Comments: Just got the computer back from the Baylor Trauma Center. I've been without one for a week or so. Jud, I'll think of a lively topic or two. By the way Jud, Chere Houck is also a cousin, as was Travis Fitzgerald from '63. My grandmother on Mom's side was a Houck. Now I'm off to check on that SOC '62 Guestbook and see how its "repairs" are coming.
Comments: Um, to tell you the truth.........I don't recall. ha ha I didn't kiss many boys unless I was "going steady". If there are those of you out there who can contradict me then lets hear it!
Comments: Strange One, that it funny! There is a whole series of those videos for cat lovers. And, by the way, you sidestepped the kissing question.
Comments: Let's see, dress was cotton -- a blue and purple floral with dark green leaves, a fitted bodice, full skirt and sash made of blue and green solid fabric; Shalimar perfume; my friend Katherine was the lucky recipient of the details. I guess maybe it was a real kiss. No music, because that was inside the house. Spin the Bottle kisses were executed on the front porch of the prairie style house.
Comments: If you remember it after all these years, it was real enough. What were you wearing? Your perfume? Who were you dying to kiss but didn't get the chance? What song was playing? What girlfriend did you rush home to tell about it?
Comments: Precisely why we don't keep baseball bats lying around.
Comments: This is off the subject of first kisses, but I was just sent this and you cat lovers will love it and relate! Hilarious! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w0ffwDYo00Q
Comments: Third grade. Fredda Mitchell. It might not have been a real kiss because I had to chase her on the playground at Elisha M. Pease and tackle her. I'm sure there was a dare involved. She will deny that it ever happened!
Comments: Maybe that wasn't a "real" kiss though.
Comments: Wayne Lambert, at a party at Judy Wilkins' grandmother's house on Clinton Street, seventh grade. Spin the bottle.
Comments: John, I have absolutely no memories of Mary. I looked her up in the '63 Den...and I didn't know her at all. Lucky for you. If I had known her, it would have been me kissing her, not you. Anyone else remember their first real kiss? Mine was either Gaylan Williams, Chere Houck, or Sharlene Houghtaling. I'm a little fuzzy on the timing.
Comments: John, her face was soooooooooo familiar, but I just couldn't put a name to her darlin face. I went to Boude Storey so I guess I just didn't know her well enough to remember her. She was such a cutie...we did wear those short shorts didn't we? I wish I could today, but Alas...NOT! HA HA.....She sure knew how to pose didn't she?. She is such a doll and you have your first kiss to remember!!!!
Comments: Wow, not a one of you could name the mystery girl I posted? The pic was of a young Mary Frances Lewis. Those of you from my old neighborhood might recall that she lived right next door to Jan Fincher. Uh, anybody remember Jan Fincher? Mary went thru Zumwalt and SOC with those of us who, uh, went to Zumwalt and SOC. Again, a big thanks to Dennis Wilson ('62) for providing the old photo and stirring up some old memories.
Comments: For anyone who plans to party down with the young people of the Class of '65, I added a link to the registration form on the Events page. A belated thank you to Peaches and Mary Kay for hosting the luncheon Saturday at BJ's. I wish I had another baked potato with grilled chicken, broccoli, cheese and Alfredo sauce. That's considered a vegetable, you know.
Comments: Good Morning all. Lynell, you are so proficient - I think you already have the information on your Events page - unless you want to move it up on the postings since the luncheon at BJs is now history. Anyone can obtain a registration form on the www.soc65.com site and mail in their form and money. We would love to have a large group of people show up from all the classes. As we continue to mature, there can never be anough time to still share time together. Hope many of you can make it. Have a great week everyone and try to stay cool. Yikes, it is hot out there!
Comments: All you lady Mad Men fans, put on your toreador pants and button-up-the-back cashmere cardigans with cute white cotton pique collars, (turn the AC way down first) and mix up that pitcher of Tom and Jerrys. Sip one while you put Luckies on every flat surface in your rumpus room. You fellows should wear suit pants, a thin tie (loosened,) and a white broadcloth shirt. It's a little over one hour till showtime!
Comments: Cynthia, thank you for your nice words. Everyone looked great, but you and I happened to discuss WW, so that's why I mentioned you in particular. I totally understand how easy it is to gain and how hard it is to get those pounds to go away. John, my mother would have KILLED me for having a picture like that made, so you know 'twasn't I. Plus, she is way cuter than I ever was. Can't believe you're clamming up about Chelsea's wedding. BTW, I invited Barbra to my wedding and she was a no-show there also. She missed out on some fine punch and cookies. There's going to be a big turnout for the '65 reunion. Cynthia, if you'll send me a file and an invite, I'll post it on our Events page.
