Yes, I definitely need a transplant.  I hope that will be possible fairly soon.

Gosh, Cathy, I'm so sorry to hear about your kidney problems.  I hope everything works out and you get a transplant, if that's what you need.

There's an obscure Jewish prayer for every time one has a bathroom event.  It's something like, "Dear God, I'm not sure why this happens, but I thank you for it."  There's plenty of wisdom in that.  The prayer was written 4,000 or so years ago.

It's our anniversary, so we're partyin' down here at Smith Manor.  Steaks on the grill, 'tater surprise, and frozen grapes on the side.  David even mentioned a trip to Braum's later.  'Tis good to be party animals!  This is #43, amazingly.

Have a happy and safe long weekend, everyone!

Sharon, I checked out all the annuals here at our house and could not locate a Larry Pate in any of them going back to 1961.  I graduated in 65 and the only girl close to that name was Sharon Paty, who is married to Jackie Allen from our class, so I do not think the two are related.

It seems all the news relating to our friends lately has been devastating.  They are all seriously ill, including myself.  I have kidney problems and I feel bad much of the time.  I need a kidney transplant, and I hope that will happen within a reasonable period of time.  Please pray or me. I realize that some of you are also having problems and I hope that your health will improve.  As my eye doctor noted yesterday, "Our golden years are not always so golden."

I saw in the obits this morning that Larry Pate passed away.  Wasn't he in our class?  His sister, Sharon, graduated in '65, I believe.  Any update on Mary and Jerry?  Hope everyone has a very happy and safe Labor Day.

Gary talked with Mike Young this morning, Mike is doing well from his stent surgery.  His granddaughter Emily, who was involved in the car accident is still in ICU at Baylor in Dallas, however, they have removed the C5 vertebrae disk from her neck, spinal cord has not been severed, which is a good thing.  It is, however, bruised.  She has some feeling in her legs, but cannot yet move them.  With a bruising of the spinal cord, she may regain full ability to walk again, but will take a long time of rehabilitation.  Right now she has a endotracheal tube down her throat attached to respiratory machine to help her breathe and cannot talk, but can write with pen and paper. As you know she was a cheerleader, the high school class met up at the football field and had a prayer vigil for Emily and all the other kids involved in the accident the other day.  Keep praying for Emily as she may not be able to even attend school this coming year due to her injuries, much less cheer at the games and she has not been told of this yet.  This young 16 year old has a long way to go, keep them in your thoughts and prayers.

In the Ft Worth Star Telegram yesterday, the Arlington Music Hall has a list of upcoming shows.  On the list for Sept 1st Saturday 7pm is a FREE CONCERT.  It is not on their website.  I just spoke with the ticket office 817-226-4400 and it is a variety show.  Just tell them how many tickets and pick the tickets up at the prepaid window that night.

Kathleen, I have many memories of the old Volks location at Skillman/Live Oak -- including putting a gorgeous suede coat with mink collar in layaway, and eventually paying it out.  At one point, goldfish swam around a long path in that store.

Later it went through several incarnations, including a so-so Mexican restaurant where I once asked a waiter if I could have "more tea, please."  He was gone a long time, then trotted over with a MARTINI, up.  Maybe I mumbled.  Anyway, they didn't last long. Later, I took depositions about the beer dispenser at Tipperary Inn.  So many memories!  They'll do well as The Mecca.

Peaches, I pray that God brings comfort to Mary and all who love her.  Have a safe trip and a good visit.

I hope Mike's granddaughter has a speedy recovery.  I know we will all pray for Mike and his family.  Lynell, I happened to drive by the old Tipperary Inn today and there is a big sign proclaiming the building to be the future home of the Mecca Restaurant.  This location should be a great improvement.  Lately, I have been hearing a lot about Ayn Rand and her philosophy.  I was wondering if any of you remember that Ms. Bryant, my algebra teacher, took a week off from teaching math to read us Ayn Rand's novel Anthem.  Although I don't agree with a lot of her philosophy, the novel made quite an impression on me__at least the part about the pleasure palaces.

West Nile in Dallas?  I see on the news that spraying is happening.  18 deaths and 400 cases?  Whoa!!  I hope none of you or your family members have gotten this horrible virus.  I remember when Houston used to spray with the trucks.  Now, I have the Mosquito Man equipment at my townhouse.  It is not toxic to humans or dogs and it KILLS  those skeeters!  The spray goes off once in a while, but I can also turn it on with a remote.
You Big D folks be careful!

Peaches, was Emily involved in the accident in Maypearl?  There were 4 teenagers in that accident, young man was driving a Volkswagen Beetle, lost control of car, the three girls ages 15-16, one was ejected from the vehicle and two of the girls were air flighted to Parkland and Baylor, the others taken to Methodist Dallas.  The picture of the car was in the Dallas Morning News this morning.   We will be praying for Mike and his granddaughter Emily as well as the other kids involved in this wreck, so very sad.

Mike Young, class of 63, just called. His 16 year old granddaughter, Emily Powell, was in a car wreck last night. The doctors are telling them she will be paralyzed from the waist down.  Mike has requested prayer for his family. As you know Mike himself just went through surgery having 2 stints put in. He is doing okay  but is vey concerned and devasted about his precious Emily. She makes excellent grades and is a Cheerleader.  We all know the POWER OF PRAYER. Jesus is our Healer and Great Physician and she is in His hands!

Thats the problerm, Sharon. Jerry Jones has always thought he was another Al Davis ( who he used to call for advice 2 or 3 times per week). No matter how much he would like to be, Jones will never be another Al Davis.
