Comments: I was wonderin Kathleen...I didn't see the game but I couldn't figure out what you were sayin...oops happens!!! haaaa! Especially to me! That should be my bumper sticker!
Comments: This here's a tale for all the fellas. Try to do what those ladies tell us: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xy4FXhkm6Nw&ob=av3e
Comments: Another Opps moment, I meant to say Skyline High School was filing an official complaint.
Comments: I saw on the news tonight that Skyline felt they were cheated out of their victory, because of a call the referee made the last two minutes of the game. They (SOC) plan to file an official complaint Monday. The replay film they were showing on the news did look like the referee might have made a mistake.
Comments: BUST A MOVE ????? Haaaaaaaaaaaaaa! What does that mean? Did the Golden Bear Band Bust a Move??? Whoa! I am so old!
Comments: After having lunch at Ojeda's on Maple Avenue, along with Mr. Jerry Jones who was sitting a couple of booths over, my son and I went to the Carroll-Skyline game at SMU. On the way into the stadium, we saw a fox funning across the practice field that faces Mockingbird Lane. Not sure if it was the same fox, but what are the odds? Great game, especially for Carroll, but I have to tell you that the Skyline band stole the halftime show. They were fantastic! The Carroll band never had a chance after their announcer started their show by advising all in attendance that the Carroll band was going to "bust a move". Really? Wrong night for that routine.
Comments: What about those Southlake Carroll Dragons. Down 10 points to the #3 team in the nation (Dallas Skyline) with only 1:50 left in 4rh Qtr. Scored twice and won 28-24. Paper said it had been 6 decades since a DISD team went to State. Carroll plays for State at 4PM Sat. Joan teaches 4th grade in Carroll district had has taught a lot of the current players. When Carroll was scoring the winning touchdown, a black and gray fox was running across the field. Picture was in Dallas paper. He looked confused and was running the wrong way! Barry
Comments: John, too bad you don't take the Dallas Morning News. There is a big article on MMM in the Arts section. I guess he's doing that Cowboy Christmas routine again. I personally think that "icing" the kicker should not be allowed on any level of football. Also, watched the Heisman show on Saturday night and was very glad that RGIII from Baylor won. I actually watched several Baylor games this season just to watch him. It sure helps when you have a QB that can do everything!
Comments: How 'bout dem Cowboys!? I went to bed at 11:00 last night and they had a comfortable lead in the 4th quarter. Get up this morning and learn they BLEW it. Again.
Comments: Really - All this time I was thinking it was Phillip Pelch that spilled coffee in my New GTO at the Dairy Queen That wasn't you - James
Comments: Are you sayin there is a Phil Pelch RECALL????
Comments: Jim , I recall Phil Pelch ..

Comments: Sherri lived I think on Kushla by Bob And Sandy Saunders. She graduated in 65 at Soc. Dad was a WW2 vet in Burma. He was a good man. Like to listen to the stories he Bob and my dad talked about. Good to here from you Sherri. Hope lifes been good to you. Phillip pelch and Kennth Beachum get on the site some times. Maybe you recall them.
Comments: Sherri, your name rings a bell with me in my addled brain. Please come to a reuinion or a luncheon sometime. We have frequent luncheons. They're fun, local and reasonably priced. Where'd you go to junior high?
Comments: Time seem to go so slow when we were young. Now that we are all seniors and most all of us have grandchildren we wonder "Where did the time go? After seeing how many of our classmates have passed it made me so sad, It all seems to come to a full circle and when we get to the end, we hope people remember us with good thoughts and remember the good times. I have old friends that I have became completely out of touch which, some I really would like to be reunited with but cannot find. Donna Kay Simmons was my best friend and lived right across the street from me, I have tried many times to locate her but she seems out of reach, she was a year behind me in school. Jeannie Sublet has contacted me, and sent me a picutes, Jeannie is a beautiful person and done very well for herself. Although I did not graduate with you guys in 1963, I did have a beautiful baby boy, and ended up graduating from Christian day school. I always did want to come to the reunion but felt that would not have been right. I just want to say Merry Christmas to each and everyone of you and I hope each of you are doing well. May God Bless and keep you.
