Comments: Man, this heat is curtailing my metal detecting outings. I did manage to get out for an hour and a half this morning and found 30 coins around the edge of nearby Pepperdale Pond. Tuesday morning I joined two other guys and we spent a couple of hours in the morning searching for jewelry in the shallow water at the south end of Lake Conroe - in a designated swimming area. Comments: Mr. Grubbs? Haven't heard that in a long time! I knew which Bristol you were talking about. And, after 43 years of Porsche ownership, I am once again Porscheless. I know it's hard to believe, but it was time. I think it was driven 200 miles in the last 2 years.
Comments: Sure glad they got that debt ceiling deal done. Now we can all relax and work on jobs, collect our codger checks, and buy O-bomb-a a birthday card. Maybe I should write my congressman....oh forgot.....they all took August off. Oh well, I'll just sit back, enjoy the weather, and pray that Leftnell has enough savings left to loan me a few bucks for my electric bill, water bill, and gasoline bill.
Comments: No, Mr Grubbs, that would be Bristol, Tennesse. Bristol is on the Tennesse/Virgina border, about 115 miles northeast of Knoxville. It is commonly referred to as Thunder Valley and is king of Nascar's short tracks (half mile). You are excused, my guess is the Porsche is not built for bump drafting.

Comments: Want good teeth? Two words, Chester Clinic. I am a semi-licensed orthodontist, it's really quite easy. On many occasions I have used my down time between gynecological exams to slap on a set of braces. Doubts? Check out the million dollar smile that Judhead Caldwell flashes.  By the way, does it bother any of you that one of the leading lawn fertilizer brands is Ortho? Just wondering.Note to Bobby Pettit: My racing speed on the same track was 154.20, sorry.

Comments: Sam: I enjoy and agree with your "trash talk". Keep it up. Speaking of trash talk, what about Biden referring to Tea Party members as Terrorists. Since when did believing in the Constitution make you a Terriorist? I guess I would be a Terrorist according to Biden.
Comments: Kathleen, it's hard to believe a responsible parent would allow their child's teeth to be maimed like that. Maybe the key word is "responsible." Braces can literally tear up soft tissue if they're put on by someone unskilled. Plus, I wouldn't think the result would be stunning. I want to hear about the race car driving, too.

Comments: Lynell, I have been noticing the dental clinics going up everywhere and wondering what kind of dental care you would receive if you went to one of them. I also noticed these clinics were going into neighborhoods with lots of minorities. Casa View Shopping Center has several of them. Some time ago, I saw one little boy in South Texas where an unscrupulous dentist had capped every teeth in his mouth at the states expense. The poor kid was in a lot of pain and had trouble eating because of all the metal in his mouth. It is hard to believe anyone would do this to a child.
Comments: BTW, you know all these dental clinics that have popped up everywhere? That's where dentists who are not necessarily orthodontists can slap braces on kids. I wore braces as an adult, paid for by ME, and I know my orthodontist had to go to school a long time to learn how to do it. Some of these regular dentists are making a killing doing this, without having to pay to go to orthodontics school. Cool, huh?
Comments: Today while eating lunch, I heard an ad on the radio saying a family can earn up to $44,000 per year and be eligible for Medicaid. Coverage includes eye exams, dental care (including orthodontia in Texas) and medical exams. The ad gave a website to go to for free medical care.
