I have just spent the last five hours going to the doctor to have someone look at my sprained ankle. After hobbling into see the doctor(who by the way was a handsome gay doctor for those of you who want to know these things). Then, he sent me as he put to"big Baylor" to Baylor Outpatient Imaging and I had to hobble in there. It seemed like miles and miles. I don't know why every time I go to a doctor these days, I end up having to go to some medical lab for testing and x-rays. This takes up the time of the patient at a time when some of us don't want to be messed with. Whatever happened to doctors doing their own testing and whatever happened to convenience for the patient? What ever happened to customer service?

If I had paid attention in school, rather than focusing on (1) sitting by a pretty girl, and (2) that pretty girl and I sitting by the window because there was no A/C......then, I could spell "teacher" correctly.

Would any of our talented, wise and omniscient school tearchers, or retired teachers, or anyone else for that matter like to weigh in on the new rule in the Provincetown, Mass. schools to distribute free literature and condoms to all school kids in the district, K-12?  And by the way, parents cannot opt out their kids.  (If you're not a wise and/or omniscient teacher, never mind, your answers tend to ramble, and not make sense).  Notice:  This is an educational post, not a political post.

Last year, I strained an abdominal muscle and when it wasn't getting better, I called my doctor for an appointment just to make sure it wasn't a hernia or tear.  My female doctor was out that day, so I was seen by a male doctor that was new to the staff.  When he walked in, I could not stop myself from saying "Dogie Howser".  Honestly, he looked to be 15 years old, and really cute.  He actually smiled and said that he got that a lot.  He was 29, married and seemed to be quite good.

I had a cataract removed a year and a half ago and I can hardly wait until the other one gets done.  It was a miracle.

Kathleen, my podiatrist is Robert Angelier, a foot and ankle specialist.  He has a Garland office (where I go), but I believe he has an office close to Baylor also.  I have been going to him for 6-7 years and really like him.

To all Golden Debs...I am desperately seaching for a copy of the "Rules" that we were required to memorize and recite each year for Miss Thomas...we also signed to abide by them.  I can remember quite a bit of it, but would love to have an actual copy.  If you have, or know someone who has this "treasure trove" please contact me! I'm asking on behalf of a number of Debs who are wanting to capture this memory and seem to have lost the full content...although we all had it embedded in our brains in our youth!

We saw the musical, HairSpray..last night.. Their hair/ wigs were teased up so high..We didn't wear ours that high... It was very funny. Tracy Turnblatt's mother was played by a man... a Jewish man, at that.. It was at the new Playhouse On The Square...Nice building, but we nearly froze..! There were several 'beefy' women in that musical...!

Beefy, brawling female doctors? Now you have my attention! And that explains a lot about Doc Proc also.

Women swooned over the ortho I worked for.  He looked like Troy Aikman so if you like that look, he was the guy.  However, I knew his personality.  At that time there were two women orthopedists in Dallas, either one of whom could have whupped most men in a one-on-one brawl.

Most of my personal docs are female...........THEY get it!!  haaa  However, my orthos are all male.......I think it is because the orthos ONLY do one thing...shoulders, knees, hips...etc etc.  My female docs address MANY issues.........Has anyone heard of the VIP-MED group yet?  This is a group of docs going together to form a network US wide of docs.  You PAY to belong to this country club doc group............that way they only have about 600 patients but make the same $ because you PAY to be in their group.  I think this will be the new trend....sigh!

It is raining in Houston.......but the humidity is 100% so don't be jealous Dallas!

Lynelle, I have never selected a doctor on looks, but Dr Kazewych (correct spelling) is both excellent and easy on the eyes...there is absolutely nothing wrong with that...and his is so gentle when he takes your hands and asks you to stand on that fracture that you just melt...oh, my forget the fracture! I heard some women in Southlake were thinking about breaking bones just so they could spend time with him!

My current gynecologist looks like Martin Short, aka Ed Grimley.  He's nice and quick and doesn't seem to be an idiot.  It is, however, troublesome when he calls with my lab reports and starts out with, "I'm pleased as pleased can be -- "

My position on doctors is I want them to look like they graduated near the top of their class in medical school.  I took waaaayy too many malpractice depositions to select by appearance.  I also check out the State of Texas medical board website.

