Yep, Peaches...these days, every day I wake up and can GET up is a beautiful day,...thankfully we have heaters, air conditioning and windows to open or insulate. Hot is 100% humidity and 90 degrees so don't tell us people down by the gulf coast your sad stories of hot or cold for that matter. Humidity and cold is BONE chilling. I've lived in other climates and wouldn't want to live anywhere else but where I am now. I love Texas, weather, mosquitoes and all. We are fortunate to be in this wonderful state where people are moving in by the 1000s to have a better life and jobs. Houston and Dallas are among the most desirable cities to move to at the moment...I think both are on the top 5. Okay, stepping down from the soap box now.

Austin, Tx was so hot in August, I suggested they might close the city down,  and evacuate until October...
Global warming does cause heavier winters...and Mike and others...we have messed up the environment...
I want that rainy 'front', back, that would roll through Waco and Central Texas every weekend... More rain is definitely needed.. And 'who' wants to live in Detroit or Chicago...or Florida, for that matter..?? I heard someone say that 'middle easterners/ Arabs'...own part of the Detroit area...? You-all ever heard that..?

C'mon...if you don't like the weather in Texas, wait a minute!!!!!! You know the saying...it's true and always has been....doesn't anyone remember the drought in the 50's when we had to go get our drinking water? We are not causing any changes....yes, we could be better about taking care of our environment i.e., recycling everything and being conservative of our water tables, but people...we are not in control of the weather..ask the east coast and Atlanta folks about "global warming" and see what they have to say about it. LOL!! We have seasons here. They are just different from different parts of the country....our fall color happens in Dec and our summer is 5 months long. So? We all know it and should just "wait a minute". What if you were in the Panhandle?? Whoa!! I like the change...soon some of us will be wishing for some cool weather. Just sayin!!!

Back in the 17, & 1800's, we came over from europe into New England, New York, Boston etc. We brought over slaves from Africa & sent them to Florida, Georgia, Louisiana and Jamaica,  & what is now the U.S. Virgin Islands. Now, we save to go on vacation where they live. What a bunch of dumb asses we were! Why didn't we move there & send them to Detroit, Chicago, etc. And you wonder why we screw up the environment--making money is more important than protecting our home--Mike

RE: weather.   My next door neighbor has the solution. He is 83 yrs old and has been a foundry pattern maker and machinist and inventor all his life. He still works in his shop every day. His idea is to build a pipeline between January and July, and moderate the weather on both ends. Brilliant !!!

I couldn't agree with Phyllis more we have messed up the environment.  The news usually never mentions this and pretends everything is normal.  I wish this country would be more like European countries (especially Germany) who are making changes to improve the environment.

Yes, we desperately need rain.  My brother lives in East Tawakoni and he has been able to drive his golf cart across what should be the cove where his house sits.  Beautiful lake house overlooking what appears to be a desert.  Been like this since early last summer.  Let's pray for a rainy Spring.

I have to respectfully disagree, Ginger.  Considering how hot it gets here in the summer, it gets entirely too cold in winter, and vice-versa.  A more temperate and moderate climate would be much appreciated.  That being said, it could be much worse.  We could be freezing our tails off with my kin up in Michigan, Minnesota and North Dakota.  My niece in Detroit -- who's young and tough -- is a letter carrier who normally thrives in inclement weather, but even she is suffering this year.  We have really messed up the environment!

I like Winter..! Texas doesn't have enough winter.. Especially North and Central Texas.. More than that...Texas doesn't have enough rain..Never enough rain.. I remember the 2 yrs I spent at Baylor...63-65. we carried our umbrellas to class on Mondays.. It would 'Rain'... A front would move through every weekend.. Now...there's not enough rain..!  No rain and this 'up and down' weather makes for more pollen and ups the problems with 'Mold' in Texas..
Texas first needs more rain and then you need a consistent winter...  Somebody on FB has termed Texas' weather as 'BiPolar weather'... Well, yeah.. People would have less illness if the weather was consistent in Texas and I don't mean 'hot' either.. One lady, here in Central Texas, termed the problem...Texas is returning to the Desert..! Gee, I hope not..

Sharon, Did you see the four year old lithe boy who was shoveling snow and took time out long enough to shout at the heavens "Jesus make it warm."  I couldn't agree with him more.

I'm wondering the same thing, Peaches.  I have watched about 20 minutes of the Olympics since it started.  Just some ice dancing, which was really pretty.  I'm ready for some warm weather.  I don't mind the rain, since we really need it, but I want warm rain.  The bout I had with the flu left me with absolutely no energy, so I need warm weather to pep me up.

Kathleen, I'm going to miss Jay Leno so much!  We always get into bed by 10:30 & catch his monologue.  I think NBC is so crazy as they keep trying to get rid of the #1 late night talk show host!  Conan bombed last time & Jay came back and saved them.  I've watched Jimmy Fallen a lot and I believe he will do the show proud.  He is multitalented and is really funny.  Jay has been so gracious and so has Jimmy.  Wish them both the best and hope I'm still a Tonight Show fan 6 months from now.

Hope all of you are keeping warm.  I don't think the weather people  expected this much snow.  This is the last night of the Jay Leno Show.  He is being replaced because NBC wants to attract a younger audience and Jay is too old.  He is 63.  I am sure going to miss him.

The celebration of Dan Rose's life yesterday was remarkable. I knew he was a great teacher, husband, father and father-in-law and Christian man  but WOW all the other people whose lives he touched........what a tribute!!!!!! What a caring, unselfish remarkable man Dan was and Shirley (his wife)  still is!!!!!!! I am so glad I was there to learn so much more about who Dan Rose was. He indeed has a legacy. So many lives touched by the man who chose to use his talents and his winning ways to make a difference. Ed Artmann, Pat Fowler and Sam Pugh were also there. Great seeing them again.

I've figured out that ripening ain't for wimps! Danny, hang in there, bud. David's cousin had Bell's palsy from out of nowhere. It went away in a few weeks, as yours will also.
Don't believe I ever broke any hearts along my romantic trail.
