Jud, you'll get my vote should you master DC Doublespeak.  However, you'll first need to overcome your decent upbringing and life to this point.

"The union that represents rank-and-file field agents at U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement has unanimously passed a "vote of no confidence" for the agency's leadership, saying ICE has "abandoned" its core mission of protecting the public to support a political agenda favoring amnesty."

You'd better sign up for that Spanish class!

Charlotte:

Joan has her last doctor's visit today and two more PT sessions.  She still has a limited range of motion in her wrist and has not been allowed to pick up any weight.  School starts next Monday, so she doesn't have much more recovery time.  To make things worse, she was driving her prized Mini on Saturday and some kid ran into the car while she was stopped.  She got out of the car and was giving the kid (21 yr old) a severe tongue lashing when some woman standing on the corner said "You can't talk to him like that-he's not your child".  Joan informed her that it was none of her business and she would talk to him any way she wanted.  You don't mess with those 4th grade teachers.  I'm just glad I wasn't driving it.  I really don't know if I would go home or not!

Oh,Barry, I am so sorry to learn about Buddy!  I, too, enjoyed your stories about her. I hope she goes quickly and painlessly.  Those photos are wonderful.  Thanks for posting them.  I think the life span of a squirrel is under 10 years.  We had a great mother squirrel at our ranch who was not afraid of us either.  We knew her for about 5 years.  We never held her but it was fun to see her lolling on the steps in the shade of our car barn just watching us come and go.  We put out the deer corn for her and her babies.  She always had huge litters of babies.  She would move them around the ranch as she pleased..she was not even concerned with our dogs.

How is Joan by the way?  Mended?

Did you see the breaking news on "Survivor:Nicaragua"?

The oldest participant will be 67 yr. old Jimmy Johnson, famous as the late night spokesperson for the ExtenZe product. Oh, and he coached football somewhere way back when.

This time around it will be the Old vs the Young. Jimmy's team will be ages 40 and up. The other tribe will be age 30 and younger.

My money is on the youngsters.

Barry I'm so sorry about Buddy!!  I've enjoyed reading about your adventures with her.  You & Joan are compassionate people & you are my hero for catching her & taking her to the Vet when she was hurt!!!  I know you will miss her, but maybe her babies will be her legacy & will stay around your back yard.  You are a good guy Barry!

Buddy is no longer with us.  She was the victim of a botched pregnancy.  I went out and called her this morning before church and she came around the corner of the house.  Pretty much crawling.  I gave her some water and she let me pet her.  I called the vet, but they were closed.  We left her under a bush and went to church.  We have not been able to find her.  Being wild, we assume that she crawled someplace she thought would be safe to die.  She was our outside pet for over two years and she gave Joan a lot of comfort this summer while her broken wrist was on the mend.  It's silly to get attached to a squirrel.  She ate the heads off several sprinklers and our deck is much smaller from all her chewing, but you know it never bothered me.  It was Buddy doing what squirrels do.

Gadzooks, it is hot.  How did any of us make it past early childhood when there was no air conditioning in So. Oak Cliff???  I remember sleeping with the windows open and a box fan.  Did rich folks have ACs?  I remember when we got a window unit and all the neighbors came over and stood around in my aunts' bedroom to experience the chill.  The electric bill that first month was a shocker, so that cut back on the coolness.  That was about 1957.

Same here Lynell.  Learned at church this morning that it rained between one to three inches all around where I live Friday and Saturday nights.  Not a drop at my place.  Do rainmakers still seed clouds to bring rain like they did in the big drought of the 1950s?

Well, Jud, my date would be a most peculiar-looking dude, but he would take me to Braum's for a chocolate malt (made with German chocolate ice cream) and then we'd go to NorthPark and shop.  Then we'd come back here and play Wii.

John that is just weird.  I did like the Brad Pitt shot.  Lynell, the Lopers are an interesting couple and I  look forward to spending more time with them.  Having bats in my belfry isn't news to anyone.

I was watching Seinfeld last night and Jerry was dating a girl who shared too many of his own personality traits. At first he was enthralled but later it turned him off because he decided that deep inside he hated himself. Did you ever wonder what it would look like if you were dating yourself?

Here are some creepy examples:

Don't believe everything Sheriff Andy says.  I think we as taxpayers are paying for that $750,000 Medicare Mayberry shuck & jive ad that's on TV, promoting Obamacare.  Barney, wherever you are, they'll probably want you to surrender your bullet (but they'll tell you they're only borrowing it).

The BMF Project was started in memory of Brandon, who drowned at Lake Ray Hubbard November 29, 2008. It was conceived by Brandon's parents and brother, as a means to make the tragedy of losing a son and brother into something positive.

The BMF Project is a 501(c)(3) public charity whose mission is to raise funding and resources for search and rescue agencies to have the necessary technology, equipment, and training to effectively perform their jobs. We support not only the groups that worked so hard during the 29 days Brandon was missing, but the goal is to help as many Search and Rescue (SAR) organizations as possible in support of their efforts. Along with this, educating the public on the water safety and hazards that many are not aware and providing emotional support to families who go through a search and rescue event are functions of The BMF Project.

I ran into Karen a few years ago and she and Don were thinking about retiring to somewhere in South or Central America at that time.  I hardly think she would be in Playboy, not to say she wasn't still sttractive.

Photos look great from luncheon.

JS:  You better be careful in those "dusty" archives.  I have it on good authority that "dust" is next on the EPA's list of things that they ought to control, right after CO2.  If you are a farmer, they will charge you a "dust tax" when you plow your fields.  Or if you have nothing planted and the wind blows, another "dust tax".  Drive down a gravel road and it hasn't rained recently, another "dust tax".

The EPA does this even though the federal government has no constitutional authority to do so.

I guess I'm a little down on the EPA right now.  A couple of months ago, we received a letter from a Houston attorney claiming that we owed $17,500 for waste oil that we  disposed  of by using a licensed waste hauler back in 1983-85.  It appears that they traced 1200 gallons of oil from us to a waste recycler in Oklahoma City and now the facility is a Superfund site.  Oh, well,  I'll just send them the keys to the front door.
