Just wanted to remind everyone that the Class of '62 50th Reunion is Friday evening and Saturday.  We would love to have the Class of '63 visit and be with us on either night or both nights.  Friday night starts at 6:00 pm at the Omni Park West with a 4 hour mixer and DJ and we have a hospitality room also both both nights.  Saturday luncheon even has a live band...Curb Service.  Cost is just $75.00 and you can register at the door.....or table as it will be.  Come on by and see what the old folks do for fun, you will be glad you did.

Hi, Donna,

So nice to see you on here!  I remember you very well -- blonde, slightly wavy hair (which I envied) and you were a very nice girl!  I'm sorry to hear of your ills over the years, but I suppose we have all had a few of those.

Please continue to post on here.

Lynell

Helllo, everyone,
I am at last getting some courage to venture into the world of cyberspace!  I have only used my computer for games and Ancestry.com in the past few years, but my daughter told me to go on the Guestbook and see where it leads.
I graduated in 1963 with most of you.  I started at Elisha M. Pease, went to Sarah Zumwalt, then to SOC.  We lived three blocks south of the Veteran's Hospital, on Veteran's Drive.  (Our old house is now a church!)  My Daddy was Gordon G. Gwin, a barber, who worked in a shop at Polk and Camp Wisdom.  My Mother, Elizabeth Gwin, worked at K. & M. Cookie Company, until they closed in 1966.  Daddy died in August of 1964, just months after my Brother, Jerry Gwin graduated in June of 1964.  Daddy was 63 years old.  Mother died September 28, 2008 in Tyler, Texas at the age of 93.  She was such a lovely lady, petite, with silver hair.  They are buried at Laurel Land Cemetery, along with Mother's parents.
Mother was diagnosed with end stage Alhsheimer Disease in July, 2008, and she did not know us at all.  Such a terrible, frightening disease that robs your loved ones of their dignity and their very essence.
I have been married to my wonderful husband, Hughie M. Libhart, since December of 1967 and we have a daughter, born in 1969.  We live in Dawson, Texas, just west of Corsicana, Texas, on Highway 31, going toward Waco.
I was saddened to hear of all the health issues facing some of you,  and please know you all are in our prayers.  Prayer is of some comfort, as Hughie had 5-bypass surgery in October of 2002 at Baylor in Dallas.  It was supposed to be a routine surgery, in and out in a week.  Instead, we were there 29 days.   If it could go wrong, it did.  When your Doctor comes walking down the hall shaking his head, you just collapse!  I made him talk to me very plainly and he told me Hughie was going back into surgery.  They had found an artery they had nicked with the wires they used to restart his heart and the blood was flooding around his heart.  They went back two times, and kept him sedated for 2 weeks.  When he finally came to himself, he said,"Hi, y'all, I'm hungry!"  We had a prayer chain from Waco to San Diego and Seattle to Indiana, but the sweetest paryer was from our little great neice, who sent Uncle Noonie an angel to put on his pillow.  She said that God was good and He would take care of her Uncle Noonie.  So keep your prayers going out for your loved ones.  God always keeps His promises and He never lies!
In Love and frienship,
Donna Gwin Libhart

Handicap Parking at the Texas State Fair has been 1/2 block from the "Automobile Building". You have EZ access to your Motorcycle or Car!!

Will be Praying for Mary & her family.
Praying for our SOC friends has been a pleasure in many cases. Some are sad cases. I hide a lot of my feelings. Some things in our lives don't always end up the way we want.
With me, I never saw it coming.
I am an "Over Comer" & so are all of YOU. This is one of the many great reasons we SOCites all stick together. Thank You All!!

Hope you guys are enjoying the rain today!  I don't know how many of you know about the SOC Prayer room.  There are about eighty people who post and they pray for each other.  If  any of you need to have a prayer said for you, or your family, you might ask them to pray for you.  You could also pray for some of the people who are requesting prayer on the prayer line.   Have a good day!

Thank you Larry for the update on Mary..we all love her and will have her and the family in our prayers.  My husband had Hospice care at the end of his cancer battle and they were wonderful and so much help to what could have been alot more difficult..

this is from facebook. Larry McCord posted
As others have posted, my sister Mary has decided to begin hospice care and refuse further treatment. This has certainly not been an easy choice, but the time comes when an individual must make such decisions and those who love them must support them as they do. Thanks for all of your continued prayers and support. Pray for her son, Kent, who is staying with her for the duration, and her daughter, Kari, who has been so faithful to care for her from the beginning. And, of course, her grandchildren whom she loves and enjoys so much.

p.s. With regard to my sister: The saying goes, "It ain't over 'til the fat lady sings". Well, I'm her accompanist, so until I take the stage, she ain't singin' a note!!!

I caught the last 10 minutes of DWTS and saw Emmett, who is now in 1st place.  He still has the moves.  I darted between The Voice, DWTS, Monday Night Football and the Rangers until my head was spinning.  One of these days I'm going to have to learn how to use all the gadgets on my TV.

Well, the anon is a coward for not posting her or his name while saying something so ignorant.  If you post it OWN IT !!!  I suppose we can't expect everyone to be intelligent enough to "think before one posts".  But I say if that person does it again they should be blocked for about 6 mos....or until AFTER the election...LOL!!!

Good point about everyone takes all the deductions allowed by the IRS.....such a simple thought and maybe it will be a "conversation stopper" on the subject.

Is anyone who reads here going to the '62 Reunion?  If so...let us know and take photos!!

Charlotte, this software identifies the computer and location of posters and, yes, it will block people.  That's what's so great about it.  However, the "Rachel" anon does post something worthwhile now and then.

Jack Hawkins, I know we do. We take every deduction that's allowed.  I think most people do.

I don't want to get in trouble or start any trouble, but I have heard people say this "fair share" statement before. What I can't get anybody to tell me is what is a fair share?  Might as well push my luck and ask another question. Is there anyone out there who doesn't take every deduction the IRS offers?

Baloney like this led to the demise of prior guestbooks.  Anons are not welcome. For that we have bathroom walls. Trust me on this one: I know who the Rachel Maddow poster is and will keep it to myself unless it continues.

Ginger, be careful at that DAR house.  They're liable to put you to work!  Plus, they always have nifty things to raffle off for charity.  It's an interesting place to visit, for sure.

The bird show is worth it, too.  There are a few seats on the lower left (as you enter from the back) that have a little shade.  I got sunburned out there last year .

David and I always hit the Greek place inside the food court for a Greek salad -- slightly healthier than fried buttered bacon, or whatever the rage is.  It's a great area for people watching.

The fair is cleaner and safer feeling than it used to be!  I remember it was pretty yucky for many years.

If you go to the fair this year check out the crafts building, Jana Milham and I have crafts on display. My girlfriend and I go every year, last year we decided we are getting up there to go all day. Really do enjoy it. Not as much fun when you out grow the midway.

Okay...Missy Lynell. The OC Boomer date is Thursday, October 11. What luck..! (or maybe Danny Smith planned it that way..?? for all us 'old people'..)
And I can just 'whip out' my DAR card or my national number at the DAR house... Good to know..!

The State Fair lets seniors in free on either Wednesday or Thursday, so you might want to check the internet.  Bottled water and canned drinks have always been $1 at the DAR house near the Marine band performance area.  It's about $4 from the Fair vendors.
