Hi Sara,

Good to see you posting.  What are you doing these days?  Didn't you run into my brother, Roe, not too long ago?

Oh yea!....love you Sara....so good to hear from you on here. I agree with you about those shows. Boo Boo what????  sheeesh!  Our people have dumbed down as far as TV is concerned.

Will y'all have fall color up there?

It's me...just saying what I see on TV is junk...unwatchable, dumbed down, insipid.  Honey Boo Boo had higher ratings than the Conventions.
Sigh.

I don't understand what you are saying Sara...if it is Sara....doesn't sound like you, but one never knows.  Reality shows are junk as far as I am concerned, but haven't really seen any...I do not waist my time watching stuff that is published to try and save the net works..Networks have gone to the dregs....just sayin

However, good to see you posting "Sara"  I only waist my time perusing and commenting on the guest book....haaaaaaaaaaaaa!!

Hey, Charlotte, Maybe you could start watching Reality Shows and everything would seem much better...problems would be easier, like who will be the next American Idol, etc.  See...easy.  Don't let your brains fall out in the process.

All of the above, Kathleen. I've never had to have a glass of liquor or a cigarette, in my hand to make it through the day or night, however.
She's not 'sic-ing' anybody..Dan S.  By the way, Who is Dan S.??? Is he a 63 graduate..? Don't recall the name..?? Your call, Lynell..who is Dan S..??

I see us more as being realists!

I don't speak for "some others" Live life as you wish as long as it is not a determent to others or to yourself.  just sayin

Some of you have become so philosophical.  Do any of you have a plan as to how you want to live the rest of your lives?  Some people don't care about amassing great wealth.  They just want to spend their lives helping people.  Some people just want to drift.  Others want to lead a spiritual life.  What are your plans?

Everybody makes plans, Charlotte, but you still better remember that 'New York Minute' thing....and be grateful for what you have.. I never thought I would wake up on a September morning, in Austin, turn on the TV, and see New York buildings burning and falling to the ground.. We've seen a lot in our life times...and it's not over yet.. Let's hope this week holds lots of joy for all of us...

That is so true Lynell....and though uncertain,  I know that life is not a rehearsal therefore I try to live mine remembering this is it ......even if it is for this one day.  But, this doesn't mean I don't make future plans.

Well, I guess I am at a disadvantage since I know nothing about the "12 steps"  I just know life as mine is and the reality of it...tragedy and hardship?  yes, I do know, but survival can also mean a look to the future with hope, forgiveness and hard work.....I'm just sayin....

Emotionally and Spiritually, you live Day to Day, Hour to Hour, and some time Moment to Moment... That's in 12 Steps, which applies to all of us. It's said, and written that most of us grew up in some 'dysfunction'.. That's 96 %.. That leaves 4 % that didn't.. There's many people 'out there' that grew up in much more dysfunction than we did.. Then Addiction and Abuse, enters in to this. In the midst of all that is the 'Addictions' of Power, Control(same thing), Greed. We've certainly seen a lot of that in our own country.. What's going on in the Middle East has a lot to do with this...and in the 'midst' of all that is Hatred..
It's still 'Day By Day', which more than one song, talks about..Plan all you want, but sometimes...survival gets down to Day By Day... Tsunami in Japan is one 'big example' of that...Never take for granted in what you have.

Didn't mean any reference to the dreaded subject on this guest book.

Of course this situation will change, but I wonder if for the better?   I don't think so.  You may be right Kathleen.

Just living day by day wouldn't help us have a nest egg for retirement, or plan for our children's higher education or save to buy a house etc etc etc.  It would be nice to be able to do just that, but in my humble opinion that is a fantasy.

Just wait, folks..It will change.. We watched the 'fall of the Berlin Wall', Arab Springs, a gazillion other things... Remember how the IRA...in Ireland, fought on and on for years..?  There's that old gospel song.."I don't know about tomorrow, I just live from day to day". My mother sang that song. I've sung it a few times.. We really don't know, but you do know, that it will not stay the same. It's one day at a time, on the local front or on the international front.
About this site, it does get boring sometimes..But Wait..! That will change, won't it?  I always check the site, but many times, I keep going, not interested in commenting..that day, etc. I enjoy it when Sharon Reeves 'stops by'. She always adds interesting 'tidbits'.. It's the middle of September....each day keeps marching through.. Have a nice week... (Larry Tey, I knew that was you...all along. Glad you cleared up the 'identity' problem.)

Charlotte, Are you discussing politics?  I am also worried about what is going on.  Several commentators seem to think that these attacks on American embassies and American businesses were planned.  Of course, if the Mayan predictions about the end of the planet are correct, we won't be around to worry much longer.

Good grief!  Where is everyone?  no posts for 3 days.

I'm so worried about the chaos in the Mid East.   Is this the end of civilization or civil countries?  Iran making nuclear weapons is scary and we are letting it happen.   Now I read where China and Japan are at each others throat.

Today is 911 and the country is mourning the senseless  loss of so many lives.  With 9/11 our country lost it's innocence.  Let us hope that our government will continue to protect us  from terrorists.

Tanya, the alligator dance, really!  I too saw it for the first time at a frat party at NT and thought it was beyond ridiculous, but the guys doing it were drunk and didn't care.

Zoned out watching football yesterday.  Steve called me a traitor because I was rooting for RGIII and the Redskins.  I hope the Cowboys were watching that game.  Also, in the 49'ers/Packers game, loved the look on David Akers face when the football hit the goal post and bounced over for a 63-yard field goal.  I remember when Tom Dempsey hit the first one.

Larry I apologize for getting your last name wrong, after all these years I can barely remember my own.. I remember the time you saved me at one of those North Texas Fraternity parties, telling me "Do not drink anything that is already open, make sure they open that coke in front of you and DO NOT put it down". LOL.   Also, the first time ever I ever saw that Alligator dance!  Thanks Larry Tey for setting me straight!

Have been enjoying this page.  Wondering if there are any talking survivors of Stephen's Johnson Syndrome or Toxic Epidermal Necrolysis Syndrome. Any experiences from friends or family members regarding how and what to expect or where there may be support services for survivors would be very helpful.
I'm celebrating having survived my ordeal and would be available to discuss the disease, or check it out on line.

Peaches,

Peaches,  I didn't know that Jerry Vessels is on dialysis.  I am glad he is doing so well.  I should be having a procedure in the next two weeks on a Thursday to put a capheter in my stomach.  I have had two past procedures in the arm, but my veins so far seemed too small for dialysis.  Anyway, when they go through the stomach they don't use the veins and I can do home dialysis. Thanks to all of you for your prayers.  I pray for Mary everyday. It is wonderful that she has her children around her. Peaches your mother makes a good point about this being our "rusty years".

Talked to Pat Vessels for a long time last night, Jerry was napping. He is holding his own. Dialysis three times a week, has gone from 270 lbs to 193 lbs. His shingles are still very painful! Pat says he looks great. When I saw him about 3 weeks ago he did. Still our positive uplifting Jerry and Pat. Please continue to pray every day for them. I am still praying for that miracle. Also talked to Mary. She starts feeling bad then starts feeling good again. Kent, her son, is home now. His kids, Keri and her kids were all there last night. Keep praying for Mary every day also. Three of my very BEST friends!

Hi Tanya - yes my wife Janis and I are still around and kicking in McKinney, but my last name spelled Tey.  I really enjoy the comments on this website.  Have there been any updates on Jerry Vessels?  I remember Jerry from Boude Storey and North Texas, a really nice guy.
