That was weird.  At least my emoticon showed up for my great idea about how to stay cool.  You just position yourself under an AC vent and eat ice cream all day.

Greetings Soc-ites..want to let you know of an entertainment opportunity Aug 19 here in Wylie where the infamous James and I live.  A group we're members of is sponsoring an "ELVIS Tribute" featuring the "Klone of Rock n Roll", Jerry Price.  Jerry's performed in L.Vegas, Branson, Canada, & cruise ships and his show promises to be really rockin.  James and I are members of WASA - Wylie Area Senior Assoc raising money to build a Senior Center for the community - and this show will be a benefit to help raise funds.  We could sure use the help! Tickets are $20/adults, $10/12 yrs and under (to include you Ken Hass) - and can be purchased at any Wylie bank or James and I can get you connected to some.  Details: Friday, Aug 19, 7:00pm, First Baptist Church Events Center downtown Wylie.  Jean cell: 214-991-0735 James cell: 214-991-0736

Lynell's right about the TCB necklace, John. Elvis' motto! In a FLASH!!

Happy Birthday Ken.  You have the funniest lines - at times - I know Bev - don't encourage him but you brighten my day many times over.  May you have a wonderful day and the year be full of joy and great health.

JS, your friend is mistaken in thinking that lightning bolt necklace is junk. That's Elvis's Taking Care of Business in a Flash medallion. It's priceless.

Bosko, you are welcome to share my refrigerator crate. The utility bills are low.

Man, this heat is curtailing my metal detecting outings. I did manage to get out for an hour and a half this morning and found 30 coins around the edge of nearby Pepperdale Pond.

Tuesday morning I joined two other guys and we spent a couple of hours in the morning searching for jewelry in the shallow water at the south end of Lake Conroe - in a designated swimming area. I didn't get much to show for it but Mark and Wayne did okay. Here's a YouTube video Mark made:

Mr. Grubbs?  Haven't heard that in a long time!  I knew which Bristol you were talking about.  And, after 43 years of Porsche ownership, I am once again Porscheless.  I know it's hard to believe, but it was time.  I think it was driven 200 miles in the last 2 years.

Sure glad they got that debt ceiling deal done. Now we can all relax and work on jobs, collect our codger checks, and buy O-bomb-a a birthday card. Maybe I should write my congressman....oh forgot.....they all took August off. Oh well, I'll just sit back, enjoy the weather, and pray that Leftnell has enough savings left to loan me a few bucks for my electric bill, water bill, and gasoline bill.

Ken Haas

Comments:

No, Mr Grubbs, that would be Bristol, Tennesse. Bristol is on the Tennesse/Virgina border, about 115 miles northeast of Knoxville. It is commonly referred to as Thunder Valley and is king of Nascar's short tracks (half mile). You are excused, my guess is the Porsche is not built for bump drafting.

I've got relatives that live in Bristol-nice little town just east of Ferris and I45.  My cousin used to be the sheriff there.  That is the Bristol you were talking about?  Never seen any "bump draft" down there, or whatever you call it.

Everyone who drives LBJ Freeway in Dallas or I-10 in Houston is familiar with the "bump-draft" technique.

Ken Haas

Comments:

OK, Robert, you got me. I've been to Bristol too many times to get behind the wheel. Also, I prefer the term "bump draft", sounds less intrusive.