Comments: Well John, you have me stumped. Thanks for sharing the photos Lynell. They came out realy nice. Thanks for your compliments as well on the wieght lose. You are so kind. I think there were a couple more folks looking a little slimmer as well - Peaches, Mary Kay and Martha to name a few. Looking good ladies! By the way, I handed out some registration forms yesterday. The class of 65 sincerely would love to have you join the upcoming activities over Labor Day weekend as we celebrate 45 years since our graduation. Please try to get your reservations into the mail by August 16th so we can count you in for the fun.
Comments: I can't comment on Chelsea's wedding, but I did receive a surprise in my email box this weekend. Dennis Wilson ('62) found an old photo in his ROTC footlocker and sent it along to me. We both had a romantic interest in this girl. She was my "first kiss" at about age 13 or 14 (the time when this photo was made). Can any of you identify her? ![]()
Comments: So sorry to hear about David Splawn's wife. Every day we wake up in the morning is a true gift. I hope she rallies very soon. That's so hard for a family to go through. Southworth, how about a report on Chelsea's wedding? I know that's why we haven't heard from you for a few days. Don't miss the luncheon pictures on the Images page.
Comments: Thank you so much Gaylan.
Comments: What I love about SOC 63...I love this one thing more than anything else...Your classmates ALL come here to offer whatever they can for the good of ALL and no one...not one...tries to act as the Big Kahuna...the one with all the keys to the kingdom so to speak. You each speak for yourselves...it's not "we, many, others, all, most or everyone" as if anyone of you tries to speak for the group. You are enviable in that respect and it is so refreshing! Keep up the good work~!
Comments: I just wanted to let everyone know who is on the Soc 63 site that David Splawn called me on Friday and let me know that his wife, Renee, is in a coma and has had several epileptic seizures. I know he would appreciate any prayers and good wishes you could send his way. She has been in the hospital about 10 days I believe. His address is 1617 Tawakoni Lane, Plano, Texas 75075. His cell phone is 972-757-0590. Please keep David and his family in your prayers. He said that she has opened her eyes a few times in the last couple of days and that they have been able to take her off one of the blood pressure medicines so that is some progress. The problem is that they have her on 4 different anti-seizure medications and can't seem to get them under control. She does still have brain activity, however, she is still having seizures. Needless to say, he is very distraught and I know he would appreciate any cards, calls, etc from his SOC friends. He does not have an email but you can also leave a message at his home phone--972-578-2479
Comments: That's a good lookin' group at yesterday's luncheon. Who is responsible for scaring up Sharon Casey and Loyd Reynolds ('62)? I had to think a moment to place Loyd, then remembered he had a twin brother - Boyd.
Comments: I've posted the pictures I took at yesterday's luncheon on the Images page. Just click the top button. Lonnies pictures are also posted, mostly after mine. I see I got James Anthony's ponytail pic in with the first part -- I'm computer challenged today! Many thanks to Lonnie Harmon for sending his pictures to me, and for supplying names! Phil, the heat has gotten to you, dear heart. I said Jake's on Skillman! Obviously it has been too long since you've had an order of Jumpin' Jake fries!
Comments: I must respectfully disagree with Lynell, 'Jakes 'original location is on Skillman.
Comments: Charlotte, I just changed my FB profile. I'm now a 105 y.o. male with absolutely no interests Can't wait to see the spam this brings on. Offshore brides, investment opportunities??? Facebook is a little creepy. It was great to see everyone at the luncheon today. I'd guess there were 35 present, including the ever-beautiful Brenda Kemp. She is precious, and the two of us enjoyed some laughs about Barney, who was the funniest guy who ever was. Good for you, Brenda, for braving all those toll booths to get to Addison. I took a bunch of pictures and will upload them when I get through painting some stuff in my home office. BTW, Cynthia looks fab. She is so svelte. So are many others. It was good to see everyone. Lonnie, I was rockin' all the way home!
Comments: Wow, JS. That does look good. No pix, but my burger of choice at Dutch's is the Bacon, Bleu Cheese with either their hand-cut fries or the huge onion rings (hard choice). There is a place in Dallas that's touted as the best - The Twisted Root, but I've never eaten there. Any of you Dallas folks been there?
Comments: In our neck o' the woods, Beck's Prime makes a tasty (albeit expensive)hamburger, and they have the BEST fries in town. But for a good 'ol fashioned, reasonably priced burger you can't beat Mel's Country Diner on the western border of The Woodlands and Tomball (see pic below): ![]()
Comments: Just read this: Skull Security offers up 100 million FB profiles to anybody. My fave hamburger right now is from my country club in Houston...old fashioned and seasoned perfectly with buns toasted on the grill. Oh, the fries are Terrific to! Don't usually get hamburgers out at restaurants so that is about it......except for making my own. |
