Martha, you may be onto something.  Stop forwarding good luck e-mails.  I've heard that they are intended to gather e-mail addresses.  Remember chain letters of old?  There was always a priest in a foreign country who failed to forward the letter and immediately fell off a mountain.

What a great night.  Met three couples for dinner at the club.  They were very busy tonight.   However, I turned my order in early in the evening.  The entire table was served and well into their meals when I was served.  When bill came.....none for me....they comped my martini, glass of wine and dinner and I haven't even forwarded one of those threatening emails about luck.  Thank you anyway.

Didn't John post a false birthday last year.  Is this his birthday or unbirthday?

Since I was asked by John not to post his birthday on this website, I will not sing to him. You missed out, John.

Happy B-day to JS!!   Although he can't respond back, I know he is enjoying the heck outta Dru's yellow cake with chocolate icing!!  That's his favorite!  I know he's given up posting on any of the GBs & on FB for Lent.  I shudder to think what he will be like when he returns . .. !

Did John not give up his computer for Lent?  Maybe it was just FB.  Happy Birthday young man.  Guess you are about 62.  That is how old my sister from '66 is.  Miss your posts.

I think I failed to enter my last name in my last post---I included only my last initial.  I think the purpose of the post was to relay the e-mail address of John Elliott and whereabouts of Pat Newman to someone requesting the information.  I provided same, but I think I failed to include John's last name and I referred to Pat by his lifelong nickname.  Now, what was I saying...

Who would have thought that with four inches of snow on the ground two days ago, it'd be warm enough to sit outside and read a magazine?  This must be TEXAS.

It's not about being right or wrong...it's about maintaining one's dignity when someone is belittling your intelligence or talking down to you as if you are somehow inferior to them. Not only is that inappropriate guest book manners, it is generally unacceptable behavior. None of us need little "childhood" quips to understand our rights of dignity and self defense! But....."turn about is fair play"!

Sweet Tanya....you call it "bullying and stomping down" when one defends against arrogance and insults? Those who put themselves in that position aren't vicitims, they are provokateurs! Period...They think they are smarter than those they are trying to "cut on"....when they get "bested" they run home and cry like a little child.  It doesn't equal an innocent child who has done nothing becoming a target of meanness...It's the difference between apples and oranges, so I'd say your vision is a bit cloudy! Just tryin' to keep it real here! The application of guest book etiquette is a two way street!

Hello Sam, just felt the need to put in my 2 cents, for what it is worth.  Personally I don't call that previous commotion lively, I call it bullying, and stomping one down.  It's not fun being on the other end.  Bullying is a big problem in the schools today, one girl comitted suicide over what was being done to her.  At our age, we should know better.  It's really not fun to be poked at, whether the individual needs it done to them or not.  Opinions are one thing, everyone has their own, downright meaness is another along with condemnation.   I agree with Charlotte on this one everyone should go back and read that guestbook of etiquette. These sites are for bringing people together and not tearing them down.

Without expressing my opinion on the content of recent posts made by SOC '62rs on this site,  let me point out to you guys that we ('62) have had several comments made about the fact that those posts have made the content here more lively.  Not sure if you consider that good or bad.  I decided to look at the number of posts for SOC '62, SOC '63 and SOC '64 during this month.  The tally is 402 for SOC '62 (it stopped on March 4 because it will only hold 400), 201 for SOC '63, and 13 for SOC '64.   Gee, it looks like SOC '64 could really use an invasion of the body snatchers!!!
