Not "my program".  I only do a minuscule part and I'm not really doing anything.  After all, I like to get out on the water and fish.  This time, I just get to do it with some fantastic young men and women.

First Baptist Gatesville and others were a part of hosting 500 warriors.. It's nice to know such a large effort was accomplished.

A lifelong relationship probably started with that young man and those parents.  What a great story, and as Martha said, what are the chances.  Barry, your program does a lot of good things.  That soldier brought some peace to that family.

Barry, that is a great story.  What were the chances those parents would ever know first hand.  Thanks for your participation in the great project.  Rockbox Theater, in Fredericksburg, hosted some this past weekend also.

Charlotte:

Thanks for the donation to Warriors Weekend.  The amazing thing I have noticed after doing this for 4 years is how upbeat all the soldiers are.  Out of all of them we have talked to, only one wanted to complain.  The others, without exception, only regret that they had to leave their fellow soldiers.  They all wish they could go back and some of them get to do so.

One really interesting thing happened year before last.  A lady comes to POC about a week before WW and builds a really elaborate sand sculpture.  On this sculpture was a listing of all the area soldiers that have been killed in Iraq and Afganistan.  One of the guys we took fishing that year was in a humvee that was blown up by an IED.  He was the only survivor.  He saw a name on the list and said that he was one of his buddies killed in the explosion.  A fellow standing next to us said, "That's his parents right over there".  He went over to meet them and it was very touching. The parents had wanted to find out exactly what had happened.  Small world.

Since FB is the only place those in the know are posting right

now,  for those of you who do not use FB I will update here

when I see the posts.

Correction.  Peaches wrote a new update on Mary.  She said

Mary still sounds good.  Her chemo will not start until

Monday and other procedures will wait until June 6.

Mary Kay posted in Face Book that Mary is awake and was
having lunch when she talked to her. Mary told Mary Kay that the tumor was larger and deeper than what they thought and they have scheduled Gamma Knife on May 23 to try to get the rest of the tumor.

Mary Kay also posted that the good news is that Mary is moving to her room tonight and doesn't have to stay in ICU. Mary is starting chemo this afternoon.

All I know is what is on FB...Mary Kay said she talked to

Mary's daughter, Kari, and she sounded very worried.  Mary

Kay said she, Peaches and Celi will get to the hospital as

soon as possible.  Kari said that would be a good thing.

Barry, I went to the Warrior Weekend site and it is very

impressive.  I wish I could be at the airport to applaud the

arrival of the veterans.  To be able to thank them there

would be so up lifting for me.  I do thank you for your

participation in this weekend of honoring them.  I made my

donation today and wish you and the

volunteers...there must be many to pull this off.....the best!

Mary Kay Crowder posted on facebook. I am copying and pasting "Update on Mary McCord Bach . . . ok to post per Mary. She's at St. Lukes Hospital, getting ready to have her port put in, brain surgery scheduled for 10 am tomorrow (Tuesday), will be in ICU probably through Thursday night, will start chemo on Wednesday while in ICU. Peaches, Celi or I will keep you updated. PRAY, PRAY PRAY as Mary undergoes her surgery! She sounds good and so glad all of this is happening so soon after getting her latest test results."
I have talked with Mary also and she is very positive (as always). Let us all agree with Mary that this will be successful and the chemo will work.

Donna and I are definitely down for a fall return to Crockett. Anybody who missed this one should start making plans now! Martha is a great hostess and organizer.

I didn't post pictures of James Anthony's "Big Mooning" because it just didn't seem appropriate.

Cynthia, thanks, and you, too, Bill.  The pictures are now linked on the Images page.  It looks like everyone had a great time, even Mary while she was kissing that frog.  The moon pictures didn't show up well. so I didn't post them.  SOCites are THE best!!

Thanks to Martha once again for a memorable event and all the folks that help to make it that way.  My photos are on the way Lynell.  You should have them by now including the slumber party early view of the moon from Martha's back yard.  It was so nice to meet Jud in person finally and see so many folks drove down from the Dallas area - Harriett from Killeen and our Houston area representatives.  Count me in for the Fall - you do not want to miss this a second time so put it on your calendar.  Yeah Martha!

Saturdays luncheon in Crockett was so much fun, was wonderful to visit with everyone.  A few of us had an added treat of spending the night at Martha's.  We stayed up talking and laughing until almost midnight.  Larry Mitchell was our chaperone!!!  Felt like we were all back in High School with our cheerleader Mary rooting us on!!  Martha is by far the Hostest with the Mostest!!!  Thanks for planning the luncheon and for your hospitality!!!!

Thanks to all that came to Crockett Saturday.  I enjoyed seeing everyone of you and my friends and the staff thought you were great to make the trip to have a luncheon so far away.  We may try it again in early November.

Dru and I had a fine time in Crockett yesterday. Great food and margaritas at the Spring Creek Country Club, and so much fun visiting with old SOC buddies. Martha Bass Hunt is a wonderful hostess.

Her Spring Creek subdivision is a little jewel tucked away north of town surrounding a beautiful lake.

Lookie here, bargain hunters: I heard an ad on the radio for TXU customers to sign up for free electricity between 10:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m.  I called and signed us up for two years, so from now on the pool will run during the night, and I'll turn on the dishwasher as I head off to bed.  Our washer has a timer on it, so it can go at 5:00 a.m.

Anybody take a picture or two at the luncheon in Crockett?  Send them to me, if you'd like them posted on here.  Thanks.

Joan and I went to a birthday party today for a lady in our church.  She turned 96.  She asked her daughter to invite us because, as she said "I know they really like me!"  We sit on each side of her at church because she is afraid she will fall.  She's outlived 3 husbands and says she will invite us again next year.  She is as sharp as a tack and still has a twinkle in her eyes.  She gives us all something to shoot for.

Charlotte:

Thanks for the donation.  This will be the 4th year that my friend and I have taken out soldiers.  One year, we didn't get to take out the wounded, but instead, had a photographer from the Pentagon and a retired General.  No service academy graduate, he had worked himself up through the ranks.  He was a paratrooper that served in virtually every war and conflict since the Korean War and there have been a lot of them.  I'm sure he could tell some stories, but he was pretty tight lipped.

We'll think about you on Saturday.

Thanks again.
