Comments: Ginger hasn't had a cigarette, but she is high on something. What in the world is she talking about...my lying to Miss Thomas about her? I didn't even know who she was... She hasn't been drunk, so that makes her good?...what does that mean anyway...what does it mean "those kinds of people"... ...she says she is "recovering from her Baptist upbringing" (her words)...well I'd say that is the least of her problems...who are the "decent people" who won't go there...she sure has us sorted out into groups...and knows none of us! Guess her metaphysical experience gave her extraordinary powers. Oh, and you are all welcome to visit us....but if you come as a provokatuer, be prepared to answer all your own ridiculous accusations...we are all intelligent enough to defend both our intellect and our character. If someone here has some inside scoop on Ginger's "problems" I'd like to know...I'd hate to be too hard on someone who is "special"!
Comments: Claudia told a lie to Miss Thomas when I was a junior..about me..so when I came on this site, I emailed Charlotte and asked, that's not the same Claudia is it..? Well, guess what? It is.. I thought it was humorous that they didn't know who those people were, and Claudia didn't paste any of their day long 'uglies'.. The 'uglies' are quite funny and such totally bad taste and bad, bad English.. I've never heard so much talk about guns and alcohol, booze or 'shine' which they refer to (it seems Mike W. brings the shine..) And by the way, Sam, I've never been drunk and never smoked a cigarette.. It's a glass of wine now and then. You may drink a whole bottle of tequila, but I don't and never will.. I still say if you haven't read 'them', to go there and read 'them'.. Someone said to me today, that they talked about her for a two weeks.. These people behave very bad all the time not just when I came on, but all the time.. Decent 62 people don't feel welcome.. Sam, you have hosted that site and those kind of people, too long. and I won't go there..It's said that Sam invites you on there...to feed you to the wolves..! Comments: WOW....SEE??? YIKES! I've been on my computer all day because Margaret (Williams) Morris and I are working on an invitation with a graphic artist via computer. It is an invitation to a benefit we are involved in during May. We need to get this invitation done! Anyway, between emails and proofs, I check in here. That is why I am on here so much today.........just can't stop myself from posting...haaaaaaa!!
Comments: Ginger is right…SOC ’62 fought back toward all of her disrespectful and arrogant comments. Implying that she has superior knowledge of religious matters than the classmates who frequent our site with this comment. “Not enough education to know 'who' the Dalai Lama is? Wow..! and this is 2010..! Do you know who Constantine was..?? Talk religion, you better 'read' up... That info has been out there for years..You-all looking up The Merovingian Kings..? If you're going to talk religion, you have got to do a lot of studying..”
Quoting some author who suggests God has both a gender and ethnicity…challenging conservative thinking and admittedly baiting for a response. Deepak Chopra said we might be surprised to find out God is a woman and black..Now that would 'really' mess up the minds of a lot of fundamentalists, conservatives,republicans, etc., etc. I bet you 'real' conservatives think Deepak is of the 'Devil'..?? It was a rant and a deliberate attempt to provoke our people…so sympathize with her if you will, but you need to know the whole truth! Then when she finally figured out she had no defense at all she chimed in with the following... **This is a very Entertaining site..! I'm encouraging people to come and 'read' when they are bored and need entertainment.. so you see, she was entertaining herself and her sad story here just doesn't fly!
Comments: Charlotte, Please! You trying to give SOC '62 a bad name or something? LOL! You guys don't know who some of those posting there are because you don't normally go there. It's like this site, a limited number of posters, but thousands of lurkers. Last names actually become unnecessary after a while, but Lynell is the rule maker here, and I'll certainly respect it. Just look, however, Ginger became Ginger "Snap" before yesterday was over. And she probably consumed a full bottle of tequila to get through it. Maybe not. Understand that whatever I say here will probably get sliced and diced on SOC '62, but what the heck. I just wanted to get on and tell Ginger, who (with a little support from Kathleen who is a political opponent but a friend) that I personally enjoyed your foray onto SOC '62. From my standpoint, which is no more or less than anyone else's, I will invite you back anytime. Peaches will tell you that in the overall, they're good, sweet people. We all did come from a special place and time.

