I have such fond memories of Glendale pool and park.  I suppose those kinds of days and places are gone for everyone forever.  Think of the trust we had.........were we and our parents  just naive or was the world a kinder more Innocent place?

We have a little rescue pup that is about 1 year old...she has been with us 1 1/2 weeks now.  She is adorable and my 15 year old Westie loves her.  She has just come out to the ranch for the first time.  Oh my!  The smells............haaaaaaaa!!  We didn't get out here until around 7 PM this evening so tomorrow will be interesting when she sees all the animals and takes a ride in my Cow-asaki!

Speaking of swimsuits, Cousin Johnny, are you gonna weigh in on that little Jimmy Buffett Margaritaville number you picked up at Costco, or are you just going to forward photos?   Guess I could suggest the SOC '63 Swimsuit edition!  Ginger?  Charlotte?  Kathleen?  Dr. Proctor?

One thing's for sure, Sharon.  Just about everybody in Dallas knows where Church Road is.  HUD sent a team out a few years ago to fix up Ms. Johnson's little house for her.  It was amazing to watch what they could do in a day.  The lady in the house behind hers looks out for her and helps her financially.  We live in a good world.

Thanks, Lynell.  When you see something for the first time that has obviously been there for years, it makes you curious.  It also made me realize how unobservant I am.  I just have tunnel vision when it comes to driving to and from work.

Sharon, thanks for the nice words.  Yes'm, I live on Church Road -- same place for 30 years.  That little house you mentioned is owned by Ms. Margaret Johnson.  Her daughter, who recently passed away, was the first black drill team member at Lake Highlands High School.  The area across Church from her was rezoned last year, thanks to City Council shenanigans, so there's no telling what we'll all be living across from -- supposedly a retirement home.  More likely a Taco Biggie.  Excuse my cynicism.

Barry, thanks for the Splash Day info.  Chicken on the high board!

Definitely.....don't drink the water...!
The George Strait , Reba Mcintyre, Lee Ann Womack concert would have been super, except it was so loud and we couldn't understand the words..The bands were too loud and the voices blended in with the noise of the band. They have those big screens, so you can see everyone real well... They all looked great. I wondered if...the sound equipment is George's and who was operating the 'many' sound booths.? It astounds me that people can pay $100. plus and not understand a word the singers say/sing...
At the Eagles concert and The Rolling Stones, we could understand more..Same venue, FedEx Forum...
We were up above the main stage for the Stones and we watched Mick Jagger dance all over that stage.. How old is he, 66? There was a long stage that extended out into the audience and the Stones band 'platform' actually moved along that stage.. The people right in front of the stage, paid $700. for those seats.. Wow!!

Leftnell:  Do you and David still live down the street from LHHS?  I took a detour on my way home last week and for the first time noticed a tiny, frame house at the intersection with Skillman.  It sits on a huge lot and still has a propane tank.  And, it looks as if someone still lives there!  So totally out of place with everthing that has been built around it.  I bet that lot is worth a pretty penny.  By the way, thanks for all your hard work, the new site is great.

What a nice surprise today to hear from my buddy Martha Jo Alice Bass Hunt who was in town and looking for someone to shop with.  T J Maxx never knew what hit it.  Being an optimist who's looking forward to warm weather, I bought a swimsuit.  When does Glendale open?

Tea Bag....I think I have heard of the rude, crude, socially unacceptable 'version' of tea bag....after all.. Another misuse of the English language turning a totally acceptable word/words into something..naughty...Shame on you, men..Quit it! We have more words that have been ruined because of somebody's wicked mind..
**I see that the term is being used in reference to republicans..What derogatory, naughty terms do they use in reference to democrats...?

(No one need tell me what the term means..I googled it, but I have a 'weird' male friend, that keeps a 'running' vocabulary of words like this. I forgot he told me what that means.. Sigh...you know it makes it hard to communicate with each other when someone does that 'stuff' to the English language...)

I worked at Southwestern Bell from 65-70. I worked in information and there were thousands of names like David Smith.. You would think that Ginger Hearn was more unique than it is. I've googled me and found there are at least 4 of us. 2 of us have taught school in Tenn... Well, you all have fun with your politics..
Tea Bagger is derogatory?? Sam, since you have info, tell us what Tea Bagger means?? There's Carpet Bagger... Tea Bagger??    I like my tea to be in bags..I use 'loose' tea, but tea bags are much more convenient...!

