It's such a nice way to start off the Christmas season . . .  going to Peaches' home!  As always, all the food was good (I tasted everything just to make sure)!  It was a great spread and Peaches home is so beautifully decorated.  Really enjoyed seeing all my SOC Friends & meeting some new friends.  Thanks to Peaches & all the hard-working committee members who make everything come off flawless!!

What a great Christmas party!  Many thanks to Peaches and to the wonderful hostesses and hosts who put on this annual shindig.  Peaches' house looked amazing, the food was incredible and the company was just the best -- SOC friends!

I took a few pictures.  Seems I got distracted by the food and conversation, so I hope Lonnie will bail me out with pictures of everyone that I missed, which was just about everyone.  My apologies to the ones I missed.

The pictures are on the Images page.  Lonnie, Cynthia, somebody help!!

This site is almost as good as going to school with all of you, it was - heck - the only reason we all went was to see each other every day we could and be in all the conversations even if mainly a listener.
Keep the grind going just don't let it get you down... Hope you all have a wonderful weekend especially those not able to be there and Hope you all Glow in this moments you have each and every day, specially 'His' season, mine also- must have hit the wrong month date 'cause its wrong.
I'll never know how anyone gets any thing out of what I try to type or say. One finger would be easier than hit & miss to way off base. I' get done real fast loosing my thought before it is said or become real creative.
Always,

Hey, Mike.  I gave that same Bum Phillips quote to my husband this morning.  I was glad to see that Leach finally got offered a job and hope he does well at Washington State.  This is going to be a wild football weekend.  Can't wait.  Won't be able to attend the party on Sunday and am really going to miss seeing everyone.  Be safe.

JS, haven't you received the initial order of "Lynell is Swell" bumper stickers?  I ordered 50,000 several months ago and gave them your address.  BTW, they are coming COD, but simply submit the bill to the "Lynell is Swell" campaign headquarters and I'm sure they will take care of it.  If you need more, just submit the proper requisition form in triplicate.

Hmmmm....this is peculiar.  Several posts on here seem to be missing.  I wonder whassup with that?  I know JS posted a very attractive picture of one of his geocache locations, and there were some other posts that are missing, too.  Maybe we have a ghost.

Lynell, we need to crank up the "Lynell is Swell" Presidential campaign again. If you can push through the removal of that illegal dirt operation, I know you'll be able to herd that dead-beat bunch of Congressmen into actually doing something and earning their paychecks!

It's about time the White House had some feline residents, too. Congrats on your victory.

I am very thankful that I live in America, where we still live by rule of law, not might. I just won a battle with the City, a contractor, and the church across the street that leased their property as a staging area for a public utilities project that is expected to take two years. This was illegal in many ways, but the contractor has agreed to remove their heavy equipment and mountain of dirt from the residentially-zoned property. In about two weeks, no more heavy equipment noise and Diesel fumes from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. No constant beep-beep-beep of the front-loader backing up, and I hope no more clouds of dust and microbes from those 12-foot piles of dirt. This took a few letters and e-mails, about a thousand phone calls, listening to many whoppers from all parties, and pursuing it till the right person at the City helped us homeowners on this block. God bless justice!

Happy Thanksgiving!

If you ever need to make time slow down, all you have to do is have lightening blow out the modem on your computer. We have been all day without a computer, a television, and a telephone. We had to wait all day for the AT&T technician to come out and install a new modem. He came about 6;00 tonight. I am so glad to be able to watch TV and use my computer
Today marked the "moment of silence" in Dealey Plaza.. My husband has gone every year for years, as do a lot of Dallasites. The crowd was somewhat thinner this year: about 150 people were there, less than other years. Beverly Oliver, who usually sings "Amazing Grace," was not there this year. Some people who attended every year for decades are no longer living, including Pancho Medrano. Of course, the assassination was forty-eight years ago.

Phyllis, you are so right, in my humble opinion.  The media has lost all credibility, sad to say.

Kathy Pulte's comment got me thinking about the difference between opinion and fact.  So much of what passes for "fact" in the heated political debates to which we seem to be almost daily subjected actually appear to be, at most, someone's opinion or -- worse yet -- totally-unfounded myth or rumor.  Churchill said it best:  "[y]ou are entitled to your own opinions, but not to your own facts."  I think the media have really let everyone down by backing away from their traditional role of investigative reporting and fact-checking, in favor of providing "infotainment."  It makes it increasingly difficult and frustrating to sort through all the competing claims, half-truths, etc.

Thanks for warning me, I was just about to put my belongings on a pole and hit the rails, or maybe Carol was running me out on a rail! I' get confused sometimes.

I mentioned this over on Facebook, but for those of you who are still entertaining the career choice of "running away with the circus" (and you know who you are), let me recommend that you watch the movie "Water For Elephants".

This tense little yarn from the Depression era (no, the OTHER depression ... 1930's) will definitely put the kibosh on your yearning to hit the rails.

Joan and I took a bike trip to Turkey, TX a couple of years ago and stayed at the Turkey Hotel.  Room for two, steak dinner, breakfast, carriage ride around town and 2 tickets to the local drive-in theater-$79.00.  I would recommend it if they are still open.

Hi!!"Guys and Dolls" spring play 63, I tried to send a comment a couple of days ago, must of found the magic button to lock out.
Finally had to sk...to get on with the day. Found a site tree.52
was quite interesting. They allowed access to a 61 den, which I studied carefully, recalling all of you and finding many more in-cluding myself. Dear Rowena Paschal insisted I had to take typing, which I passed but I still can't, last tested early 1980's 24 words per minute only 28 error. Sure glad I learned to print and write, my spelling will hopefully get me by. Language arts were not too bad, but punctuation???it's a stab as in... then stab drag tiny twist as in,,,always the double stab:::combo;;; the slash stab!!!the diagonals///reverse\\\ the comco/\/\\/\/throat cutter---ankle cutter___ Pretty easy stuff all in all alittle easier for left or right handness. The real talent is in those  with ambidextrousness and comes with remembering the figures-preferred taller )( not() ooops!!! got that wrong. It gets even tougher when you consider Squarer][ and []b then for the rest }{ or {} and >< or <> single time```double time'''Double its"""little~~~half light bulb moments???think harder###a little^^^ and you'll be in the$$$. How about two shots and you're only half dead%%% reverse vertigo@@@ seeing stars***someone hit you in the heas+++ or is that calvary, no double tracks=== haven't been profaning however typing does affect me that way. When I taught high school we often did an exercise where the students had to determine if a comment is fact or opinion. An example would be: Mary lives at 4222 Grant Street. (fact because the statement can be verified). Mary may live forty blocks from the library. (opinion because what is being said is some ones opinion). Although this was usually an easy exercise, I think we need to be teaching students ways to determine if something is true. It seems a lot of people are misquoted nowadays and taken out of context.