Comments: I invite all of you to go to the '62' site...this guy named Shelby and 3 others plus Claudia, 'trashed' me out all day. The next time Sam T. comes on this site and brags about that site..let him know you have visited that 'wonderful' site.. Sam kept inviting me and others to come over to the 'dangerous' site. Well, go there...then tell Sam.. **They made fun of me for saying Namaste..(Gandhi should hear them) They made fun of the Dalai Lama.. They made fun of me when I quoted what Deepak Chopra said about 'God'. It's in one of his Jesus' books..and the video.. They made fun of me when I mentioned 2 of my ancestors..Constantine and The Merovingian Kings..ie, The Davinci Code.. some of the research he has done has been around for hundreds and hundreds of years.. **Just to let you 63's know, I have 4 Patriot Lines.. (history stuff) Washington is in one of those lines, and as I was telling Lynell, the Merovingian Kings, may be in the Washington line..I will have to go back and look in the Hopson Book.. ***FYI..The James' Brothers, you know Jesse and Frank, are on the Harrod side.That is my biological father's side...It takes all kinds...(as they say) **JS told me I wasn't playing nice..that's man's definition of 'The Little Christian Woman'. Comments: SHEESH! I just went over to the 62 GB and those posters sure bash each other. I don't know who half those posters are since they don't use their whole (real) names. However, they sure enjoy sarcastic "name calling". I would be afraid to post a comment over there.......seriously! Thank you again, Lynell, for being our "web-mistress" as they called you over there...........puleeeeeeeeze! Lynell is a wonderful site designer and editor and has done such a good job of keeping 63 going after the tragic loss of the old site. Thankfully, you took the challenge when no one else would. You are my HER-o!!!!!!!!!!  )Hope some of you are having better weather than we are down here in Blue Bell Country...it is supposed to be verrrrrry cold tonight too. May have to cover plants.......and some of them are newly planted too........grrrrrr!!
Comments: wow, wow, wow...Mike used his entire name on this site. They work anonymously on their site.. It's kind of like people who drive around with black tinted glass on their cars..You can't recognize them. We have lots of those people in Memphis.. We try to avoid them... One such car, a Monte Carlo just shot an AK47 from 2 blocks away and injured someone on a MATA bus..? I think I saw that car as I was going to a tutor lesson in Frayser.. One of our most 'interesting' neighborhoods in Memphis.

Comments: I agree Char-Char...Cruise the streets of Memphis..300-400 lb people.! I have a friend from Dallas. She lived here for about 7-8 yrs and worked as an occupational therapist..That's a nursing degree, I believe. She smokes several packs of cigarettes a day and has survived most of her 58 yrs on hamburgers from Burger King and McDonald's and she gave that 'legacy' to her adopted son.. She's had at least one bout with Cancer..It seems that should have knocked some sense in her head and helped her understand the importance in nutrition, but no, I thing she's still the same old 'burger' person..She's back in Dallas now. Still 'alive'. I get Christmas cards from her.. Very sad... 
Comments: Regarding our fat population don't forget cheap, calorie loaded, fast food available on every corner, lazy parents (or no parenting)who would rather do the fast food number than planning and providing nutritious meals.
Comments: Quit putting the Reagan Administration up on a pedestal..The Republicans would have him elevated to Sainthood, if they could...(He looked good riding off into the Sunset..that's about it) You-all are republicans. You are just defending your party..I'm not going to defend either party, Jud. The democrats are 'more' for the people, rich or poor, but I'm not in agreeance with them all the time.. They've got corruption, too. That's why I'm not either side 'fulltime'. Just a moderate independent. Will vote for a republican candidate if it is a person that represents all people..with honesty and integrity..That's hard to find.(on either side). The republican party has hooked a lot of former democrats by claiming it is a 'moral party'. Well, there is no 'moral party'. We need more than a 2-party system.. I keep telling you that..More than a 2-party system or maybe a 'no-party system'. Wow, what a thought. A no-party system..No more of that Bi-Partisan/ No-Partisan 'stuff'. Vote out all the incumbents, be they democrat or republican..Let's totally take back America..
Comments: Trying to blame a political party for our dietary problems, or cost increases, is an exercise in futility. Bill is on the right track. We live in an age of instant gratification, where bigger is better and more is desirable. We have met the enemy, and he is US!
Comments: My wife ALWAYS saves 1/2 her meal at a restaurant to take home for lunch the next day.I'm trying to learn to do that-I lost 30 lbs. last summer!

