JS, that Badger is the same bad boy we have.  The rubber flap thing is removable.  You'll love that.  You'll want to grind up your food and then go out to eat, it's so much fun.

Ginger, I don't believe the Adamson folks would be amused.  Still awaiting my $19 M, by the way.

The 1/3 horsepower unit is for those with major food waste, or with high expectations of what their disposal should be able to accomplish.  It'll last 20 years if your eyes are not bigger than your stomach, and you can better cope with leftovers.  Just tips I picked up from Paula Deen, though she doesn't seem to enjoy the smaller portions.

Don't tell Dru, but later today she's getting a badger for her birthday.

To be precise it is the 1/3 hp "Badger 1" model of In-sinkeator's line of garbage disposal units.

The former unit lasted over 14 years, but time and rust and chicken bones and spoons finally took their toll.

I hope the plumber gets here early because I plan to knock off at 4:45 to celebrate the Summer Solistice.

We did make use of those short shorts when we were in High School...didn't we..?
I'm not exactly 'Frumpy' like some women but it would be too, too 'tacky' for a 65 yr old woman to dress like that.. I wear a pony tail quite often...That's about as 'high school-ly',  as I'm going to get..

Have a lovely Monday...SOC63 and Friends...!

(Lynell, if you have been on the Adamson site...you know I told them to come read what you said about buying the Adamson building...!)   I think that is so funny... You come up with some good ones...Lynell..  SOC Annex is pretty funny...

Back to the real world after a great Lakeway weekend. Sam, I agree...I think it's terrific that we have so many strong, differing opinions expressed on the site. We're all probably too far gone to change our ideology, but it's fun to have the discussions. I fail to see any racism expressed on the site, but I don't doubt that we are all somewhat impacted by that. Look at when we grew up!
And John, please listen to Lynell...no short shorts!

I'm addressing Linda J.'s post wherein she declares her political liberalism, and says she's removing SOC '63 as a favorite on her computer.  Linda, I likewise find no reference to you being called unpatriotic.  Whereas, the fact that others have wrongly called conservatism "racist", or made the equally un-profound statements that the cold war is over and there are no communists, this country was none-the-less founded on diverse thought.  Not reading something that suits your political persuasion seems like a trite reason to leave the site, but that's the beauty of living in a free country.  I personally have no issues with someone wanting to declare themselves politically liberal.  What I take issue with is those who obviously want a different form of government here than we have.  Too many have served, fought and died to preserve our Constitution for me personally to accept that ideology.  This website is but a microcosm of the freedoms we have.  In this case, sign your name, don't use foul language, and take personal issues with another off the site.....and post.   I think everyone, myself included, hopes the flow of the site will include nostalgia (even princess phones), what's going on in people's live, politics, religion and many other topics.  Not reading something you politically disgree with....and therefore leaving, seems to be a minor reason to leave a forum you've obviously enjoyed as I earlier stated, but even coming and going as you please is an expression of those same freedoms (so long as the federal government doesn't try to control the internet, as it's attempting).  Everyone have a great day.

Your comments are duly noted, however, I never think of Terry as having short legs, I just think of him as that guy who can ride like the dickens! Yes, I never quite had the stirrups where they felt comfortable. Boone was  very  kind to a rank amateur.

Haaaaaaaa, Phil.....remember? Terry has very short legs...he buys shorts he likes and then has them cut off to a length he likes...I'm sure it is all a personal decision. Kind of like adjusting those stirrups for your legs when you rode my saddle!!! :0)

Alter mens shorts? Is there a correct length for guys? I am not a fashionista, but thought men just bought shorts they liked?  Is there supposed to be so many inches above the knees?

Been there and done that, Bill.. We stayed at Pickwick State Park with friends one year,  at Thanksgiving.. We saw the 'Battlefield', while there..What was also astounding was that the Union soldiers had individual graves, while the Confederate soldiers were buried in one big grave... Punishment for seceding from the Union, and being the enemy..  My Great-Great Grandfather fought at both Battles of Bull Run...He was wounded..Had a musket ball lodged in his elbow and was sent home.. He was in Hood's Brigade...Of course, Hood's Brigade and others went on to fight the Battle of Nashville.. They had to tie John B. Hood on the horse..he had lost an arm and a leg, I believe..His headquarters was in an ante-bellum mansion, close to 8th street and blocks from where we lived...
Of course, if my grandfather had not returned to Texas, he may not have lived and then I wouldn't be here now... Same with the Grt-Grt-Grt Grandfather who died in the Texas Revolution...He had a son before he went off to fight, that's why I'm here..
                          Could have been gone...twice...!

