Thanks Lynell, Cynthia and Sam for the printer recommendations. Cynthia, I kept my beautiful grand daughter tonight. The older she gets, the prettier she is getting. Her dark hair is now curly and she really stands out with her blue eyes. I hate to brag, but I think she is the sweetest, smartest baby in the whole world. What is so nice about grand children is that you don't have the responsibility that you did as parents and you can just enjoy them.

Hummm - will have to look them up when I have to buy again.  I have been buying the brand stuff and it is just not cheap and rarely runs on sale.  I did find that Costco sell the HP products and that is a savings over anyone else.

Well, blush - now that I am at home and can look at the other printer - I was right the first time.  It is an Epson.  Isn't age wonderful?  I can see it now.  In a couple of years everyone will have to remind me that we all went to SOC.  Do not like this age thing or Alzheimer - whichever come first!

Cynthia, you are so right about ink prices.  That stuff is $10,000 a gallon!  I buy ink online at Inksmile.com and I've been happy with it.  Not sure if it will last 100 years though!

Kathleen,

I would think it is very subjective.  I have always had good results from HP products.  I currently have a 4 in 1 that I like but it has given me a moment or two in the last 4 years.  Seems if I do not turn it off, all remains well.  However, if you are wanting to print photos of your beautiful granddaughter - forget it.  I did not find quality and longevity to the prints.

For photos, I got an Epson which is supposed to print either 50 or 100 year photos.  They do come out beautiful but I do not print a whole lot of them so I cannot tell you a lot about the long term on them.  I just know my HP prints did fade over time.

The trick on printers - what do you want out it in the way materials you wish to print?  they come relatively inexpensive these days but the ink will send you screaming if you use a lot of it.

Best wishes on the new printer.

Cynthia

Kathleen, I've had good luck with Canons, for what that's worth.  I have an old HP laser printer that has printed 600,000 pages.  You can also go online to someplace like Epinions.com and read reviews from users.

Can any of you recommend a good printer to buy for my computer? I have bought about five of them over the years. Mostly, the printers came with the computer. It seems that every time I need to use the printer it isn't working and can't be fixed. Am I just unlucky when it comes to printers or is there a problem with printers in general?

Well it looks like the Class of '62 is surrounded by refinement, sophistication, bologna and chopped liver.  Take your pick.  I feel better already.  Hold the pickles with that!

Kathleen, all us '63ers are sophisticated and suave.

I'm up here in Colorado visiting Charlotte at her snazzy new place.  Mess with her, and you take on the whole trailer park.

Sam, I think that was Lynell's reply to Dodi's comment about the '60 website "having refinement." I am sure Lynell thinks we are sophisticated.
Right Lynell.

Betty, I'm glad you showed up here.  Lynell said the site needed some sophistication.  So, Lynell, what about Ginger, Kathleen, Peaches, Martha, Charlotte, Southw (never mind), are they chopped liver?  I come over here sometimes just to bask in the sophistication of SOC '63rs.............then I start yawning and go back to the '62 site for a lesson in, in, in........never mind.

I just visited the '62 site. Don't go often. And oh my, it's here too. This is an amazing phenomenon. Wonder what started all this stuff? I keep telling all my friends here how close my high school group is. But maybe not. My parents weren't the sort to preach at us, but one sentence I remember is: 'if you can't say something nice about someone you don't need to say anything at all." Still wisdom. Everything doesn't need to be an issue, and if I try to make it one, then I'm probably the issue.

Loved Sam's comment about "body snatchers" on the '64 site. He's correct. We don't use the site for communicating as much as others. Facebook and private text messages seem to have replaced it. But we are very close and keep up with each other.

Awesome site. Great job!
So this is Pollyanna signing off for now. Love you all.

Dodi, I just e-mailed you with the info you asked for.  Nice to see you here.  We could use some sophistication!  I know you could write a book about little Danny.

Charlotte, check around a moose if you want to see yellow snow.

It's been awhile since I asked for help in locating our classmate, Sharon Melton & at the suggestion for several of you I've e-mailed Lynette for more info.  I appreciate all your help & thank you for responding.  The class of '60 may be older, but we got refinement!  We've been having internet connection problems here in central LA so I haven't been able to check back until this AM.  Read a lot of interesting posts before making it back far enough to see the responses to my inquiry.  You guys are an interesting bunch.  Seems the war with '62 has been resolved, the weather has improved, & John Southworth & others survived another birthday - more accomplishments than Congress can claim!  Someone asked what it was like having Danny for a 'lil brother.  He was much the same as today - a prankster & a nut!  We laughed a lot.  But he could be sneaky - or maybe I could just be dumb.  "Hey, DD, loan me a couple of dollars so I don't have to break my 10."  "Loan me a dollar so I don't have to break my 5."  It wasn't long before little Miss Slow realized he owed me $20 & finally cut him off. Shoud have charged him interest.  So watch him!

Is Lent over soon?  I miss John S....is it Good Friday???  Maybe just one more week?

Happy birthday sweet Suzanne Black!  Hope all is well with you and yours.  How is Mike by the way?  Hope you are both doing well!

I am in CO and it is Mud Season.....snow is melting and dirty snow is everywhere....but still a great place to be!  At least the snow is not yellow...........haaaaaaaaaaaa!!  The mountains are still covered.  It is the low land down here in the valley (about 7000 ft above sea level) that has melted areas.  The trailer parks don't look as pretty as they did in Jan.  ha ha!  Snow makes everything look better..............even me! haaaa!!

Good for you, Sam.  A person needs to be of a certain age to know who JBF was.  If you send me your routing number, I'll forward it to that deposed Nigerian prince who wants mine, too.  We'll all be rich!  There are zillions in an unclaimed account, he says.

Okay, Phil has apparently yielded back the balance of his time.  Wait, that's in Congress!  He obviously doesn't know that John Beresford Tipton was the benefactor on the TV show "The Millionaire" who gave away a $1M each week.   Lynell, just email me for routing instructions to my account!

Phil, that's John Beresford Tipton.  Extra points for you, my friend, if you know who that is.  Unfortunately, you will owe me a million dollars, which I figure is worth about 75 cents American.