Barry, somebody mentions good looking doctor and they all disappear like teenagers lining up for tickets to a Frankie Avalon show.  This could be a great time to make some intelligent political posts.  There's nobody around to challenge you if you point out.........let's see, oh, how about the audacity of the federal government who says it's going to issue another drilling moratorium, just because some ole judge struck down the last one.  Or, how about the Washington rumor that O is going to declare amnesty for all illegals with an executive order.  It's like they forget that the judicial branch even exists.  Get your responses in quick, folks before the surgical dvds end!

Don't pay any attention to what they say.  I probably agree with you about 99% of the time.  McChrystal was dumb to allow any interviews, but I didn't read about anything that was said that is not true.  I can't understand how anyone could put their life on the line for the current administration.  Talk about a bunch of idiots.  I did not watch Johnny's knee video, since I have had enough scalpels cutting on me.  I don't need to watch someone else's.
I forget who asked, but Joan is doing well.  Went to doctor last Friday and the broken bones have not moved.  We go back on 7/9 and if they still have not moved, they will put a shorter, more permanent, cast on her arm and she will be able to "fish".  She went to the store on Tuesday, her first day out.  The only vehicle we have that is an automatic is my truck and, according to her, "It's so BIG!".  I guess there is a little difference between a Mini Cooper S and a 3/4 ton diesel truck.  I do have pictures of the broken bone x-rays that I could post, but I think not.

Physical therapy, surgeons, operations, knee replacement, orthopedists, dislocated shoulder, canes, designer canes, cataract surgery, sprained ankles, eyes rolling (wait, that was yesterday).  I don't think we're in Kansas anymore Toto!  It must be Sunday, 3-6 pm, "downer" time.  Hey Johnny, how about "live video feed of classmate medical procedures" as a new category of discussion?

Actually, Lynelle, there is an ortho doctor by the name of Mark Greenberg who is well known in this area.  Frankly, after meeting Orhopedic Dr. Kazowitz recently, I would recommend him...for obvious reasons...good doctor and very easy on the eyes!

Martha, so sorry to read that you're not 20/20 in that eye yet.   Hang in there.  It'll get better.

Kathleen, you might try Dr. Robert Greenberg on Garland Road.  I don't know him personally, but he's been around a long time and I never heard anything bad about him.  Good luck with that ankle. Ouch!

Martha, hang in there your eye will get better. My husband had both eyes done and has had amazing results. For the first time in his life, he has 20/20 vision. When he first had the surgery, he was amazed at how clear and bright everything was. Now, can anyone recommend a doctor who could look at my sprained ankle?

Ginger there are some canes that are works of art available.  Also canes with secret storage and don't forget Bat Masterson style with gun or was it a knife?

Not as excited as I had hoped to be by this time with my Restore Lense cataract surgery.  Seems an enourmous floater is in that eye making everything a blur and I am having the other one done next Monday.  Looks like no golf for me for a while.   Should have put this off until winter.  They tell you that you will be back to normal activities in no time.

Lynell, I don't think my orthopedic doctor is very..big..! Mine is a 'whole clinic'  of
a gazillion doctors..My doctor  may not do the 'actual' surgery.. I'm going to the same clinic for physical therapy, so maybe the orthopedic surgeons..are large..? Now you've got my 'curiosity' up.... I'm getting an order for a cane again, tomorrow.. I had one in Austin, after a fall and I gave it to my sister...Now, I need another one..I'm not giving this one away, even if my back gets better, for a while..!

That's an interesting link about knee replacement. I must be a great surgeon because I closed that incision with only 6 or 7 staples. haa. Dru's doctor used a lot more. Maybe Doctor Proctor will put me on his staff.

Ever wonder why you don't see dainty orthopedists?  It's because the work is so darned heavy duty. There's plenty of lifting and pulling and shifting around during surgery. I worked for orthos for ten years and saw some amazing things. About the most difficult office procedure was to reduce a dislocated shoulder.  Gives me the heebie jeebies to think about it.
