Well happy summer everyone.Im already getting tired of mowing. Looks like I can sit on the porch here in Paris and see it growing.Thank the lord for riding mowers and tractors. I just spoke to my son in Florida .He purchased a house in the panhandle near the beach. He wants Nancy and me to come down and help him pick out paint colors. Really Nancy. Looks like we will have to drive down for a week in the sand and sun in a few weeks. Darn it. I was so looking forward to mowing my yard every week this summer. . Hope you are all doing well!

Hope everyone is okay after the storm.  My neighborhood in south Garland just had a lot of twigs and leaves everywhere, but no major damage.  On my drive to work, which took an hour and 40 minutes due to the signal lights not working, the damage in the Lake Highlands area was devastating.

Stay safe.

Yes, Phillis, that Vale Conga dude has taken a liking to us. I delete and ban him every time. Thanks for the heads up. Guess they want some cash from all us rich folks. Ha.

Steve, Doug, et al, it’s great to see you young ‘uns drop by and visit! I did not realize Deb was Jeff Bryant’s sister. I thought her claim to fame was to marry a SOC guy! 😜 Best of luck to you with your books. Gotta keep the juices moving.

A 64 grad just dropping by to say hello and say I enjoy visiting your website from time to time. I know none of you but feel like I do reading your contributions. Seeing where some of you are painting I commend you for staying busy. My wife (Deb, sister of the late Jeff Bryant, SOC 62) is of the class of Waxahachie 1970. She and I find it helps greatly in these senior years to stay busy as though we are working(?) and also taking daily walks. She has a craft room and I do my writing. Currently I am writing 3 books and reading at least 5 including the Bible for the 14th time. Since our grandchildren all live so far away, as of course do our children, we are "church people" and stay socially active there and in our senior center in Benbrook. If you have to be a good writer to write I would have quit many years ago but I just keep writing as though someone will read it someday. Hope each of you who are reading this are well and enjoying your senior years as well. Thanks for letting me visit.

recently there was discussion about the poor state of modern music. Well, we all know oldies are the best. And low and behold now comes a chance to hear some oldies, ca. 1791, with a live orchestra and chorus!! That would be this coming Sunday, May 5, at 4pm. at First UMC Church located at 313 Center St. in scenic downtown Arlington, TX.  The concert is free and open to the public. This is your chance to hear a live performance, with orchestra, of Mozart's Requiem. Be there or be square.

Thanks you.  May never talk with Tim again but it is nice to know he is doing well.  Have passed this on to a couple of people who were concerned.  Thanks again.

I heard from Tim Wright last night. He sounds great! He said to tell y'all he and Lisa are doing great. His problem was just a hiccup in his life that only lasted 14 months. He still has the same positive outlook on life. He went right back to living his life in Georgetown. It was absolutely great to hear from him. I did hear from his after he came back in November 2016; however, his numbers changed.

I tried calling him before our 55th reunion. The numbers I had plus for his son are no longer working. I just sent an email to see if I get a response back.

I hope this question does not muddy the water.  Was talking with Ron Bays and he ask if I ever heard anymore new about Tim Wright.  We know what happened but does anyone know his current status.

Back then 9th grade was still in Junior High School.  We started SOC in 10th Grade.  I actually think that was better, 9th graders are still on the immature side.

Question?  When we were at SOC, it didn't have a 9th grade, did it?  I seem to recall starting there in the 10th grade.

Ron, I’m sorry about your classmate.
Dan, I’d like to be an oil painter but my breathing can’t take it.
Google "South Oak Cliff At Last!“ Maybe you’ll slap your head. Maybe not. I hope children are helped.

Lynell, I am an oil painter. My wife Nancy paints like you, but she is the real artist.Pottery, jewelry and oil painting.  I can barely hold a paint brush. I started when Bill Alexander was on PBS. Stopped painting for years and picked it back  up 10 or 12 years ago. Now that Im in Paris,Tx I have an art studio attached to my house  and paint almost daily on something. i would rate my work along Yosimity Sam.Keep painting Lynell it is so relaxing! Dan

Dan, what kind of art do you do? I took up acrylic painting a few years ago, and I take online landscape classes from Johannes Vloothius. Just wish I could remember half the stuff I need to remember while slinging paint around! Watch out for those mosquitoes when the season arrives.

FYI which might be To Much Information.

Lamar county had 77 active liquor license with 69 of those in Paris.  In 1970 you drove 7 miles for booze.  Now you drive 7 blocks.

Music does not exist today, at least not in my world.

Hope all is well.

Dan, there's a club in Paris with drinking?  When I lived there in the 70's you had to drive about 7 miles out of town to buy alcohol!  Things have really changed.  I do understand the noise level of the music and am surprised you lasted that long.

Dan, when I first read your message I thought you meant Paris, France, LOL!!!   With all of the violence over there and all the shootings in the US - hard to tell which it would be!!!   Glad no one was hurt!
