Comments: I was happy to hear a real singer perform the national anthem tonight at the World Series opener. There was no trilling, warbling or other vocal gymnastics. Too bad they had to tell people to remove their hats. John, because of voter fraud I fear you are right.
Comments: Let's face facts - the act of one person voting is statistically certain to make no difference at all. Even for the most passionate partisan, it is hard to argue that voting is a good use of your time. Instead of waiting in line to vote, do as I did, and wait in line to buy a Texas Lotto ticket, hoping to win $20 million to use to advance your causes. And all with an almost indescribably greater chance of success than you'll have in the voting booth cheering for Republicans, Democrats or the Tea Party. Think it over.
Comments: Martha, I thought the same thing. Separated at birth, perhaps? Maybe that's why he grew the foliage. ![]()
Comments: Is it just me or did Leon Russell look a lot like Eddie Munster in that video?
Comments: I did not recognize that clean-looking fellow as Leon Russell. We have a great album from the 70's he made with Willie Nelson. When I say album, I mean a big, black platter. John, will you please save up those coins you find and buy me a vinyl-to-CD recording device for my birthday in a few months?
Comments: Claude Russell Bridges is 68. And right now I am watching him on TV in a current day special in which he and Elton John are playing their respective pianos. The first year Dru and I were dating (1990) I took her to a little Houston nightclub on Washington St. to hear Claude perform. To my surprise, he stunk up the place. He could no longer manage even his very best songs like Lady Blue and Delta Lady. We left early and demanded a refund. The refund was refused. I apologized to Dru and tried to convince her that he was once a major talented force in the music world. Now twenty years later it is sad watching him on TV, playing opposite a dynamo like Elton. Claude's stage name is Leon Russell. Here is a link to one of his earliest performances - before his hair turned snow white; before his HUGE hit tour with Joe Cocker: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yme_DnIfR6I&feature=related
Comments: I wish I could have attended Jan's service. I am glad there was a good many SOCites there. Bob, thank you for letting us know about Bedford. I have sent Mary a note.
Comments: What a lovely service for Jan, and what a wonderful family she has. There were many SOCites present. I'm so sorry to hear about Mary's brother.
Comments: Spoke to McCord-Bach this morning. Her brother Bedford is not doing well at all. Please keep Bedford and Mary in your thoughts.
Comments: We went to the visitation last night for Jan, it was so hard to see her after just two weeks ago when she was so vibrant and full of life at the 65 BD party. We had a great visit at the party and I will truly miss her beautiful smile and laughter. She was telling me she had to drive to Ardmore, OK to buy her clothes as she could never find her size in Dallas. She was such a tiny little thing, but full of life. She will be terribly missed. God Bless Terri and Ralph and Cheryl in their loss of this beautiful lady. God Bless the Classmates.
Comments: Jan's obituary in the Dallas Morning News is here: http://www.legacy.com/obituaries/dallasmorningnews/obituary.aspx?n=jan-tanco&pid=146132519&fhid=11533

I told her how beautiful she looked for the 65th Birthday party because she really stood out that evening in her gold and hair up. My condolences to her classmates that knew her so well, may you have peace that she is with the Lord.

Comments: I have known Jan since middle school. Several years ago my husband and I were at the same table at one of the Reunions. As it turned out, we had a lot in common of which we were unaware. We enjoyed that evening very much. Jan has always been a wonderful and warm person.
Comments: It is almost unbelievable that Jan is gone. Many fond memories going back to the 8th grade and good times in the neighborhood.
Comments: I am so sorry for our loss of Jan Fincher. She was a lovely lady inside and out. She looked beautiful at our 65th. I am thankful that I have had the pleasure of visiting with her twice in this last year. My condolences to her family.

Comments: How sad to hear about Jan. My prayers are with her and her family.
Comments: Jan Fincher Tanco died during the night. Terri, her daughter just called me. She is not sure why but thinks it is probably from lung complications. Jan has had very weak lungs and it has been difficult to breath since all the complications from the hospital. Visitation will be Thursday, October 21st 7:00 - 9:00 pm at Sparkman Hillcrest. Memorial will be in the chapel Friday, October 22nd at 2:00 pm. 7450 West Northwest Highway, Dallas, TX 75225. 214.363.5401. Jan had a great time at the 65th celebration. I will always remember twisting with her that night. She has been very active lately with friends and activiites. Please tell anyone you know that may not read this website. I will call as many as I can. Jan is with our Lord and Savior now. Please pray for her family!
Comments: It's so nice to see new faces on here! Brenda, anything with Tom Selleck is okay in my book! Mike, my husband likes Survivor, too. I agree about Gordon Ramsey. That man makes me want to never go to a restaurant. David also records the reruns of Hawaii Five-O -- the old one, not the new.
Comments: Brenda, I love survivor--can't believe they voted Jimmy Johnson off. I also like Paula Dean, Barefoot contessa & Rachel.Cannot stand gordon Ramsey(someone needs to wipe the floor with that guy, or Chopped.-They give them imposibe ingredients, little time to cook, then complain about nothing, especiallyn that judge on the far right who looks like a refugee from a taco pushcart in Juarez.
Comments: I love Criminal Minds...and I am getting into Tom Selleck's new show...Bluebloods...and guess I am the only one admitting that I am a diehard for Survivor...
Comments: NCIS, House and Friday Night Lights are my favorites on broadcast TV plus I like Diners, Drive-ins and Dives on the Food Network. |