Comments: Just a note to say that those "beautiful suits" in the 1933 movie were costumes in a movie. I wonder what people wore in real life in those days? I have a motel room service menu from the early 70s. A hamburger was $1.25 and a coke 25 cents.........ROOM SERVICE! whoa!!
Comments: Kathleen, actually I think Coke went from 6 oz. to 10 oz. first (maybe in the early 80s). Part of the problem with obesity in this country is the portion sizes that we eat. Most restaurants serve enough on one plate to easily feed two adults, but most of us don't share. And, the fast food industry really hooked us several years ago by offering to "super-size" your order with giant fries and drinks for ONLY 39 cents more. Who can pass that up? What we all need is a bit of willpower. That includes me by the way.
Comments: If you go into a grocery store or especially places like Exxon..Bengal Traders and read the sugar content on all their drink labels, including juice it's...astounding..some drinks have 40-50 grams of sugar.. 28 grams is a lot..I look for the lower sugar 'everything'. Our toothpaste has had dextrose in it..forever..When I think of the sweetener that's always been in Crest and every other toothpaste and they have these ads about reducing tooth decay.. I am diabetic and it's in 2 sides of my family but that 'stuff' doesn't help the situation.. **I cook from scratch..all the time. I read a lot of labels and have bought bulk, whole grain food since 1970. I can't afford much organic food, but I think the best thing is to cook as much as you can from 'scratch'. It helps to be from a family with several generations of good cooks.. I thank God for my grandmother, I used to stand on the chair next to her and watch her cook..and she was good!
Comments: Bill, I enjoyed viewing the 1962, 1972 and 2004 prices. We have had a big increase in gasoline, a pound of hamburger and the cost of housing since 2004. It is true that some products cost more, but have been improved. I hadn't realized that coca-cola has gone from 6 ozs. to 12. Did they double the size so they could charge us a lot more money? How many other foods have increased in size? Could this possibly be a reason so many Americans are suffering from obesity and diabetes?

Comments: Before we lay too much inflation at the feet of President Reagan, you may want to check out the link below to a baby-boomer site that compares prices of various items in 1962 to 1972 (long before Reagan took office). Matter of fact, all but two years of that period were in the administrations of JFK and LBJ. I don't think any particular party can be faulted for price increases from 1933-2010. Plus, not only have prices increased but so have incomes, and many items that fall into "technology" categories have actually gone down. Baby Boomer Link
Comments: Remember, he also made Catsup/Ketchup a 'vegetable' for the public school lunches.. That was interesting.. I really don't think he made any of those decisions just his administration. Dear old Reagan was probably already..Alzheimer's.. They just kept it quiet. **A cousin of mine said that LBJ started 'messing' with Social Security, but he also said that it was probably originally JFK..My cousin said LBJ never did anything 'original'.. I enjoy listening to all these things.. It makes you think.. Bill Moyers had an interesting show, months and months ago..about LBJ signing the civil rights bill into being and saying when he did so, "Well, we've lost the South now.." He had an author/s on there/ twins that had written a book about this.. About the South, Democrats, Republicans, Fundamentalists, etc and how it changed with the signing of the Civil Rights Bill. Since we lived through that time, it's very interesting to see the 'bigger picture' through someone else's eyes.. I find it fascinating but sometimes disconcerting..
Comments: Ginger, I really hadn't thought about the Reagan era. I do remember that the Reagan Administration and Congress eliminated a lot of middle class tax deductions in 1986. An example being interest on our credit cards, damage to your home and property and interests deduction on a second home. Since Reagan the middle class has paid more income tax, while the upper class pays less. Probably due to his trickle down economic policy.

Comments: Ginger, I wish I could use all the extras of this website, but I was told that I need special software for my Mac notebook. Some of you have been sending me emails about "do I remember the past" usually from the 50's. Well, I was watching a Ginger Rogers 1933 movie on TCM the other night and I was amazed that Ginger's rent was $15 a month and a hamburger and coffee at the local diner cost twenty-five cents. Also, everyone was wearing expensive beautiful suits/clothes. I was wondering at what point our economy changed so drastically.
Comments: Shirley.. My mother was at the Cedar Hill Healthcare Facility for several years. My uncle moved her to a Lewisville 'home' that takes care of Alzheimer patients. I'm doing fine..We're suppose to have '30' degree weather..Saturday night.. It's not over until it's over....  (well, I haven't used this one..decided I would try it out) |
