Ever the free thinking radical instigator, I see that while laying down the rules for Southworth63.com, John was immediately in violation... he used the word "kosher" and it was not Saturday!

John, Is Lena Franklin related to Jerry and Donna? I met Donna some years ago at the party the Houston SOCites gave. You were one of the hosts.

Kathleen, NO EXCEPTIONS!

Plus, I forgot to add "No Smiley Faces".

On August 10, 1963 Robert Badgett married the beautiful Lena Franklin ('62) at Fernwood Baptist Church. Robert lived across the street from me on Calcutta Drive. Another of our neighbors (Gary Stephens) was the best man.

Later Badgett & Franklin divorced. Robert now lives in Costa Rica, a little country between Nicaragua and Panama.

I am getting confused. So who did Robert Badgett marry? John, I liked your guestbook rules except Lynell is going to be upset about not being able to discuss her kitties and Barry, his pet squirrel. You might consider issuing a couple of exceptions especially in the case of guest book czarina, Lynell.

My mistake dawned on me, so I got on here to see how many had caught the mistake.  Sorry about that.  Robert Badgett graduated with the great class of '62.  Robert Pettit is married to Robert Badgett....wait, he's married to LaVeta.  It's partsheimers, but sometimes I'm okay.  It's this new programming on here since Ginger anointed John with ownership that has me confused.  John, the political timeslot may interfere with NASCAR racing.  Any flexibility in the schedule?

Sam you are thinking of a Robert but the wrong one....... Robert Pettit from our class is who you are thinking of.  yep...old age IS taking it's toll (on all of us)!  haaaaaaaa!!

Wonder what our Guest Book Czarina thinks of John's schedule...seems like a bunch of unsolicited work for her.
Just sayin!

John, I didn't know Ginger had the authority to assign ownership here, but I truly love your schedule!  I'm just thinkin' 3 hours for downers is a bit much...as for Robert Badgett...he is from SOC '62...and we whole heartedly claim him...Laveta, also from SOC '62 did marry well,  but she didn't marry Robert Badgett! Old age takes it's toll!

Robert Badgett is married to LaVeta Sanders (SOC '62).  I thought he graduated in '63 or '64.

That's very funny,  John... You worked long and hard to come up with that list.. I do like the idea of deleting everything after 1:00 PM on Saturday..

No  MMM....It can't be..?  . What fun you will be missing...

Question:  Does anyone know a Robert Badgett...?  I just deleted him from FB..

Since Ginger has generously given me this website, here are MY new rules regarding Guestbook topics ... what's kosher and what ain't:

okay = music, literature, art, movies, hot babe news
not okay = MMM

okay - discussions of most pets or animals
not okay - cats & squirrels

okay - kids, grandkids, spouses, parents, teachers
not okay - Adamson & Sunset trivia

okay - sports
not okay - recipes

okay - autos, boats, fishing, gambling
not okay - coupons, shopping tips, cute tops

okay - really clever nicknames and aliases (I'll decide what's clever or not)($25 usage fee applies)
not okay - posting under another's name

okay only on Saturdays 9am to noon - anonymous posts
okay only on Saturdays noon to 3pm - politics
okay only on Sundays noon to 3pm - religion
okay only on Sundays 3pm to 6pm - downer stuff (illness etc)

SO - if you don't want to be exposed to political chatter, don't show up on Saturdays. You want to rant and rave anonymously - be there early on Saturday and post away [after which, it will be deleted at 1:00pm]. This makes it simple for everybody.

What is this, Pick-a-Topic?  Should we vote on what topics can be discussed.  That's not very American.  Oops, I'm sorry!  If it's Johnny's website, he gets to pick the topics.  I'm thoroughly confused!!

There's 'intentional stuff' being posted.. Linda J.. will not be back..
suggestion:...Any kind of announcement for the most part, works...If one is going to a Republican or Democrat Rally.. Good .. Cheer them on.. If one is attending a Catholic or Buddhist convention.. I'm glad they are involved.. Whether it's my bumper sticker or a Harley Davidson....it's okay.. We've all got our likes and dislikes.. We've all got to refrain from being hurtful and disrespectful with each other..
We have some wonderful discussions on here..and we seem to be all alive..!
Let's keep the great discussion going without running off our 'little old classmates'...

Isn't it amazing what folks can read into what one posts?

We should always think before we post.  But, even THEN one is not guaranteed a clear translation of what we meant on the other end.   I am guilty of posting without thinking and wooowee......that can stir up a firestorm that can rain down on your head for sure.  "Been there done that" comes to mind..heh heh!

My disposals rubber part does NOT come out and I hate that...eeeeeuuuuuw...they gets so yucky on the under side.

Having seen all the grandchildren mentioned here before on Face Book, I know they are all soooooooooo gorgeous, precious, smarter than anyone and special!

Ginger, I'm not talking about limiting topics.  As long as posters sign their names, anything they want to talk about is fine with me.  Anon posts will be deleted.  Realism is fine.

There was no mention that this was JS's website.  He, like all friends of '63, is always welcome, and if the talk is about politics, that's fine, too.

Lynell, Don't just limit it... to John's stuff...like it's his website... I think it's allright to tell you about one of my Methodist ministers going to Buford Pusser's town...Walking Tall fame.. Also any history,, confederate or otherwise.. We travel, we're educated.. We like JS...the 'shorts' thing is funny and we can all 'chime in'...and laugh...but it's not just John Southworth's website... We learn a lot about each other on this website.. Our 'obsessiveness' gets old... Really old.  We've got Facebook, too, and we can always email.. I do.. A Blog for some people would be good.. I've been on a few temporarily but I don't make that a habit...
I don't like anonymous 'anything'...As I told Kathleen, that is way out of my honesty zone, and I especially wouldn't appreciate it if..someone was using my name....      Not just 'nonsense' but realism with an occasional announcement or story is good..

Maybe, just maybe, a personal blog would be a better venue to air political stuff than a high school website.  Get your own following.  Political comments irk, to say the very least, those who feel differently about politics.

I know I am being redundant here, but NOBODY IS GOING TO MAKE ANY CONVERTS AMONG A GROUP OF 65-YEAR-OLDs (give or take a year.)

As for me, I'd prefer to read stuff about JS's new Jorts, how his grandson is walking now, how cute Jud and Bill's granddaughters are, and -- I'm looking into the future here -- how much trouble Jud's having figuring out his new iPhone software.

I'm trying to ignore the 'obsessive' speeches that occur on this site.. I personally don't want to respond to them anymore.. It 'runs' very nice people off the site that actually graduated in 63...

 Can we please stop this....??

"As I have repeatedly stated, Barack Obama is a threat to the continued existence of the United States, and he must be impeached, or resign. The real question is, what will we replace his bad policies with? Real patriots understand the need to think ahead, to create a meaningful purpose and direction as we rebuild our nation. We know that the next several generations need a better world to live in, which can only be a Post-Obama World."  Cousin Johnny, that ain't a quote from some right winger.  That's from Kesha Rogers, Democrat candidate for Congress, from Texas 22.  That includes Sugarland, Pearland, Pasadena and La Marque.   Can't you get those Dems under control down there?  Where's the chloroform?

I'm sure you can use the Badger to shorten the hem on your new shorts.  Just make sure you take them off first!  You will be amazed at how fast it will do the job.  Remember to hold on tight so they don't get shortened too much.
