Comments: I'm sure we're having a 50th, but Peaches has so much on her plate that we haven't had time to discuss it. My former husband and I lived in Paris from 1973 - 79 and he taught English and Journalism at the Junior College. It really was a nice place. I drove through it about 20 years ago and couldn't believe how much it had grown. We used to fish Pat Mayse most weekends. Is the Campbell Soup plant still there?
Comments: Well, Kathleen filled me in...Dan. She said she saw you at one of the reunions.. I would have to see an annual to remember you from way back 'when'... Kathleen said you have a ranch...somewhere out there.. Kathleen's still working on this 'kidney transplant' problem..I found out 16 yrs ago, that they wouldn't use my kidneys for transplants because I'm Diabetic. Mine are already at risk from the Diabetes... I hope Kathleen's health improves... Ginger Hearn
Comments: Paris is a nice town. Not much in entertainment. Got to go to the metroplex for museums, musicals and such. We do have the best catfish resturant in Texas "The Fish Fry" . Everyone who comes up has to go there. There is a casino about 15 miles north of here in Oklahoma. They have a good buffet. I'm in the country and loving it. I haven't heard of any planning for the 50th. Are we still on??
Comments: Dan, sounds like you have a nice place near Paris. My husband and I have bought several cars from Toyota of Paris over the years. I was up there kicking tires just a few weeks ago, then I got back into my '97 4Runner and drove home. The Baucums are nice people -- just couldn't make up my feeble mind.
Comments: Sorry Ginger about the sec em coment to Charlotte. I was just admiring the spunkiness in her postings. She still sounds so young at heart. I live in on a 305 acre ranch in Paris ,Texas. I have another home in Rockwall. I did fly out to South Carolina to purchase my Boykin Spaniel on 1/1/2011. She is a beautiful dog who loves her balls and the water, If your interested in coming up for a visit my number is 903-7829889.any time. If it wasn't so far for everyone I would host a luncheon up here and have it catered .I have a big barn that we use for Thanksgiving every year.
Comments: Hi, Kathleen! I met Roe at a Red Cross presentation in De Kalb. He is delightful. I am visiting the Collings Foundation Wings of Freedom Tour, and they are currently in New England. Last night, the B-17 bomber had skydivers jump out. It was so much fun. They had on their modern, colorful parachutes. If they had worn the old-style white ones, that would have been eerie. It's nice and cool and the leaves are starting to turn. Hope that you are feeling better. Take care. Dan, I enjoyed reading about your life and hobbies. Sounds fun.

Comments: Ok, I looked up the Boykin Spaniel. It is a hunting dog first bred in South Carolina to be the perfect hunting dog.
Comments: Dan, Where do you want us to come for a visit? What is a Boykin Spaniel? It must be a rare breed. I think I may have talked to you at a SOC Reunion several years ago. Blessings to you!

Comments: Hi Sara, Good to see you posting. What are you doing these days? Didn't you run into my brother, Roe, not too long ago?
Comments: Oh yea!....love you Sara....so good to hear from you on here. I agree with you about those shows. Boo Boo what???? sheeesh! Our people have dumbed down as far as TV is concerned. Will y'all have fall color up there?
Comments: It's me...just saying what I see on TV is junk...unwatchable, dumbed down, insipid. Honey Boo Boo had higher ratings than the Conventions. Sigh.
Comments: I don't understand what you are saying Sara...if it is Sara....doesn't sound like you, but one never knows. Reality shows are junk as far as I am concerned, but haven't really seen any...I do not waist my time watching stuff that is published to try and save the net works..Networks have gone to the dregs....just sayin However, good to see you posting "Sara" I only waist my time perusing and commenting on the guest book....haaaaaaaaaaaaa!!
Comments: Hey, Charlotte, Maybe you could start watching Reality Shows and everything would seem much better...problems would be easier, like who will be the next American Idol, etc. See...easy. Don't let your brains fall out in the process.
Comments: All of the above, Kathleen. I've never had to have a glass of liquor or a cigarette, in my hand to make it through the day or night, however. She's not 'sic-ing' anybody..Dan S. By the way, Who is Dan S.??? Is he a 63 graduate..? Don't recall the name..?? Your call, Lynell..who is Dan S..?? (My annuals are in storage.)
