Comments: received message from Pamela Kaumeyer.......... The family of Dennis Stephens needs our prayers. It is a hard time for his family as his dementia has progressed to the point he has been placed in assisted living. Pamela knows prayers work and pray that prayers will lead to peace at this difficult time........ I am just getting sadder and sadder to hear of so many of our classmates.
Comments: I hate to hear that about Tommy. I've known him longer than anyone else I went to school with. His parents and mine moved into an "apartment " complex about the same time when were were about 3 years old. Our folks called the place "The Projects". Tommy and I were outside playing one day and he hit me in the head with a metal trash can lid. I still have a scar from then encounter. Prayers said for him and his family.
Comments: I just received a text from Barbara Florence Herrington.... Some sad news. Tommy Daniel is very ill and on hospice. He has fibrosis of the lungs complicated by heart disease. Kay (ex wife mother of his 2 daughters) said he was declining fast. Please pray for him and his family during this very difficult time.
Comments: Mike Peters, so nice to hear from you! You can be our official cold weather consultant if you want the job. So many who lived in NYC have moved to Florida. I know you’re not in the Big Apple though. We were plenty miserable in Dalias at 2°. Be glad you missed that!
Comments: Hope everyone is safe and that power has been restored. ERCOT is poorly managed and was not prepared for the Winter Hit. They are prepared for the Summer power requirements but they apparently have no clue for managing the sudden Winter requirements. Their CEO is a lawyer with very little experience managing a power grid. The demand overwhelmed their suppliers or they way they manage their suppliers. Good Luck Everyone. At least warmer weather is on the way. In NY we stay very cold until March. Only one day above freezing since December
Comments: The Arctic? Noooooo! Just Texas enduring a 100 year event. It is cold here in Austin County and will be until Saturday. Then next week? .....in the 70s. Hope all you SOCites in Texas are staying warm And have no broken pipes. Stay safe.
Comments: We have been incredibly fortunate with this weird, wacky icy cold spell. However, this house was not built for arctic weather. We were happy to see cold water pipes and one potty thaw out today. So far, no spewing water from the wall! Everyone please stay safe and as warm as possible. This, too, shall pass.
Comments: WOW! It is COLD, COLD, COLD here in the MetroMess this morning. My little weather unit says 6 degrees on my covered patio! And, we apparently have rolling blackouts from the electric grid hitting in some areas. Probably the "kiss of death" to say they haven't affected us so far. Stay warm SOCites and if you must get out in this, please be safe as well.

Comments: Yessir, Bill. My take exactly. Some flipper must have figured out that we grew up ten minutes from downtown. 75216 is the new Highland Park. That amuses me to no end.
Comments: Barry. Wife just finished chemo and had most of the typical side effects. She just finished her 5th radiation treatment, 15 more to go. I feel for anyone that has, will or currently is going through this. Much success with the treatment outcome. Lynell, think I will take a rain check on thinking about moving back into the "hood". Life is good in the Caddo Lake Swamp. But I did take a peek at the zip you mentioned and yes, shocked. Comments: I'm sad to report that Alvin Jay from the SOC class of 63 went to be with the Lord yesterday. Alvin's wife of 56 years is Sandra Moore Jay from the SOC class of 64. Please pray for Sandy and all of Al's loved ones.
Comments: Barry, I’m sorry to hear about the chemo woes. Hope you feel great again soon. Yeah, I grew up in that ritzy stretch between the Frios. Ha. The house actually looks better than when we lived there. These people can afford to water the grass. It‘s kinda shocking to see the flipped houses in the old ‘hood though. Just Google real estate for sale 75216. You might want to buy that house where you grew up.
Comments: Lynelle: You must be speaking of housing prices on your side of the tracks. I lived in the poor side of town, Fruitdale, an things are still pretty depressed.
Comments: As Southworth reported, I am undergoing chemo. Fourth round on the 19th. I have lost my hair and don’t need to shave. It’s really Quick and easy to wash and dry my hair! I’ll not more about the prognosis next week. I love spending time on the ‘63 site.

Comments: It is a sad reminder of our own mortality when we lose those friends our age. Ike and Jack were special people. Both sweet guys and friends. With a blush I confess Jack Crowley was my first full blown crush. Rest In Peace my friends..
Comments: Thanks, John, for the links to Ike's and Jack's obituaries. I considered both of these guys to be friends. To add a historical footnote: After high school, Jack introduced Mr Ken Haas to one of his girlfriend's (Candy Florence) friends, Miss Beverly Duvall. The rest is history.

Comments: Barbara Florence posted on facebook today........ Sad news this morning, Jack Cowley passed away in his sleep peacefully Sunday, January 24, 2021. Jack graduated in 1963 and is survived by six daughters. There are many grandchildren and great grandchildren. He will be missed by his family and friends. At this time, plans for a memorial service are pending. I am so deeply saddened to hear of Jack's passing. I really enjoyed some long conversations with him a few years ago. He will be missed.
Comments: Gosh, I need to check in more often. I am saddened to learn of the recent deaths of our three classmates. I remember how funny Ikey was. Your story , Ken, is hilarious. What good memories we have growing up at the best time ever. Mike, thank you for the video. It’ caused a lump in my throat too. We are very fortunate generation to have lived in such a simple era. My husband and I will have our second vaccine February 3. And as Bill. said , it will be a huge relief and a sort of release. My eye doc said today that there is small evidence of herd immunity now. I pray he is correct. I hope all reading this is safe and well❣️

Comments: I don’t know any of the particulars, but I learned today that another beloved classmate, Jack Cowley, has passed away. What a sad year this is.
Comments: Once upon a time, when dinosaurs roamed the earth, I was the pitcher in a Zumwalt Jr High baseball game, Ike was the catcher. With a full count on the batter, my catcher gave me the sign (one finger) for a fastball. Except on this particular occasion Ike decided that instead of the normal pointer finger signal he would use his middle finger. Result? I was laughing so hard I threw a wild pitch and walked the batter. Folks, that was 62 years ago and I remember it like it was yesterday. Charles Ike Walker was a great guy with an great laugh. God Bless him and his family.
Comments: It is with great sadness that I am letting our class know, Ike Walker passed away on January 19, 2021. He died of COVID pneumonia. His wife died 1 year, 4 months ago. Donna, Keith Fitzpartrick's wife called me Sunday to let me know. Ike started feeling bad January 8th and thought he had a sinus infection. His daughter had to take him to the hospital the next Tuesday as his became much sicker. The Fitzpatricks and Walkers had been friends for many years and double dated before they even got married. We will miss our Ikey!!!!!
Comments: I knew Lana Sisemore and she was from our class. Her brother, Victor and my husband, Bill Walker were from the class of 60 and ran around together.
