Comments: I didn't go to Lisbon...I heard many stories from Barney...I went to Elisha M Pease...what a name!! But I remember the square dancing...so much fun..my group had Tommy Willis..Wayne Barnham..Steve Crowell..and I had the biggest crush on John Farris...he is still married to Sherry Latham...Barney and I saw them one year at the State Fair...they look just the same!!
Comments: I remember one memorable day at Lisbon in the sencond grade. The entire class was held after school. We had done something that day that I don't even remember now. We only stayed for 15 minutes or so. THat momment 60 years ago scared me so much I never had another detention, paddling, write up or any disaplinary problem through out my school years. The only wild thing I did was going to Kiest park during our graduation parties and srinking my 1st beer. I know, I've lived a shealtered live!!!! bYE EVERYONE
Comments: ROCKY????
Comments: Charlotte and Brenda, we loved our Lisbon boys! Barney, Mike, Gary, Kenneth, Keith, Eddie and others my feeble brain remembers but has forgotten the names of. Buddy, Jackie, Altus (my busriding first love) and so many others. Boys were a scary world for one who grew up with mother and two aunts and no brothers. They were nice kids, a mystery, so funny and cute.
Comments: I loved that Barney Boy....he could light up a room. I just got an email inviting me to "Lonely Cheating wives" hmmm! How did they know???
Comments: Brenda, I know you miss your sweetheart. I remember Barney so well from Lisbon. He was always BMOC on Valentine's Day because it was his birthday. You know he was no shy flower! And in the film room? OMG, the noises he would make. The teacher would flip the light on and there would be Mr. Innocent, batting his big blue headlights.
Comments: Yes Lynnell...Valentines Day is Barneys birthday...miss him every day but he is really on my mind today. He made every holiday so special..Thank you for remembering
Comments: Brenda, wasn't Barney born on Valentine's Day? I seem to recall his telling us Lisbon kids he should get an extra card. You and S or B are special people.
Comments: Tongue-tied... Nah..! Not a SOCite.. Happy Valentine's Day...! Many Chocolate Yummies to you..!
Comments: HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY
Comments: so why are y'all not talking.
Comments: Peaches, that's the first time anyone ever told me to start talking! I'm making a note of this date.
Comments: no date. Will try to have in October as we always do.
Comments: October 4th and 5th is the Adamson Reunion...
Comments: We need a subject....to converse about.. I know I'm not spending all that time listening to the State of the Union...or the commentaries..afterwards. We've been hearing for a week, ' what' will be said and 'who' will comment. It's like watching the previews for a show for a week, a month, and you're so tired of it by the time it comes out, you might not watch the show itself. I like the President and I'm sure I will hear enough about it for the rest of the week.. If he says anything 'surprising' or 'astounding', we'll hear about that too.. I have 6 library books, most FBI Thriller 'type'. I have a David Baldacci and a Vince Flynn and several more. I get enough coverage on Washington in those. It may be mostly 'fictional', but it will probably keep my attention longer... Have a nice Tuesday Evening..whatever you do...!
Comments: Peaches, do you have a date for the reunion?
Comments: Start talking again, please.
Comments: I have answered David's Mitchell's email regarding our 50th Reunion. Yes, we will have a 50th Reunion. It has been very difficult for me to think about this one since I lost 3 of my best friends in 2012. But I am healing a little and will get it going. Please, please email if you have any changes to your address or phone number since our 45 Reunion and 65th birthday party. That will help. I will post some time in the near future (probably in March). Your comittee will be getting together early March.
Comments: Brenda, I haven't seen her either, but would like to. Lynell, those ice cream Sandwiches were sooo good after a hard day of being dunked numerous times by those....uh....BOYS!! My Daddy was usually on those bleachers watching...unless.... I said I was going with Ouida and that her Dad would be there....NOT!!! OKAY...I was known to fib once in a while.
Comments: Charlotte I have not seen or talked to Karen since our school days...anyone know anything about her?
Comments: Sharon,My son lives in Rockwall. He is the most dedicated fisherman I know. He heard that the city puts trout in the parks each winter. Glendale park As scouts we use to camp out there.I use to love the high dive. When we lived on Scottsboro in highschool we belonged to Singing Hills golf club. I played with my dad until one day I drove 5 balls off to the right and into the creek on the 1st tee. My golfing days were over. I still liked the miniture golf and had fun with dad at the driving ranges in Estes Park Colorado. you still see the elk walking amoung the golfers on the 9 hole course there. I do like Colorado!
Comments: My mother feared her only child would dissolve in water, so I didn't go to Glendale until I was a rebellious 13 or so. Valerie Adamson and I took Red Cross swimming lessons that summer. I was the tallest one of the entire group. I remember putting my face in the water, arms straight out in front, and kicking all the way across the pool. It seemed very wide at the time. I didn't dissolve. I also remember the ice cream vending machine with wonderful ice cream sandwiches, then it was onto the Ramona bus and back home for me.
Comments: I only went to Kidd Springs a couple of times while in high school. It seemed too far away or something. Before I moved to Oak Cliff in 1956, I lived in East Dallas and we used to picnic at White Rock all the time. Those really were innocent times. We didn't have to worry about drive-bys. I heard that in March the Houston School Viaduct will be shut down so a trolley line can be built to Oak Cliff. Now why didn't they keep the one that ran back in the 50's and 60's. You could get on it downtown and ride it to Burnett Field, the end of the line. Dan, I haven't been trout fishing in 30 years, but that sounds like fun. Does your son live in that area?
Comments: I loved Glendale Swimming Pool. We all went there...many, many times.. Quite frequently with Sara, Gaylan, Charlotte, Ouida...etc. etc... I have skinny feet, with long toes... Charlotte told me once, laughingly so, that my toes looked like fingers.! I'll always remember that...until my mind finally goes. I do have skinny toes..I don't know if...they look like fingers...however. I can remember Johnny Maddox and Henry Coomes and assorted other guys, picking us up and tossing us 'back in the water'.. We would occasionally walk from the SOC area to Glendale..
Comments: My youngest son Randy is a fisherman. He just fished Kidd Springs . It is stocked with trout this time of year .He brought home 5. Good luck anglers!
Comments: Brenda, do you know where Karen King is now?
Comments: Sat behind Karen in first grade (King, Garrett) and always envied her curly hair. I'm sure the boys were smitten with you two cuties at Glendale Pool.
Comments: Noticed the sign in front of the DQ in Duncanville that they are now making Orange Julius. Haven't tried it yet. Just can be as good as the original.
Comments: You have all helped bring back some wonderful memories...my favorite was Glendale Swimming Pool..mainly because that is where I first met Barney..Karen King and I walked to the pool and met Barney and Gary ....spent the afternoon with them...and who could forget Arthur's...the gravy and seems everything was good!!!
Comments: Ah, Wee St. Andrews. I loved it, especially at night with the little Christmas tree lights. We live within walking distance of the former site and frequently think about it in passing. I was wondering about Orange Julius recently and Googled it. It appeared that they still exist in New Mexico. |
