks personal...after all, it isn't really about YOU! Love to all my '63 friends!

So, Donna is getting ready for church this morning and some old B&W movie is on the bedroom TV. Just as I walked into the room I heard this line, "You're in Washington now, quit being so responsible about money." Seems this has been a problem for quite a while.

Can a person get a patent on NEKKID?  Seems like a SOC boy would have done that by now.

Oh my!  I just saw that the Nekkid Cowboy in New York City is very upset because an AGING former stripper is donning a bikini, cowgirl hat and playing a guitar claiming to be The Nekkid Cowgirl....You know? Life is hard.  I think he should sue!

Every birthday I thank God, Grantor of birthdays, for his generosity to me.

Peaches, I am glad to hear the dinner will be a sit-down.  Never liked standing in line or dealing with a heavy tray and my gimpy wrists. Been known to drop one or two over the years.  Maybe that's why my picture's on the wall at the local Luby's.

I do not know about you guys, but I am not ready to start talking about that "old" stuff at a get together yet except in jest. We will have a sit down dinner for convenience and more affordable so they tell me. I love Luby's but not one close by. This will be a night for visiting. We, of course, will have music and dance (for those of us who love it!!! girls???). Hopefully, I will not have any more falls before then (slipped on shampoo at a grocery store and went down on my right knee......ouch!!!! it is healing slowly). We will celebrate with delight that we are 65 (0r soon to be) and just getting better and wiser. Now, as far as memory goes at this age, I just hope I remember to plan it. giggle giggle. On another note, I will not talk politics here, but I am a conservation and proud of it!

Char, most intelligent people know that we don't have the power to "make" someone leave or "run" them off! Some however, like to think they do! As if what they say really matters!  Ridiculous!

You guys are hilarious!  If someone gets miffed and leaves, that is their choice and loss.  No one is twisting arms to get people to lurk here or participate.  This is just a place to keep in touch and visit with our ol' classmates.......we just have to own what we say.  Political stuff DOES turn some people off...no one ever convinces the opposed to see it their way.........we're too old and set in our convictions...at least I know I am.

It is so hot here that it is a miserable walk for even my doggy girls.  sheesh!  We go for a little walk and we get near home they tend to race back to the AC.....I know that sidewalk and street must be as hot as blazes on their little feet!

We all suffering this heat..I even see the birds walking around with their mouths open........that keeps them cooler.

Sam, I think you should follow our leader's example and go on an apology tour. Who knows? There could be a Pulitzer in it for you.

Sticks and stones, Moonshine!  I'm going to have to get a blackboard to keep up with who's suing who over what.  I know that certain states and organizations go forward with their lawsuits challenging the constitutionality of Obamacare.  And it appears that the federal government is going to sue Arizona over its new immigration law, probably because its a smokescreen to delay the feds from imposing laws that already exist.  After all, its voting base is eroding due to incompetent governing, and broken promise after broken promise, and it can't afford to enforce immigration laws, lest some more voters go away..........On another political note, it's been suggested by one of your classmates here, more than once, that I apologize to Linda Sargent Jimenez, who got her political feelings hurt, took her toys, and went home.  So, am I supposed to apologize for hurting her feelings, or posting a political position she's opposed to?  If I slide way, way left and make a leftist, liberal comment, am I supposed to assume she'll return?  My regrets that she chose to leave such a great forum.  My hope is that she'll return and post again, about politics or anything.   After all, this is the class forum for SOC '63, and I am a guest.

Okay, it's the noon to three Political posting segment of the week ...

For the MANY of you who sent me private emails inquiring about the results of last week's presidential election in Poland - there was no majority winner.

So on July 4th there will be a runoff election between Jaroslaw Kaczynski (the identical twin brother of the deceased president) and front runner Bronislaw Komorowski.

Either way, the next president will be known as "The Big K-ski". You heard it here first!

Haa.  I want to go on record as having never drooled over a doctor, ortho or otherwise.

However, my opthalmologist is a handsome young man, with a charming southern accent.  When I saw him for a checkup, he mentioned I have cataracts, but they won't need attention for five years.  He said, "At your age, I doubt you are making plans for five years down the road."  Figuring he had a nice accent, but failed to attend charm school, I asked if he had a guarantee he would be here five years from now.

Might break a hip, knee, ankle, etc. and then I'd need one of those ortho docs you gals are drooling over.

Peaches, maybe we should make the "65th Birthday" a lunch event? I'm not sure I can stay up late enough for a dinner party.

Is there a Luby's cafeteria near the OMNI?
