Comments: Barry, I am sorry about Buddy. I enjoyed your tales of her adventures.
Comments: Buddy is no longer with us. She was the victim of a botched pregnancy. I went out and called her this morning before church and she came around the corner of the house. Pretty much crawling. I gave her some water and she let me pet her. I called the vet, but they were closed. We left her under a bush and went to church. We have not been able to find her. Being wild, we assume that she crawled someplace she thought would be safe to die. She was our outside pet for over two years and she gave Joan a lot of comfort this summer while her broken wrist was on the mend. It's silly to get attached to a squirrel. She ate the heads off several sprinklers and our deck is much smaller from all her chewing, but you know it never bothered me. It was Buddy doing what squirrels do.

Comments: Gadzooks, it is hot. How did any of us make it past early childhood when there was no air conditioning in So. Oak Cliff??? I remember sleeping with the windows open and a box fan. Did rich folks have ACs? I remember when we got a window unit and all the neighbors came over and stood around in my aunts' bedroom to experience the chill. The electric bill that first month was a shocker, so that cut back on the coolness. That was about 1957.
Comments: Same here Lynell. Learned at church this morning that it rained between one to three inches all around where I live Friday and Saturday nights. Not a drop at my place. Do rainmakers still seed clouds to bring rain like they did in the big drought of the 1950s?
Comments: I'm doing the Lake Highlands rain dance. So far it is not working.
Comments: WOW! A nice rain in Arlington this evening. It was welcome relief after seven straight 100+ degree days, and seven more forecast for the next week.
Comments: Well, Jud, my date would be a most peculiar-looking dude, but he would take me to Braum's for a chocolate malt (made with German chocolate ice cream) and then we'd go to NorthPark and shop. Then we'd come back here and play Wii.
Comments: Yuck! I would be the ugliest date I've ever had...but I sure would know how to make me happy!
Comments: John that is just weird. I did like the Brad Pitt shot. Lynell, the Lopers are an interesting couple and I look forward to spending more time with them. Having bats in my belfry isn't news to anyone.
Comments: I was watching Seinfeld last night and Jerry was dating a girl who shared too many of his own personality traits. At first he was enthralled but later it turned him off because he decided that deep inside he hated himself. Did you ever wonder what it would look like if you were dating yourself? Here are some creepy examples: http://datingmyself.tumblr.com/
Comments: Martha, how nice that you got to see Gary and Cheryl Loper. Sorry to hear that you have a bat in your belfry.
Comments: Hi all you '63s out there. Here's a name that came up at the quarterly SOC Men's lunch yesterday...Susan Kay Postal, SOC '63. Anyone in touch with her pass along a hello. R. E. Hart SOC '59
Comments: Don't believe everything Sheriff Andy says. I think we as taxpayers are paying for that $750,000 Medicare Mayberry shuck & jive ad that's on TV, promoting Obamacare. Barney, wherever you are, they'll probably want you to surrender your bullet (but they'll tell you they're only borrowing it).

The Old Brickyard Golf Course 605 North I-45 • Ferris, TX 75125 • (972) 842-8700
The BMF Project was started in memory of Brandon, who drowned at Lake Ray Hubbard November 29, 2008. It was conceived by Brandon's parents and brother, as a means to make the tragedy of losing a son and brother into something positive.
The BMF Project is a 501(c)(3) public charity whose mission is to raise funding and resources for search and rescue agencies to have the necessary technology, equipment, and training to effectively perform their jobs. We support not only the groups that worked so hard during the 29 days Brandon was missing, but the goal is to help as many Search and Rescue (SAR) organizations as possible in support of their efforts. Along with this, educating the public on the water safety and hazards that many are not aware and providing emotional support to families who go through a search and rescue event are functions of The BMF Project.

Comments: I am on Face Book and Gary Loper posts a bat photo from a choir loft. I say we are having bat problems in our bell tower. He says his photo was from FUMC Crockett.....Excuse me....that is my church. We have made contact and I am having lunch with Gary and his wife tomorrow. Small World.
Comments: I ran into Karen a few years ago and she and Don were thinking about retiring to somewhere in South or Central America at that time. I hardly think she would be in Playboy, not to say she wasn't still sttractive. Photos look great from luncheon.
Comments: Bob Pettit - that is a very sweet thing to say after 47 years. May you both be blessed with health and happiness in the 47 years to come as well. Happy Anniversary.
Comments: JS: You better be careful in those "dusty" archives. I have it on good authority that "dust" is next on the EPA's list of things that they ought to control, right after CO2. If you are a farmer, they will charge you a "dust tax" when you plow your fields. Or if you have nothing planted and the wind blows, another "dust tax". Drive down a gravel road and it hasn't rained recently, another "dust tax". The EPA does this even though the federal government has no constitutional authority to do so. I guess I'm a little down on the EPA right now. A couple of months ago, we received a letter from a Houston attorney claiming that we owed $17,500 for waste oil that we disposed of by using a licensed waste hauler back in 1983-85. It appears that they traced 1200 gallons of oil from us to a waste recycler in Oklahoma City and now the facility is a Superfund site. Oh, well, I'll just send them the keys to the front door.
Comments: It looks like the '62 Guestbook is back up and running. However, I can't figure it out. Guess I lost my czarina title, huh?
Comments: Heartfelt sympathy to Ouida Kennedy Wilson in the loss of her precious 92 year old mother! Please keep her in your prayers!
Comments: Lynell is the Czarina of the Internet...just ask me...ho! Uh, Seriously John and Lynell are the gurus of the Net! I on the other hand...well, never mind!
Comments: [all credit goes to Lynell for putting me on to the dusty archives of the Dallas Morning News]
Comments: John, your DMN historical archive access has cleared things up on more than one occasion! Thank you so much...that is such a great resource!
Comments: Bob Clifton, we had a Karen Rhae Drennan in the Class of '63. A pretty, quiet, musically talented girl that lived in the same neighborhood as Mary Lewis (we're talkin' Woodacre Dr. area again). She headed to East Texas State after high school and married in Dec. of 1969 (Nancy Taylor assisted her). If this link works you'll see the details and a photo of her: http://docs.newsbank.com/s/HistArchive/ahnpdoc/EANX/0FDECB1342D2C37E/0FC00B934DD580D0
Comments: that's KNEW, not NEW...of course you already know that1 ![]()
Comments: One more note...Karen Criswell Drennan, Woodrow Wilson ’76 is now 53 years old!
Comments: 47 years ago today my young bride(LaVeta) and I were married. My LOVE for you has grown more each year and I hope we get 47 more years!!!
Comments: Karen Drennan = The story http://www.chicktalkdallas.com/blog/?tag=karen-criswell-drennan The video of Karen Drennan can be found at http://video.dallasnews.com/services/player/bcpid110125598001?bctid=309142118001 and I never new this until about 3 or 4 weeks ago, but Adrea Fleming was pictured in Playboy in 1966, though not as you might think. Never sell your integrity! I love Adrea for being the lady she was known to be! So if you ever hear whispers about her "Playboy" thing...you have the truth!
Comments: I was driving last sunday and had WBAP 820 on the radio and was kinda listening as I often do while thinking about whatever. A name from the distant past came on and my memory banks started whirring. The lady's name was Karen Drennan. I did not get all the particulars until I heard the name and what really caught my attention was that she said she was a Playboy Bunny to pay her college tuition. I remember the name and kinda remember her. Was she from your class or from '64? It's been a long time. |