Great Grandfather's name was Reuben Hood Hopson...

Adamsville is also very close to the Shiloh Battlefield, one of the finest National Parks/Civil War Battlefields. There is a spot there, The Bloody Pond, that after reading the story will break down the hardest of hearts.

Lynell....Where's my Jorts...?  I see you-all have been busy today.. I've been.....gone all day.. Everybody's stayed 'out of trouble', so far, I see..
I have an announcement.. We have lost one of our pastors at Christ UMC to Adamsville, Tn (McNairy County).. That would be Dr. Toni Watson.. She's is now a pastor at a Methodist church in Adamsville.. Now ya'll (Texas Talk for you-all) won't relate to that but..... Adamsville, Tn is the home of the 'one and only' Buford Pusser..!
Remember "Walking Tall"...? Or the expression, "Walk tall and carry a big stick..!"
Dr. Toni was in the Chancel choir and when she didn't have 'Pastoral Duties' she sang with us... We sent her off to Adamsville with a Baseball Bat...on Wednesday night.. We didn't want her to be unprepared...She also had some kind of certificate that said she was taking Buford Pusser's place.. I think he has gone to the Big Sheriff Heaven in the Sky...You never know when a Methodist Pastor especially a Female Methodist Pastor needs a big stick, er...a baseball bat..!

Also, I wanted to announce to Barry....that I'm going to the 'Hands Across the Sand' on June 26, down at Old Man River(Miss. R.)  Also, Barry I have a small Yoga Bumper Sticker to add to my rear bumper...and I'm dedicating it in your name..

Sam, brother Jaroslaw is running on the conservative ticket.

One benefit in electing Jaroslaw is that all those photos of the late President now hanging in hundreds of government offices won't have to be replaced since Jaroslaw is an identical twin.

A (political) Father's Day Tale:

Today, June 20, is election day in Poland where they are trying to elect a new President to replace Lech Kaczynski. One of the candidates in the running is Jaroslaw Kaczynski who is the identical twin of his brother Lech (who died in an April plane crash - hence, the required election).

In Polish culture one is not considered to be a "Man" until:

-- you've built a house
-- begun a family, and
-- have a son

This is presenting a problem for the campaign of brother Jaroslaw who at age 59 is single and lives with his cat in his ailing mother's home.

I consulted my Magic 8-Ball and the prediction is "Signs point to no".

OK, Bill. I'll concede that Elizabeth ranks up there alongside Emmerson. But there is no more room at the top.
Wow, Lynell! You and I have broken the bank of England. As soon as Barrister Donnelly receives my banking info he's arranging for me to collect £23.000,000. But remember that Bill Gates is calling on us to share our booty. Oh wait, so is Obama. Maybe if we just adopt JS, that will suffice.

$19M would buy JS several pair of Jorts (Jean shorts to those not up on fashionista talk).

And Jud, please cease and desist about your grandkid. Don't make me have to come down there and smack you back into reality. You obviously have not seen Elizabeth!

Happy Father's Day to all the good daddies of the world!

I just received great news via e-mail from Barrister Chang Han.  In part, it says, "I am contacting you to request your permission to present you as the recipient to my late patron. He has a deposit of (US$19,000,000)."  That will pay a lot of squirrel vet bills!

John and Barry, I wish someone would teach squirrels to quit running in front of cars. Most squirrels seem to just dart out into the traffic without any thought of what could happen to them. It is amazing how most of them manage to get to the other side without injury.

Charlotte, don't mind me.  I'm just mad all over again about having to cough up two months' worth of Mad Magazine money to buy a book for civics class.

Isn't it nice that clothing is now made to accomodate those of us who are long of leg?  I used to let out hems of jeans, sew on embroidered braid at the bottom, etc.  Now, I'm afraid I have to let out jeans in a different direction.