Comments: I see us more as being realists! I don't speak for "some others" Live life as you wish as long as it is not a determent to others or to yourself. just sayin
Comments: Charlotte, I agree completely. Live today, plan for tomorrow and hope for the best.
Comments: Some of you have become so philosophical. Do any of you have a plan as to how you want to live the rest of your lives? Some people don't care about amassing great wealth. They just want to spend their lives helping people. Some people just want to drift. Others want to lead a spiritual life. What are your plans?
Comments: Sic em Char, I'm just saying with you!!!
Comments: Everybody makes plans, Charlotte, but you still better remember that 'New York Minute' thing....and be grateful for what you have.. I never thought I would wake up on a September morning, in Austin, turn on the TV, and see New York buildings burning and falling to the ground.. We've seen a lot in our life times...and it's not over yet.. Let's hope this week holds lots of joy for all of us...
Comments: That is so true Lynell....and though uncertain, I know that life is not a rehearsal therefore I try to live mine remembering this is it ......even if it is for this one day. But, this doesn't mean I don't make future plans.
Comments: To paraphrase Tom Petty, "In a New York minute it can all be gone."
Comments: Well, I guess I am at a disadvantage since I know nothing about the "12 steps" I just know life as mine is and the reality of it...tragedy and hardship? yes, I do know, but survival can also mean a look to the future with hope, forgiveness and hard work.....I'm just sayin....
Comments: Emotionally and Spiritually, you live Day to Day, Hour to Hour, and some time Moment to Moment... That's in 12 Steps, which applies to all of us. It's said, and written that most of us grew up in some 'dysfunction'.. That's 96 %.. That leaves 4 % that didn't.. There's many people 'out there' that grew up in much more dysfunction than we did.. Then Addiction and Abuse, enters in to this. In the midst of all that is the 'Addictions' of Power, Control(same thing), Greed. We've certainly seen a lot of that in our own country.. What's going on in the Middle East has a lot to do with this...and in the 'midst' of all that is Hatred.. It's still 'Day By Day', which more than one song, talks about..Plan all you want, but sometimes...survival gets down to Day By Day... Tsunami in Japan is one 'big example' of that...Never take for granted in what you have.
Comments: Didn't mean any reference to the dreaded subject on this guest book. Of course this situation will change, but I wonder if for the better? I don't think so. You may be right Kathleen. Just living day by day wouldn't help us have a nest egg for retirement, or plan for our children's higher education or save to buy a house etc etc etc. It would be nice to be able to do just that, but in my humble opinion that is a fantasy.
Comments: Just wait, folks..It will change.. We watched the 'fall of the Berlin Wall', Arab Springs, a gazillion other things... Remember how the IRA...in Ireland, fought on and on for years..? There's that old gospel song.."I don't know about tomorrow, I just live from day to day". My mother sang that song. I've sung it a few times.. We really don't know, but you do know, that it will not stay the same. It's one day at a time, on the local front or on the international front. About this site, it does get boring sometimes..But Wait..! That will change, won't it? I always check the site, but many times, I keep going, not interested in commenting..that day, etc. I enjoy it when Sharon Reeves 'stops by'. She always adds interesting 'tidbits'.. It's the middle of September....each day keeps marching through.. Have a nice week... (Larry Tey, I knew that was you...all along. Glad you cleared up the 'identity' problem.)
Comments: Charlotte, Are you discussing politics? I am also worried about what is going on. Several commentators seem to think that these attacks on American embassies and American businesses were planned. Of course, if the Mayan predictions about the end of the planet are correct, we won't be around to worry much longer.
Comments: Good grief! Where is everyone? no posts for 3 days. I'm so worried about the chaos in the Mid East. Is this the end of civilization or civil countries? Iran making nuclear weapons is scary and we are letting it happen. Now I read where China and Japan are at each others throat.
Comments: Jerry, wish I could come. I did go to one of your reunions several years ago. I had a great time. I would like to speak for the '63 class in wishing your class lots of fun and an enjoyable reunion. |