I don't know the first thing about candidate David Smith, but I was slightly relieved that he didn't win.  Even though he's in Plano, I know our phone would ring with complaints about trash pickup or something.  There was a coach at SMU named David Smith.  We had collect calls at all hours from boys who wanted to play basketball.  A publishing agent by that name gets calls here, too.  There are hundreds of David Smiths in Dallas, so I suppose all of them get these wrong numbers.  If your name is unusual, be happy about it!

Kathleen knows that's a derogative, rude slang term.  We've had that discussion.  I'd just say Cousin Johnny, I'd be careful to hang my star on the Democrat candidate for Texas governor, just because he was previously a Houston mayor.  It's not really a left of center state at the moment, and a country that's figured out the unsavory agenda and is moving right.  Other than that, I wish Bill White, and Kinky well.

Ginger, Don't you recall the email I sent you regarding our illustrious governor? ( I don't think its women that are a problem for the guv). Kinky lost to Hank Gilbert.
Lynell, I saw where David Smith lost to Pete Sessions.
Bill White will be the Democratic nominee. One commentator said the Tea Bagger candidates didn't have much of an effect on Texas politics. Of course, this is just their first time to test the waters.

There is no moral party out there..Char. You know they tried to sell the Republican Party as the moral party. Perry might be guilty... I'll seek the truth, Char. Are you 'buds' with the Perry's?  Do you know Kinky? Do I need your autograph too?
It's cold at night, 40's in the day. May warm up to the 60's this weekend..My DAR chapter is serving coffee, punch and cookies to the veterans and families at the VA Hospital every Wednesday throughout March..I'm on duty tomorrow. It's good for us little old ladies to do something nice every once in a while.. You know Char, most of those DAR ladies are Republicans!! Imagine that?

Ginger, why do you insist that Gov Perry has a mistress.........do you think this just because he is a man and a politician? Or is it because you know this as fact.  If so, produce the facts.  Otherwise I will assume it is another media maneuver and that you are not as independent as you claim to be...

How is your weather now?  Ours is cool but sunny...nice early spring weather. The Azalea Trail will be going on soon and there are NO azaleas...none!!  Those freezes down here got 'em all.  I guess all the gardens that are showcased will have to plug in color here and there to supplement.

Well, Sam...You seem to have more info about this stuff than most of us...so I thought you might know Rick Perry's mistress' name..I heard that 'info' on the news...somewhere.. Do you know her name..As I said I knew the name of Clinton's famous or infamous mistress but I don't know who Perry's mistress is...
I don't know the name Medina or Bill White for that matter.. We are getting various forms of info about you folks back in Texas..
I do agree with some things that you 'Tea Party People' are saying...but not all.. Where were you during the Bush Administration? The Reagan Administration...?
So.....John is really buddy-buddy with Farouk?? Velly interesting....Tea Party ON.....Sam...

Ginger, just because I'm on a first name basis with Kinky Friedman doesn't mean I know all the "affairs of state".  You may be confusing me with cousin Southworth, who hangs with Farouk Shami for political reasons, or for the hair care products.  I hate to break it to Johnny but.....oh never mind.  Now, who is it I'm supposed to know?  Hopefully Debra Medina will beat Perry and Hutchison in the primary.  We need a good Tea Partyer in Austin!

If Gov Perry had had an affair we Texans would probably ALL know about it..trust me...politics?......remember?  The opposition would dig til they found something and blast it every where.

As far as Bill White goes, well, Ginger, he was Houston's Mayor..so we know more about him than what you could possibly know from TN.

Remember, the media, unfortunately, has been electing our government leaders.  Like it or not it is the truth now.  I hope that Americans have awakened and will not let the media have so much influence in our elections in the future.  OR let the bozos in Hollywood sway them with their opinions....what makes them the experts on who should work for all of us!?  They are a dime a dozen pretenders and entertainers...puleeez!

I hope all take advantage of your right to vote for whom ever you think is the best candidate.

OK, I will step down off the soap box now.

Well...Martha, I don't know her personally.. I bet Sam Tenpenny knows her name...uh..not personally.. I didn't know Jennifer Flowers either, and didn't vote for that 'turkey', either..
Oooooo...Farouk...that doesn't sound good, either..
Well...you Texans, I've been drafted to take a 'disabled' friend to see and hear George Strait, Reba, and Lee Ann at the FedEx Forum on Thursday night.. And my cowboy boots are in storage in Texas..
I experienced The Rolling Stones and the Eagles, taking this friend, who doesn't drive..
I'm not disabled yet...but I feel I'm getting close.. I have to wear 'ear plugs' at these concerts..Those people get  LOUD..!
We 'moderate independents' have a rough time finding a halfway-moral-sane-honest candidate...Did I say all that in one sentence...???