Comments: Charlotte, the little geocaching medal was awarded to the first 5 cachers to locate a series of 5 geocaches that were part of a puzzle called "Wii Love Music". The cache hider (Wii Rock) provided the medals as an incentive to go after her hidden caches. She is a music teacher, hence the theme. I was the 2nd to find all five - was beat out by that evil ... I mean "energetic" 9 yr. old Cub Scout (Ryan). The medal has a microphone on it to go with the music concept. My next adventure is to recruit two metal detecting volunteers to go search a ghost town southwest of Houston. Back around 1930 to 1959 it was the "company town" for a sulphur mining operation. The place is Newgulf, TX. I have a super-duper "secret" map obtained from a man who lived there for 10 years when he was a lad. His father was the company pilot. So far my recruits are showing some reluctance. I keep reminding them "It isn't tresspassing if nobody calls the police". ![]()
Comments: I just added some pictures from the party, thanks to Martha Bass Hunt! Check out the pictures on the Images page.
Comments: JS..please tell us again why you have your medal! It was on the page that was lost...You are such a geo cache winner and deserve praise for your award. WOW it is cold in Houston...not used to this, BUT..it is waaay better than 106*
Comments: Charlotte, you summed it up precisely. It wouldn't be as exasperating if this were on-site construction, but this is a dirt storage yard for a Water Utilities project over a mile away. This was apparently the only place that would rent their land for these mountains of recently-excavated soil and massive dump trucks. One department of the City issued a permit for a construction office, which is not what's there. Then the Code Dept. can't or won't enforce laws against another city department. It's a mess, and the neighbors are stuck dealing with it. The city representative gave me his word this will be gone Dec. 12, so let's see if it happens. I have made a lot of people mad at me -- the church, the contractor and some city people. Most of them admitted they wouldn't want this thing across the street from their own houses. The bottom line is it's illegal.
Comments: Nice Christmas party pics. Interesting medal that "one of ours" was wearing. Is that a 'distinguished service award?' Have a great day everyone.
Comments: so, Lynell, the "exempt" church is making a profit renting out that property and to "hell" with the neighbors?! I hope the city holds them to their Dec 12 exit dead line. I can only imagine that beeping going on all day beginning at 7 AM..or before. I live on a street with lots of old apartments that are being sold for the property. Then the building begins...noise, dirt, dust, garbage, beeping. One just sold right up the street so I know it is just a matter of time before the construction starts. We are so happy to see the apartments be replaced by lovely homes, but in the interim it is inconvenient. Gee it is cold here...much better than 106 though. ;-)
Comments: Aaargh! I am so ready for the illegal dirt storage lot across the street from out house to go away! If you can believe anything from a city official, Dec. 12 is supposed to be the last day. The front end loader has been beep-beep-beeping all afternoon as the tandem dump trucks get loaded and head for the landfill. I still find it hard to believe that a church would do this to the neighbors. The project is supposed to last TWO YEARS. We're about six weeks into it, and it is driving me nuts!!!
Comments: That sweet '64 guy Lonnie sent me his pictures! I'm sure there are still a few we missed, but what we have will be on the Images page in a little while. Thank you, Lonnie.
Comments: Love seeing pics of you party attendees. Thanks Lynell.....Dorothy and Ken................wow! Great to see pix of you! Looks as tho all had a good time. I saw Lonnie's on FB too...he has more...he needs to send them to Lynell.
Comments: Thank you, Cynthia. I hope you have a picture of that pretty top you were wearing. When I saw how few pictures I had taken, I couldn't believe I was such a slacker!
Comments: Along with everyone else - thank you so much to the hostesses and hosts of the annual SOC Christmas party at Peaches' home. It is always a lovely setting and wonderful food shared by all. Lynell, I will try to send you my photos very soon as I did manage to take a few more than you did - what a surprise! I have seen Lonnie's on FB and they are wonderful. It was so wonderful seeing everyone again and missed those that could not make it for whatever reason.
Comments: Had a wonderful time yesterday at our SOC Christmas luncheon. Thank you Peaches, for the use of your home again, and the hard working luncheon committee. Everything was delicious and the company wonderful. |
