Comments: Good grief! The typos!! The grass...sigh. I need to learn to proofread for goodness sake!
Comments: Horses are not happy because they do not get to go out in the rain or when it is too wet. These are not pasture horses. There grass is green alright and over growing the wildflowers. This rain in s V preventing haying also. The cows and donkeys are happy and get clean ha ha Yep, this would not be a good year for our former owner’s cotton.
Comments: Charlotte, that is a lot of rain! My grandparents grew cotton like the early owners of your land. A rain like that meant no crops that year. I don’t know how they survived. I’ll bet your cows and horses are loving that green grass!
Comments: We’ve had over 30” at the ranch. That’s a whole summers worth of rain in 3 weeks. But, draught and Fire season has started in Colorado.
Comments: No, my ark isn't finished yet. ![]()
Comments: Has everyone had enough rain?
Comments: Very true, Lynell. They both have great children and lots of grands. However, no one can fill that hole in your being after losing a spouse. Yes, memories do help. They both had wonderful marriages filled with great memories!
Comments: Thank you, Peaches. Sherrie and Chere Houck lost the love of their lives recently. My heart breaks for both. I pray that God will comfort them and bring back a lifetime of precious memories.
Comments: Lynell, Sherrie is doing as well as could be. They had a very special long time relationship. The two never dated another person. Johnny was a really great husband, father, grandfather and just all around great guy. Losing a spouse is so painful. I know! He was surrounded by his family till the end.

Comments: Peaches, is precious Sherrie okay? i can’t imagine what she’s going through.
Comments: I just got off the phone with Sherrie Latham Feris. I just love her. As I said before she and Johnny were the cutest couple and friends of ours. Great memories with them. She would have been married 55 years this August and they had been together for 60 years. Johnny was in good health until he was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in January. Sherrie said he played golf the next day. They had already planned to move to San Antonio to be near one of their daughters. In February they started the move. Sherrie said she even drove in the ice storm (I could never do that). They had 2 boys and 2 girls and have 7 grandchildren.

Comments: I’m sorry to hear about Johnny Faris. He was a nice guy, married sweet Sherrie Latham. I likely spelled her name wrong.
Comments: Here’s Wanda’s service, assuming the link works. My first grade pal. https://www.facebook.com/100000622928887/posts/4334961543201234/
Comments: Sorry to hear of all the passing of our classmates. But it’s good to see that we have a lot of old folks left. Do any of you know what might be going on with Kerry Honeycutt jimmy coward or kennth beachum Was just wondering.
Comments: Here is the link to the obituary for John Faris. He covered a lot ground in his years on Mother Earth. John Winn Faris Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information (restlandfuneralhome.com)
Comments: Oh, I hate to hear this about Johnny Faris. He, Sherry, Bill (my husband) and I went to Senior Activities together. Sherry and I were roommates out of high school until she and Johnny got married. They were the cutest couple! Thanks for letting us know.
Comments: Lynell and group, you have been so kind to notify our class whenever one of our own dies and we appreciate it. I received an email from Willie Grant (SOC 62) that his cousin Johnny Faris had died and I believe Johnny was in your class. Great kid.
Comments: You're likely correct Barry. I could not remember the coaches' names but that saying sorta stuck with me over the year. Thanks for clarifying.
Comments: Hey Don, good to hear from your, but 1963 was 58 years ago.
Comments: Currently living on the central coast of CA. Beautiful location, wonderful weather, however it is in CA!!!! Being retired, the COVID situation didn't change life too much personally. Do look forward to feeling safer to travel give big hugs to friends. It is hard to believe that in a few years our graduation was 40 years ago. Look forward to seeing what 2023 brings us.-Don
Comments: "Gosh dang. Hit a lick" must have been Coach Malone. Coach Hodge was more to the point!
Comments: Sharon, I cannot fathom how difficult this must be for you and Steve. I’m glad you got to visit in person. It sounds like he’s doing pretty well For several months David visited Lynell’s Backyard Tonsorial Parlor, a one-star salon. (I’m being generous.)
Comments: I got to visit with Steve at the nursing home yesterday for the first time in a year. He's looking better than the last time I saw him since he has gained some weight back. But he looks like an old hippie because his hair has gotten so long! Hopefully now that the restrictions have been loosened, the place can get a barber in there.
Comments: Barry and Lynell ... thanks for sharing that pic of the 1958 Zumwalt football team. So many familiar faces ... several of which are no longer with us. The pic is even more special in that you have the names of all the guys. Got anymore "treasures" from that era?
Comments: My treasure trove consists of that one photo. My parents did take some 8mm movies of games. Look like a bunch of ants. 8mm cameras had not discovered “zoom”.
Comments: I'd watch their practices frequently and I seem to remember hearing, "Gosh Dang, Hit a Lick" from the Coach. Great memories.
Comments: https://lynell.smugmug.com/Zumwalt/ From Barry’s treasure trove of sports photos. Just click the link to see the mighty Lions of Zumwalt.
Comments: Barry, another thought: if you’ll email the picture to me, I’ll put it on my smugmug site where the SOC pictures are stashed, and link the picture that way. Thanks. |
