All this talk about eagles has worked. The new eaglet was born a few hours ago.

You can see it live on Eaglecam.

I love the eagle cam!!  I saw it here on your site nearly 2 weeks ago & looked it up.  Started checking in regularly and was able to see all 3 babies shortly after they hatched.  It is amazing to watch those majestic birds feed their babies & look at them so up close & personal.  I love that cam... thank you for sharing the site!!

Sharon, thank you for clearing up that mystery.  Even I (you know how much I know about football) remember Mean Joe Greene now that you mention his name.  I hope you and Steve made it through the big snow okay.

Lynell:  North Texas became the "mean green" in 1967 or '68 when Joe Greene played there.  (I was secretary to the Athletic Director.)  The wife of the Sports Information Director at the time was in the press box and screamed "Get mean, Greene" and her husband liked it and started calling them (and Joe) that in the media.  It stuck!  I read in the DMN yesterday that Don Henley named the band the "Eagles" after his association with North Texas.  I had never heard that before.

I've watched way too much basketball in the past few days.  I'm glad they don't start up again until Thursday.  I bet the odds makers in Vegas are having a hissy fit.

Yes, Charlotte, I went to Trinity Heights/Harrell Budd 1st through 7th grade...like so many Boude Storey-SOC folks.  I loved living in Trinity Heights (one of the original developments in Oak Cliff).

Bill, I can put you in touch with John Elliott who now lives in Plainview...a wonderful human being!

Lynell, not sure what you mean by "I'll bet nobody talked to your school about eagles either." But I am a big fan of the webcams and watched those babies hatch, feed, keep their nest clean and finally soar! I have two granddaughters and they make sure I'm up on all the best happenings in this world..the opportunity to learn never escapes me.  I'm passionate about education!

See, Claudia, MORE eagles -- and I'll bet nobody talked to your school about eagles either.  Last year Bill Akins got me hooked on an eagle webcam, then Charlotte found an even better one: http://www.wvec.com/marketplace/microsite-content/eagle-cam.html  Amazing remote camera work.  North Texas State is also Mean Green, making me wonder what a "Green" is, and how it got so mean.

Happy Monday, everyone!

Is that where you went Claudia?  I went there before the name change for just 1 1/2 years then to Clara Oliver when it opened.

Hey Mike Johnson, if you're still lurking over here, what ever happened to your neighbor, John Elliott? And my neighbor, Pat "Dubby" Newman?

Da Bears!  This takes me back to my question before all the action started:  Why didn't someone tell us how fascinating all these animals are?  Lisbon Lions, Boude Storey Eagles, SOC Golden Bears?  Wonderful animals, not just mascots.

Frankly, I couldn't agree more with all the 62 guys.  Seems they still have a brain...WELCOME SOC '62...GIVE EM HELL...  Finally someone had the whatevers to say what we've all been thinking...but we are polite...ha...

I absolutely agree with Charlotte. It is time to stop this nonsense. As I have observed, some of your classmates have no respect for other viewpoints and make WRONG assumptions about anyone who disagrees with them. A couple of people like to play the victim, don't stay on the subject and their knowledge of the topic about which they are pontificating is limited. I might add that I was asked several times to post on your website.

Charlotte:

I rarely post on '63's site, but perhaps you should have a talk with Ginger before you excoriate the entire Class of '62 and our site.  The posts made here by some from the '62 site were the direct result of Ginger's comments and postings regarding the Class, our site, and the people who post there.

Sweet Charlotte...overnight you have forgotten already.  Let me remind you that while you may be a "happy, friendly bunch of folks over here and respect one another's differences" on this site, your own Ginger shows no respect at all for our differences on the '62 site....maybe you "don't remember any of us (63's) going to other sites to complain or jump in someone's face" because you haven't visited the '62 site in the past couple of days.  Just so you know, your own Ginger did exactly that.  Maybe if she gets her act together, it will spare your site some of the unwanted posts here that she, herself generated! We really like you guys. Some loose cannons just can't be controlled! http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=91325229068&index=1#!/photo.php?pid=262015&id=100000153696472/

Well, jump back Satan!   I've tried and tried...I even tried to change the subject, but nooo ooo!

I've tried to ignore these 62ers coming over to our site to cut and paste someone else's post, defend themselves by trying to belittle one of us, espouse their worth etc. but  now I have to say something.

Stop and desist!

We are a happy, friendly bunch of folks over here and respect one another's differences.  We may disagree, but that is OK too.  Yes we, too, have had our moments but we have worked through them and taken the heat if we had too, but I can't remember any of us going to other sites to complain or jump in someone's face.  If you want to say something tacky to someone or complain about their actions, email them personally.  We don't need you airing your wrath over here.  don't waste our post space with that garbage.  Notice I am posting this on OUR site because I guess you must be lurking and will get the point.

OK, Satan is jumping back now and I apologize to my fellow classmates and posters...and you lurkers too, but I just couldn't sit by any longer.  Sorry!

At the risk of giving the SOC 62 site a good name, please let me respond to Ginger Hearn. I am a Christian/conservative who spent my working days as a sailor on 3 carriers, a TV repairman(20yrs), a Hot-Rod/Motorcycle builder(45yrs counting overlaps with other jobs),a federally licensed gunsmith with a police department(15 yrs) and now own a little 20 acre farm in near-west Texas. I grow my own grapes, peaches, pears, plums, apricots and raise chickens plus make my own wine. I should finish my 1965 Mustang coupe this summer and start on my 1967 Sunbeam sportscar. My shop is a 1940 style single pump gas station with everything needed to build a car from the frame up. My cars have won the Dallas & Ft Worth car shows and my 1932 Ford Coupe was featured in several magazines, was a centerfold and on the cover of one. However, THINGS are not my God. The one talked about in the Bible is. Having read the Bible cover to cover and lived long enough to bury many friends, faith is what sustains me. I do not have the pedigree of Ginger, but I think God cares more about us than our ancesters. If one reads more than a day or two you will find the 62 site has fun with each others idiosyncrasies. Ginger started out funny and seemed to be part of the group, then began talking-down to us and flashing her ancestry at us. Being good little rednecks, we flashed our porchdog, car chasin, toothless ancestry right back! SOC 63, come visit when you get the urge to slum or bottom feed. ()!

Phil, I think the rain will help keep the freeze away from our tender seedlings (I pray).  I just came in from filling the horse's water buckets while Terry mucked the stalls and then  I walked the doggie girls.........my teeth are chattering!  That wind is brutal! The thermometer says 41*, but it feels much colder..... AND today there was a weather alert for Austin County north of Columbus for pockets of freeze....I hope we are not in one of those pockets!!!!!!!!!!!!
